Enjoy!
ok kids - here’s a video from this past weekend showing the Spelladin in action on a live server against C’Thun…
That feel when you put in hundreds of hours of work just so you can end up 10th on damage while four mages drool on their keyboard and passively out damage you.
If that’s your idea of fun then by all means go for it but you definitely wont catch me or anyone in my guild playing this.
thank you for falling for my trap card…
Naxxramas is also coming out next week on Northdale, we can then use Exorcism and Strat Holy Water in the rotation and since we’re stacking loads of spell dmg with this setup both will hit like a truck - Holy Water especially since it scales at 100% of spell damage
and you know what that means kids…
PS Pillowfort…
Find it kind of hilarious there’s an entire orc brigade trying to bring down Theloras.
if the trolls had been actual TROLLS, it would at least make me /clap for their authenticity…
Quick question. How much in consumables are you using compared to everyone else? Would it even be viable without moneybags of gold or hours of farming?
Actual trolls are good people. Just stay away from the voodoo.
Orcs, on the other hand…
not my video - this was done by Holyfrog - but farming mats for consumables is done by literally every class/spec in Vanilla
Ret Paladins do have a bit more of a time commitment since we use both physical and magic in our DPS arsenal, but it is not anything astronomically different from every other player who wants to push the envelope and succeed in playing Vanilla/Classic WoW.
I can’t actually watch videos due to works networks which unfortunately have all been posted during my work hours but I’ve seen your previous spelladin video and it seemed like you were consuming consumables at an egregious rate or the potion chugging animation is throwing me off.
I’m all for showing class/specs/builds that subvert expectations and I think you’ve done that but I’m wondering how economically viable it is for a more casual player.
that one wasn’t mine either - it’s just that both Holyfrog (C’Thun video) and DeterBravo (Spelladin FAQ video) are both EU players and as a result cannot post on the NA forums here
but we are all ingame friends and all in the same Paladin theorycrafting discords so I offered to post their videos here since they cannot
but to answer your question directly, if anything Dexter bravo should have used even MORE consumables and debuffs in his video (he didn’t even use Judgement of the Crusader)
likewise with Holyfrog as he specifically handicapped himself as I mentioned earlier, yet still came 10th:
anyway, in order for any class/spec to truly succeed and push the boundaries of their DPS then they will have to farm - there’s no excuse for not showing up to a raid without standard raid consumables for your class/spec and that goes for every single player/class/spec
I don’t really think this build is for the casual player. It’s for people who love the class and put in the work to push its limits. For those who don’t want to grind nearly as much, you can heal as a Paladin or be a pure DPS.
From what I can tell, it’s very expensive, it’s incredibly tedious, but it puts up the most impressive numbers for hybrid DPS, as much as you can get.
Dues Vult!
playing Retribution has never been for the casual player and I have said as much since I wrote my first Ret guide all the way back on Feenix in 2013 lol
LOLRET
Since I have been asked for advice countless times in-game and here on the forums as well (5 times yesterday alone lol), this will be my stab at putting together as much of a complete list/guide for those of you willing to brave the insults and put downs by having the audacity to spec Ret. You will be passed over for other dps in 5man dungeons, 20man raids and endgame raiding guilds by people who are uninformed and know little to nothing about the class or the spec in particular.
You better have a thick skin otherwise you are in for a rough go… but once you have summoned up enough moral courage to push through all the naysayers and LOLRET namecallers, here is a guide for you to use to your heart’s content.

I’m getting that too.
Already plan on it 31/20 Holy/ret.
Very much agreed.
That’s not a problem for most people. I think the cost of playing the build is the biggest turnoff if you’re spending tens, if not hundreds, of gold per raid night on consumables alone to be visible on the meters.
but that’s the beauty of Vanilla especially playing Retribution - the sheer challenge is why we do it - if we wanted it to be easy, we would be playing BFA lol
the very fact that it is hard is the reward
PS also this from my guide…
HAVE FUN
Remember to play the game for your enjoyment, not for others - if you enjoy healing, great go nuts - but don’t let others dictate to you how to play a video game that came out nearly a decade out.
Have fun, tinker around with your gear, talents and playstyle - find what works best for you!

“Trap card” Yikes
Again, countless hours of farming to be 10th on DPS. Even with everything extra and being able to use extra abilities in Nax they’ll still be sub par.
You’ll be putting in a ridiculous amount of work and you still won’t compete with normal DPS classes. Have fun in Classic.
Oh also Theloras… Remember to bring your healing gear
you just fell into another trap card broheim…
So main things I am missing in that video:
never mind the fact that C’Thun is a terrible boss fight to parse any DPS class/spec due to the sheer RNG factors involved where some pug nub standing too close to you cause chain an eye beam and nuke you both or being ported to the stomach multiple times or sheer knockbacks of tentacle spawns.
the meta will truly shine come Naxxramas - which opens next week on Northdale - as Spelladins can then use Exorcism and Stratholme Holy Water (which scales at 100% of spell dmg) and since they will be stacking spell dmg up the ying yang, both will hit like trucks
so again, Pillowfort…
Yeah “trap card” LOL
You can literally have EVERYTHING in the game to increase your DPS and you still do a fraction of a Nax geared furry warrior.
Also, make sure to keep my buffs up during the fight if they fall off you’re losing your raid spot to another healer
is that the best you got?
surely you can troll better than that mr orc
The truth hurts. Get used to being a healer.
Oh I almost forgot, see you in Classic in your good looking dress
Yes, we will be wearing a dress in Naxxramas, but not the one you think…
