The Spotting Eagle Is Actually Hilarious

BTW, does anybody know the launch date of 11.1?

I still miss a A Murder of Crows. Two crows for a good omen!

So basically we got Nakoruru’s bird from “Samurai Showdown” as the new MM pet? :man_facepalming:t5: LMAO! Fight game heads know who I mean lol

No thanks. I did plenty of that vanilla through wrath. I am never setting my play time around other people again. I am never spending time coordinating just starting to play. I turn the game on and off whenever I feel the whim.

What’s messed up is the amount of goblin/gnome MM hunters that will bench their characters over this. It’s a total disregard to those that prefer mechanical pets for their immersion.

lol literally met a mechagnome last night, while leveling up my evoker, in hallowfall. He was decked out in the green steampunk armor, gun and his pet was a green wolf that was a robot. Marksman of course.

Told him if he knew about them taking away his pet as a marksman, he didn’t since he is super casual and was super angry about it. He logged off and said he was going to bench the character.

Well, at least I have Palworld. Blizzard’s (bad) decisions driving me more and more to other games and companies. I haven’t touched D4 in months and regret buying that joke of an expansion. I was expecting RoS levels of awesome and all I got was reskins and low effort content.

Hopefully, outside of MM changes, 11.1 is entertaining, but if Undermine is small and/or shallow I’ll probably cancel until the pre-launch of Midnight.

watching videos of the PTR, the MM eagle is stupid.

why does it even exist, tbh.

Note: I don’t play Hunter, and I am not arguing for MM to have pets again.

I’m just saying the eagle looks stupid. just give the MM Hunter some sort of non-animal spell effect or something. a Gadget maybe.

they will. cause the devs dont care about the players. PROVE ME WRONG BLIZZARD.

You know, I’ve had a few folks tell me about the changes when I’m on my mechagnome MM hunter, and I’ve basically told them I’m getting my hunter time in before I retire the class entirely lol

They care about the ones that want to play a spec that is focused on actual marksmanship thankfully. Not a gOoD bOy PuPpeR simulator.

Marksmanship does not involve sending an eagle to bug the target.

In fact, unless you are shooting at eagles, marksmanship doesn’t involve eagles at all.

Historically marksman did use eagle spotters. In any case it’s just a spell effect and they need something non-magical for the ranged physical dps spec. It’s really that simple.

Fortunately your opinion on the matter is as meaningless as mine. This is the future of the spec.

Yup. I’m a MM that likes to use my pet on one alt. Now I can’t. I’m stuck with a pet I didn’t want and can’t name and is the same pet as every other MM hunter.

I liked to go no-pet on another MM alt. Now I can’t. I’m now stuck with a pet that messes up the whole theme of the alt.

Lame change all around. At the very least let MM hunters tame and name flying pets for their “eagle”.

I just googled that and found absolutely nothing about historic marksmen using eagle spotters, so I call :ox: :poop: lol

That would actually be fine. If the whole point of changing up MM is to be a full ranger spec and not have pets, then why add a psuedo pet right back in? Just give it a spell effect and call it a day.

In some falconry practices, birds of prey were used to flush out game animals:

  • A trained falcon or hawk might be released to scare birds or small mammals into the open, where an archer could then take a shot.
  • This tactic was likely used in situations where visibility was low, such as dense forests or tall grasslands.
  • In certain cultures, like those in Central Asia , hunters used golden eagles to take down larger prey, such as foxes or hares.

FWIW I am not pro eagle. I am just fine with it if it gets rid of the main pet.

exactly. it’s Blizzard taking a half-measure instead of just doing the thing they wanted to do (remove pets from MM entirely).

1 - I’d appreciate if you could provide the source to that so I could verify it myself.

2 - Even if that source is legit, (I’m not saying it isn’t, but it could be Chat GPT, for instance), it describes that as a falconry practice, not a marksmanship practice. Personally, if I had to choose one Hunter specialization to describe Falconry, I would choose Beast Mastery, not Marksmanship.
