Any build that requires Crowd Pummeler to work is not going to be a meta build. Props to the diehard fans who create builds like these, I respect the time and effort that goes into it. Truthfully I wish I had a similar way to cheese Elemental Shaman into being viable raid dps.
But at the end of the day farming an on-use weapon that has 3 charges is just not something that most people are ever going to do.
lawl I was far from full BiS by a large margin and I swung NIGHTFALL in raids broheim with a 40% debuff uptime - which means my total raid dps contribution puts me in the top 5

Tell that to every single Feral Druid playing on private servers who will then transfer over to Classic along with new Feral Druids as well.
PS you farm multiple of them (Feral Druids can stealth to the boss that drops it in less than 5mins per run) and store them in your bags to break out one per boss - it’s no different than any other raid consumable in that sense
that’s where you are incorrect though - we can agree to disagree about SPELLADIN and MCPs, but in order for Feral Druids to perform anywhere near optimal, they NEED MCPs to get there for both Bear Tanking threat and Kitty DPS
I don’t understand some of you trying to rain on Theloras’s parade.
You can’t be for Classic World of Warcraft and then bash creative builds like the spell power ret, MCP feral druid, spell power hunter and spell power rogue. It doesn’t work like that.
Classic is a sandbox game. That’s why the developers put crazy stats on the gear in the first place. For people to experiment and have fun. Who cares if some fury warrior is going to do more DPS than the spell power ret paladin? That’s not the point. The point is to have fun and be different.
Also based on his private server stuff as some of you pointed out. Looks like Theloras has entered Naxxramus. That’s more than most here on this thread can say they’ve done. I certainly haven’t been there.
Seriously let people have fun and try to find new builds and explore their creativity. We already hear enough about what spec people should play or how they should play in the current WoW.
thank you for writing this as it is an echo of what I wrote in my original Retribution guide so many years ago…
HAVE FUN Remember to play the game for your enjoyment, not for others - if you enjoy healing, great go nuts - but don’t let others dictate to you how to play a video game that came out nearly a decade out.
Have fun, tinker around with your gear, talents and playstyle - find what works best for you! https://web.archive.org/web/20160306063330/http://www.wow-one.com/forum/topic/66225-theloras-retribution-guide/
I suspect they’ll rise in popularity once the endgame bumrush phase dies out. Until then, the matter is getting around people with a no-fun-allowed stick up their rear. Gotta have a pretty thick skin to power through 15 years of lolret memes(and their equivalents) until people realize it’s an RPG - the whole point is to build characters and use one’s imagination.
No one cares about your friends. Your group sounds like the type of people who scoff at modern day parses and want things to be done as perfectly as possible instead of as maximized as possible. Even the person you quoted said “UNLESS YOU HAVE LOTS OF GOLD TO BLOW ON MANA POTS”
Here’s the thing. People can crap on padding meters and wasting resources/effort on things that don’t need it all they want, but that’s the mindset of a loser. Real damage can go HAM at all points and pad meters to kingdom come. All. Damage. Matters.
a 99th percentile parser who took 100% more damage than a 50th percentile parser still contributed more.
The most efficient and ideal fight is the one where you do the highest DPS, the tank ends up at 1HP, the healers end up at 1 mana, and the DPS are all out of CDs.
Theoretical best is playing as risky and crazy as possible without actually losing.
dude, you are clearly off your rocker - the mini bosses on the Thaddius encounter don’t mean jack squat lol
they are a complete joke for the fight to the point that actual point is to not pull agro during the tank swap/punt otherwise you’ll agro and die
why would you go all out on threat sketchy non boss when the real meat is merely waiting to be served - the real DPS parse comes once Thaddius activates and everyone gains polarity charge for +190% dmg
stallagg and feugen are nothing more than blizzard saying - hey can you guys actually time two mob kills within a few seconds of each other otherwise the tesla coil will pwn everyone
then and only then (well after making the jump over the slime pit of course) will you be allowed to attempt Thaddius.
no one goes all out on the mini bosses and if they do, they are quite literally trying to pad the meters - which is why I reset my DPSMate addon after they die so as to only represent what truly matters…
The audacity to call others losers when you’re encouraging the mindset of everyone just giving up and becoming a poop-socker like a copy/paste NPC. That’s irony right there. No, the mindset of a loser is being bitter and pessimistic all the time. The loser is the one who gives themselves over to defeat, the one who succumbs and gives up. Everyone falls down, losers stay down.
I know you’ve already made up your mind, but don’t project your own past experiences on everyone else. That’s crab-bucket mentality.
It’s hard to debate with him, he tries to twist your words to make everything you say sound dumb, that or has a severe lack of reading comprehension. Like how my discussion of a spellingbee raid he posted about got turned in to discussing his nightfall ap tankleveldpsadin, something I wasn’t even talking about. Somehow stating that a spellingbee that was actually participating in a fight did poorly turned in to a debate about how you shouldn’t even be trying on the first phase of a boss fight because it isn’t the boss. (ignoring the fact that dragging gout the encounter is taxing on a healers mana)
For some reason he translates me asking that minimal effort be put in means one should go balls out and pull aggro…Honestly I have no intentions of changing his mind, I am sure he will find a raid to carry him. My only goal ever has simply been to relay to future paladins that they should probably pick another class if they are dead set on DPSing in raids, because it is very unlikely they will get to do so as a paladin. It was so in vanilla, it is so on pservers, stands to reason it will be the same in Classic.
I’ve always loved the idea of a spell blade class and even had a blast with my shockadin ret sniping people for huge crit holy shocks with judgement of the crusdar and 10% extra holy damage with sanctity aura up.
I might try this after this is put to the test on live and works as well as theorized.
lol stalagg and feugen are not taxing on the healers mana in any way shape or form - get real man - the object of the mini boss fight is TO NOT PULL AGRO DURING THE TANK TRANSITIONS/PUNTS and then to make sure that they die within like 5 seconds of each other
Both sub-bosses initially stand near lightning rods. If a sub-boss is pulled away from these rods, they will chain-lightning the raid. Every 20.6 seconds both sub-bosses knock the current tank over to the other platform, forcing a tank transition. They are both vulnerable to taunt.
Phase 1
Simply tank each sub-boss near where they start and DPS them down. Players with mana bars should fight Stalagg, while everyone else should fight Feugen. Mages and hunters can outrange the mana drain, so if the groups are too uneven then they can fill in for the missing spots. Note that they sub-bosses must be killed within a short time of each other, or they will resurrect each other (much like Thekal in Zul’Gurub). https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Thaddius_(original)
I’ve honestly tried what you guys are advocating here to go all out blow cds and go full deeps, which ended in me pulling agro and dying each time I’ve tried it. Going all out on the mini bosses isn’t worth it because every single player is needed for the actual boss once Thaddius activates.
Seriously get real…

See just like this, can’t read or intentionally twisting my words.
Dude, read this very carefully. I am not, and have never said that you should burn all of your CDs and go balls out. I have simply said try. You should be trying to do as much dps as you can without pulling threat. If you look at the spellingbees raid log from Thursday, you can obviously see that the warriors and rogues are holding back, a lot. But they aren’t just auto attacking. Same goes for the mages and locks on the other side. They were able to push a bit harder since there was less of them.
The spellingbee was at the bottom of DPS for that fight, and like it or not, that fight has to be progressed through in order to get to Thaddius, it is part of the encounter.
The great thing about logs is that you can break down things like damage taken and healing done. Healing actually looks higher during the mini boss phase than it does during Thaddius.
and I used Ashbringer for a single Loatheb attempt cuz it was a wipe fest that night for lol fail Nexus guild and I needed to regen health during the execute phase - that’s it - otherwise I was swinging NIGHTFALL the entire time
151654 (411/s)
1 AutoAttack (52366) 141.9/s 34.5%
2 Seal of Righteousness (22575) 61.2/s 14.9% 3 Drain Life (17313) 46.9/s 11.4%
4 Exorcism (14849) 40.2/s 9.8%
5 Judgement of Righteousness (12826) 34.8/s 8.5%
6 Consecration (DoT) (9086) 24.6/s 6.0%
7 Seal of Command (8663) 23.5/s 5.7%
8 Stratholme Holy Water (7221) 19.6/s 4.8%
9 Judgement of Command (4908) 13.3/s 3.2%
10 Life Steal (1847) 5/s 1.2%
just look at the next attempt when I went 8/8 tier 1 and then finally a kill on the third attempt again wearing 8/8 Tier 1 - both times with Nightfall:
8657 (34.7/s) 1 Healing Circle (6657) 26.7/s (32240) 129.4/s 95.1%
2 First Aid (HoT) (2000) 8/s (0) 0/s 4.9%
23858 (74.7/s) 1 Healing Circle (21296) 66.7/s (41621) 130.4/s 96.1%
2 First Aid (HoT) (1750) 5.5/s (0) 0/s 2.7%
3 Whipper Root Tuber (812) 2.5/s (0) 0/s 1.2%
next lie?
not just for loatheb as a whole - but a SINGLE Loatheb attempt that was wiping and I needed to try and regen health, hence why I swapped from Nightfall to Ashbringer
Dude… you are ridiculous. This is the stupidest way to argue. You’re cherry picking such dumb things here as a basis for your incredibly underhanded argument.
No, I am offering context. You/theo want to make obscure posts mentioning very little details. You are the ones cherry picking information that makes your build look good. I cherry pick nothing, I look at the totality of information.
First of all, Thaddius was only 1600 since you want to ignore close to half of the encounter. I merely pointed out that during the first phase of the encounter, he performed poorly. Also this retail big number mentality should be compared alongside the other dps, namesly that the top dps was 2300, putting the spellingbee at #10 in endgame BiS on a farming run. As I said originally, his performance on Thaddius wasn’t bad, just his performance during the first phase.
Hiegan definitely needed some context. He had to be carried by the raid to even perform on that fight. Healers had to keep him alive from all the damage he was taking, plus he was fed innervate and PI. And again, the retail big numberitis should be compared alongside the dps that did 50% more damage than him, Not to mention the favor favored melee, and he was among the lowest dps melee that fight.
