The tank shortage is getting out of hand

Uh…do you play BDK? DS isn’t the first line of defensives for them, lol.

If you’re relying solely on healing back via DS to stay alive, you’re BDK-ing wrong.

It was to show that the mitigation is part preemptive, and part recovery. You don’t get to use the recovery part once the damage becomes so sufficient as to be lethal due to the lower mitigation values DKs have when compared to tanks with more armor.

I am not saying DKs are paper - I am saying that the defensive style is different, and what may stress each kind of tank is different as a result when it comes to melee.

Fair enough.

As someone who plays BDK myself, and also spent a lot of time teaching the wife to play BDK…and also has healed a lot of bad BDKs…I just get bristly when it appears someone is perpetuating the notion that that’s how BDK is played. Haha.

I can’t tell you how many BDKs I’ve come across lately that literally just take everything to the face and heal it back, then blame me when they get one-shot. “Welp, nothing I coulda done there! hEaLs?!?!?!?!?”

I used to main bdk.

It’s 100% the tank changes.

try 1hour+ for even one tank to queue. its bad. Yesterday i was doing +10 pug and tank came in tried pull MDI route and wiped group 3 times and left. It was a great experience. He then gets instant invited to next key and recks it.

Don’t pretend you speak for everyone.

I have several tanks and main two of them, and also routinely play with several tank mains.

None of us want anything to do with tanking for pugs, and none of us give two wet farts about the tank changes.

  1. Mythic+ this season is very hard

  2. Tanks got nerfs going into the expansion

  3. Tanks don’t like to rely on healers to survive for every little thing

  4. Kite meta is back in higher keys which most tanks dislike

I also think people could stand to be a bit nicer to tanks and have better dungeon etiquette but this community is absolutely insane sometimes so I doubt that’ll happen

People have always been rude to tanks, the idea that after almost 20 years now people have had enough and no one wants to play one is absurd. It’s clearly related to the curent state of the game.

Also:

Pick one.

You also didn’t mention that they also nerfed healers and nerfed every classes self-absorbs and/or self-heals.

What I’ve noticed in 6s is sometimes the tanks health bar goes from 100-0. That really wasn’t a thing until much higher keys like 23/24 in season 3. We haven’t wiped because of it and managed to recover without anyone else dying. You shouldn’t have to be doing log review on a 6 to figure out what went wrong IMO>

Tanks stand in stuff, they die.

No longer immortal gods that can ignore mechanics.

I’ve noticed since leveling my Druid over the last couple of weeks that there is never a tank shortage in LFG when the goodie bag for needed spec’s is available.

I can get instant Q pops all night as a tank, but as soon as that bag is up for grabs, my Q time, as a tank, goes up to like 5 minutes in LFG.

So what does this mean? It means there are a bunch of A-Hole tanks just waiting for that loot bag to Q. They Q, grab their bags, then when it’s not available, they F off and we go back to needing tanks and instant Qs.

Solution: Make the bag a permanent reward for tanks and healers with the degree of loot goodness varying on how needed tanks are.

Nah, how about we remove that whole cheese system that is making that a problem to begin with.

I do this. And it proves that incentives work

I haven’t been playing for 20 years, and neither have any of my tank friends. /shrug

However, I will say that I have been around long enough to see quite a few “tank shortages” and quite a few complaints about the treatment of tanks. Acting like it’s never been an issue with actual in-game consequences is disingenuous. SL had a massive tank shortage for quite some time.

And more to the first point, for us personally (me and my group), it’s been a steadily building issue that’s finally boiling over. Sorry the timing doesn’t align with your preferred narrative, lmao.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? I wasn’t attempting to speak for everyone. I was very clear in that I was speaking for myself and multiple guildies/friends, and that therefore you don’t speak for everyone.

I know reading comprehension is hard sometimes, but come on.

Not gonna lie. I do this. I am the problem.

Omg this here couldn’t be more true. I have one of each tank. And people just abuse them.

If you aint kiting the spiders that explode in ara-kara city of echos x.x

How is it the problem though? You are simply filling a role that is unpopular, and are being rewarded for helping allivate shortages and speed up ques for others. Its literally a win win. If there was no bag, for one i wouldnt be quing for normal/heroic dungeons as they have 0 upgrades, no gold, and cost money on my end via repairs.

So what is your plan to increase tank participation

I’m am currently lvl 44 Prot, shortage will be over once I lvl
