FF14 doesn’t care much about high end content, for wow it’s pretty much all people care about.
But that also means you have no reasons to keep raiding.
And if that’s what Blizzard want with Classic then they should release ICC already so we can be done with it and get out. It’s not like progression in Classic takes a lot of time.
Like, dont you play with the same people every week? Do you just join random groups and work all phase to gear your character up through SR rolls or GDKP or whatever loot system?
Ya know what, maybe that’s why we disagree. You see raiding as a way to get gear, and any system that lets other people get the same gear, even if it is delayed a whole tier, invalidates your effort.
I see raiding as a group activity you do with people you are familiar with. It’s kind of akin to joining a bowling league or something. Once or twice a week you meet up with some friends and loose acquaintances to play a game together.
I hold no value on the gear my character has. I could delete my character and start fresh and redo the build. I wouldnt even care if they put all the Ulduar 10man loot and below on a gold vendor next phase.
Just playing to have fun with people i enjoy hanging out with.
I see raiding as both. Character progression is important and social aspect is important.
Trying to put me in a box is just a waste of time.
You can look at this character, I don’t just do one thing. I don’t only care about one thing. So before attacking me, feel free to know about who you’re talking about.
Okay, we just place importance on the loot differently. The only thing I see with the Heroic++ changes is a way for alts or new characters who want to fill the roster a way to catch up so we don’t have to spend a raid night back in old content. I see no reason to gatekeep loot behind playing the game with 9 other people instead of 4 other people.
I’m not attacking you. Playing with pugs is not an attack.
I don’t want raid content removed, thats the fun content. Most people don’t have more than one or two nights to dedicate for raiding a week. The loot we’re arguing about is last tier loot. Who cares if they add it to something you can grind out on your own time.
And that’s fine they don’t have to play more. I have 5 days played at max level on my hunter he’s 4.6k gs . I have 9 days played on my mage at max level, he’s 4.9kgs.
I didn’t buy any boost, I just did a couple raids weeks after weeks.
Yeah, but I dont know its important to keep Naxx10 alive when Ulduar is out. I dont know why its important to keep Ulduar alive when Toc is out (but lets be honest, people are still going to run Ulduar even through ICC to farm shards)
We’re moving on to better things. Like, wouldn’t it be silly if before you could raid in wotlk, you had to get attuned by clearing out sunwell plateau? Tiers march forward, the gear from last tier doesn’t need to be safeguarded.
My only problem with boosts is that its a paid service. It should just be free. No one is playing wotlk to level a character through red ridge for the 25th time.
Every character playing should have a quick and easy path into the latest raid tier. More players mean more raids. So anything that helps players get there faster is good in my book.
Which is why my compromise of having T7.5 still stand. I’m fine at this point to make Naxx mostly irrelevant.
But still, I would be happy if they buffed again Naxx loot to make that experience better instead of pushing people into dungeons.
What made Classic more interesting than retail for many was that what you did before still felt relevant and that your character progression was meaningful.
It is sadly part of the wotlk experience, half the game is about leveling. You at least get heirloom which removes a lot of frustration from it. And yes I think that keeping Joyous journey could have been a decent compromise.
You see you win and lose players from that, it’s not simply adding more players. Why would I play ToC if it won’t matter for ICC?
I dunno, I remember still running Gruul’s lair into the SSC/TK phase still fishing for the dragonspine trophy for some people in the group. After a few weeks we basically said it wasnt worth it. SSC and TK took both raid nights before the nerf. Its frustrating if you didnt get your loot with the group because it feels selfish to drag people back to do content they were already doing for 4 months just to fish for a trinket.
Why play classic when TBC is coming out? Why play ICC with Cata coming out (maybe?)
Why play any game when eventually the content will run out? I’m having a good time with wotlk classic. The thing is, is that it doesnt even have to be wow. I could have fun with other games with the people I play with. Wow is just an avenue.
Also is why I prone to buff raid loot drops. Clearly they are ready to do it this expansion, so why not push that. Also having a bis trinket from the first phase that carry on more than one tier was a bit trolling from Blizzard.
Because ICC is better content than a lot of raids they have ever done. ToC is a bad raid and I’d prefer that phase was way shorter. The thing with Classic is we know.
Something that makes retail more interesting in some point is that you don’t really know what’s coming up and to be fair retail raids are way better than Classic ones. I just can’t be hassled with the terrible format.
And this scenario is playing out right now (not the multi-tier thing, just previous tier still being bis). There are plenty of classes where 25HM loot or 25 normal loot in general will still be BIS throughout the next phase. People still need Val.
Even with heroic++ coming out, people will still be running Ulduar 25 throughout the whole tier. Heroic++ won’t touch that engagement, because you can’t get val shards anywhere except 25 raiding.
Right now, we are running Ulduar 25man and Ulduar 10man teams to look for certain pieces. When TOC comes out, we will run TOC and Ulduar 25man. And anyone else who still needs a 10man HM piece wont have to rely on the guild to farm that. They have a grindable avenue in game to get what they want.
That’s only because of the iLvl boost.
Without the boost, there would be no gear worth getting at all, Hard Mode or not, once TOC came out. People would only be in ulduar to get fragments for val. Maybe some sidegrades until their TOC item dropped.
And I think the ilvl boost was a terrible choice in retrospective. Moreover when they want to add HM loot to dungeons. Feeling we’re going in circle at this point.
Ulduar has become P3 loot, there’s no reason to add P3 loot to dungeons in P3.
Below, from what I’d consider a pretty elite player, is by far the most accurate and sincere statement on H+:
I think it has played out what H+ really means for the game. It’s a place to farm 3 extra daily conquest with other raid geared people while new players and alts sit around watching tumbleweed because nobody runs normal HC dungeons anymore and nobody wants to do H+ with s— geared players.
Altogether I’d call it a bit of a disaster, but I don’t care because 5 badges a day adds up pretty quickly.
The real message was delivered with leaving out a regular heroic LFG option. Unfortunate, and I think impacts customer/player sentiment way more than the devs realize.
As someone that does not agree with this h+ nonsense, i can mainly agree with these points. However, imo, having an issue finding groups for such content wheather it be older raid tiers or the h+ alternative isnt as difficult as people make it seem. Just join a real guild. It seems in classic, people forget that this is a thing.
There are very few “real guilds” out there anymore. Exceptions being on the mega servers. The rest of us are just waiting for server mergers and reporting GDKP adverts.
RMT and GDKP has destroyed the game and likely made it more probable that Blizzard will continue with this H+++++++++++++++++++++++++ nonsense.
And your not wrong. But people do have options. Find like minded people and make your own guild, transfer to a diff server etc. Although it req doing stuff you kind of shouldnt have to because of the reasons you mentioned, there are indeed options out there.
