The tank shortage is getting out of hand

90% of players, play a class that can Tank but choose not to, I respect people who wish to do whatever they need to enjoy this game. However, don’t expect to gear at the same pace as a healer or tank would.
The real problem is poor-quality players. They don’t interrupt, use defensive CDs, Hybrid classes don’t use externals, and most of all the ego.

For example, A healer decides that we should pull a lot more packs right at the start in The Stone Vault, I ignore him, but he pulls them anyway, i grab them, hold aggro, pop CDs, and everyone’s alive 2 seconds later he dies along with 2 DPS. Myself and a priest are alive, They res, and are now back at it! 5 of those mobs cast a fear i grab one, the priest grabs one, guess what? We’re double feared, The priest and I live again, and all 3 die again. After checking the details, me and priest survived again, and he along with 2 DPS died again. See why there is a shortage of tanks? I’ve run over 25 pugs to come to this conclusion just poor-quality players who cannot do the necessary things to prevent damage, survive and get loot. How do you fix that? Even if you re-introduce DPS increases to interrupts you won’t be able to fix the other issues. Now if I pulled those 3 packs and died guess who’s going to be blamed? not that I care, but it’s a double-standard argument.

Good luck, we’re all counting on you.

But if you don’t do lower keys to build score you’ll never get in a pug for higher keys once you max your prog in Delves.

That only applies to DPS. Tanks and healers are in such demand, they take anything they can get.

Not really. Would you take a Tank with zero score into higher level key? Because it’s likely the key gets bricked because the Tank has zero experience.

If you are a group that has been waiting for 20+ min for a tank to show up and you are at risk of losing the healer which if they go it takes another 20 min?
Yes, yes they would, they do it all the time.

Sure. You do that once or twice and the key gets bricked and you never do it again. We’ve had it happen a couple of times already this season and decided to never grab an inexperienced tank but with a decent iLevel ever again.

You are implying that there are not hundreds of group that wont try it twice, at which point, you are going to get it finished one way or the other as a tank.

Liked i have said this before tanks and healers are literally a first class citizen when it comes to M+, DPS are literally 2nd class citizens in the system.

Like in DF i made it a point, i got KSH each season, never used a single one of my keys, i always used others keys, and i never waiting more then 5 min in a LFG.
Like i dont think you understand how it works for tanks and healers in M+
We dont wait for anything, we get into any group or key level we want, when we want, in no time at all.

Like yeah it sounds scummy but its the truth.

I understand bro. I think you don’t understand how M+ is tuned this season and don’t understand how many 600 ilevel “tanks” are floating around who geared up just from Delves.

Desperate players will eventually cave but the odds of those runs being successful is slim.

ive taken a 0 io tank once or twice in the past for regular 10’s. it was a mistake, i rather chug the long wait times.

Oh im sure, but the wild part is, there are hundreds of people who will try it once or twice and eventually the lucky one gets through.

It goes both ways. The community shouldn’t be so toxic but tanks have the responsibility to know the content before they run it.

Where a lot of tanks think they can learn the raid while doing it or learn Mythic + while doing it.

I’ve had that a couple of times. If it’s the key holder I tell them “Ok boss it’s your key” and then when we are short and people say something I /point at the key holder who said we didnt need those.

I don’t disagree, but, at least back when i last played, we had a lot pushed on us and learning routes that changed every week and then again with new seasons was a lot more work that takes away from the fun of tanking. Then we weren’t ALLOWED to make a mistake and that was the last straw for me.

Hello,

I like to tank for pugs.

That is all.

Full transparency, I’m not reading 600+ posts so if this was said already I apologize.

Learn how to tank. I don’t say that condescendingly but think of it as a changing of the guard, no pun intended. A lot of people don’t like tanks because of superiority or ego or whatever. Obviously that don’t apply to all but I’ve seen the sentiment enough. I’m learning how to tank this go around and it’s been… alright. Kinda fun, kinda stressful. But each new tank is going to have a different mindset than a forever tank.

Hopefully in time tanks will be a lot more patient because we all had to learn at somepoint and we as tanks can be more encouraging to others.

I’ve tanked happily since BFA except for this season due to the changes to white damage. They changed white damage in SL season 1 and it was a mess. I played prot pali through that and with all the nerfs to tanking I just don’t want to deal with it. Join your class discord, the tanking discords are really good about answering questions. Good luck in your journey!

Play a tank then

No. When pushing score, everyone should know the content before they run it. Not just tanks, everyone.

And everyone should also be less toxic tp everyone else. If a key bricks, it’s not the end of the world, you hearth back to town and go next.
