The difference is that if a Tank doesn’t know the content, you are hooped.
yeah i do really like the whole moon bear build, its a very interesting twist on being almost like a caster tank with all the fury of elune procs watching orbital lazers rip packs apart.
but i’ve tried pretty much every tank so far up through at least T8 delves and heroics, and right now sad as it is to say, prot warrior is the only one that doesnt feel like they get flattened in 2 hits. every other tanks healthbar feels like its playing jump rope, which is a shame. i enjoy the brick wall feeling of tanking, and most of the tanks just dont feel like that right now, though guardian druid can certainly get there temporarily during its cooldowns, as soon as you step outside of the umbrella of a cooldowns duration you get pelted with a hail of shots from mobs for 50% of your hp per swing, especially the caster mobs which seem to hit particularly hard. it is hilarious playing a prot warrior though and spell reflecting one of these mobs spell attacks back at them on a T8+ delve and watching them nuke half their own health in a single hit lol
When I was on around 2:30pm on a weekday afternoon (today), and I searched specifically for groups in the 4-9 range that already had a tank, I saw around 50ish partial groups looking for more.
I run bristleback spec with my druid.
Popping everything then going up anywhere from 350 to 750,000 armor while dealing out 20% of it as aoe damage is funny.
What a great game amirite, and dont forget to mention mythic track loot in vault is a 10
Tanking was fine till they really started to mess with it with the introduction of different stats and additional mechanics, just has not been right since. If they get back to basics they could do it. Keep aggro and take hits, was not that bad when tanks only needed a single defensive cooldown and only really needed it as an Oh S button.
This is your call to become a tank
Eh, that’s boring. I’d much rather have more defensive stats that we could mix and match for different builds and a variety of situational CD than just be patchwerk zombies that just need to press one CD button per boss fight.
That’s what you get when clueless Blizzard devs nerf tanks for no reason at all.
I like it when DPS or Heals pull stuff in.
I have no problem with a bit more of a challenge or if they think they can burst down a bigger pack than I initially pulled.
If it goes badly I won’t be impressed but a bit of extra pressure is fine.
And that is why people do not want to be tanks.
As someone who tanks, engaging play means more than just tank n spank to me.
I get that others may want something different, but dumbing the role down even further when it’s already about the easiest functionally is just going to turn off the people who’ve been doing it all this time; and for what? A hope that more people will be willing to do queued 5 man content as tanks? Most people avoid that because of the people, not the gameplay.
That is where player choice should come in. I am confident that if they took one of the tank roles and simplified it, it would be the most popular. And it is not even about dumbing it down because, as it is right now, it is already stupid. There is no reason why I need three defensive cooldowns with 1 min+ cooldown. It used to be about timing, now it seems to be about maintaining which just create clutter. This is what I call dumbed down.
I mean, making something as good as every other one but way easier is a pretty easy way to boost numbers. Of course that’d be true of any role.
Bear has generally been pretty simple, and prot pal is a very user friendly way to get into tanking (even with the TWW nerfs) by your logic, there should be plenty of people willing to play them in most content.
Not true. There is a reason why pally tanks are being called paper tanks right now. Not many people can play them correctly so now they are in a special place like they were in vanilla. No one wants to be one. The term “Tank and spank” does not apply to how easy a role is to play, it applies to how simple a boss is to fight.
This is true and bad players give others the impression that I will be paper because they didn’t know how to manage their defensives properly.
Is doesn’t help that most of pally mitigation isn’t front loaded right now. They do fine but the name of the game in mythic plus is surviving initial contact as dps toss out their disruption
The easy solution is to just block DPS players from typing/communicating in parties and making them recieve 10x additional durability damage if they take damage from avoidable effects or miss interrupts
I’m loving the supply and demand of it.
I’ve been selling expedited queues for 5k a pop and then I leave the group and let them queue for a real tank. I get paid upfront and guarantee nothing.
I’ve earned almost enough to buy a small island off the coast of Kalmidor.
The initial contact can be rough, I won’t lie, but most times you have mitigations rolling form the previous pull. If not, then they should be going into it with a small CD right before going in. Even dropping Conc ahead of time to get the 4 second buff while outside of it on top of tossing out a blessed hammer or even SoTR even if it won’t damage the mob.
