It incentivizes gold buying, and I’d bet my left kidney 90% of GDKP hosts and those who partake in it nowadays are severe violators of the TOS for RMT.
That’s really the only complaint these days, not sure why it’s hard for GDKPers to grasp the idea we don’t want RMT/p2w mechanics here.

Edit: I am not advocating for GDKP ban, but I do see how it ties into RMT and makes the game p2w.

Doing GDKPs might as well be buying gold if your raid leaders are actively trying to bring in buyers, which they all pretty much do.
The odds you bring in a buyer on a fresh toon that has the gold to buy all the items that may drop for them is NOT a RMTer is very low imo. I ran a few Ulduar GDKPs with my guild (not even hardmodes) and people would still drop like 40-50k on the tier shoulders off the last boss. Like sure, maybe they got that gold from past GDKPs… but that doesn’t mean it isn’t RMT gold because it all comes from somewhere

I absolutely despise GDKP because it’s p2w and the RMT ties, but it honestly isn’t the issue. The issue is RMT. What we need is for bliz to do frequent RMT bans.
It’s a win-win. GDKPs can continue, swipers get banned and lose money IRL.

My favorite part of anti gdkp andys is how much they reveal about themselves. All these thinga must be true!!! I feel it! Why? Because it’s what you would do and you assume everyone else is just like you. Its why you hate parsing and try hards too. You take the laziest route through life possible and anytime you see something you personally would abuse you assume everyone will.
Embarrassing really, but we go through this every 3-6 months. Each anti gdkp andy crusade thinking their both the first and the last.

I mean, you’re talking about how you’ve never bought gold but still go to GDKPs… Seems like you were trying to downplay how often RMT and GDKP go hand in hand.
Also, in order for me to make gold off of the auction house… I have to actually go farm something of value and sell it. You could go into a GDKP and make much MUCH more than anyone could just farming stuff and selling it on the AH. Although, at this point in the SoD lifecycle im sure the pots aren’t very big. But that will change over time.
My one buddy that was doing GDKP through most of WOTLKs lifespan never bought any gold, yet before he quit the guy was literally creeping up on a 200k gold stockpile. Granted I dont think he threw down a ton on bids, but he would often come out of the raid with like 30-40k if the hardmode loot was good
That is the root of the problem im getting at. You can participate in GDKPs and not buy gold, sure. But when doing a 1-2 hour raid once per week can net you more than someone farming gold for a few hours every day of the week with the most efficient methods, there is a problem. We’re not there yet in SoD because it’s still fresh, but it will play out like that eventually.
I like gold as much as the next guy, and doing GDKPs makes it so you never have to worry about it again… but that doesn’t mean it’s a healthy system

Wrath gdkp has hit mass hyper inflation. It’s the end of gold mattering. GDKP is over in cata. Most of the playerbase has quit wrath and I’d reckon a huge chunk of the base gave their gold away. I gave over 5 millon away at the end. Those payouts don’t matter and were never that high, percentage wise for gold in phase/xpac, unless you hit an absolute casino of high end loot.

Era servers are not progressive. Their a dumping ground. People try to act like it’s a real place to play wow and it’s comical. Imagine if someone told you they were getting really into d2 non ladder softcore seriously. You would look at them funny. Retail players are just such tourists they know none of this.
If you look at everyone who is anti gdkp the majority of them are very low performing players.
Its shocking how frequent its like that, i have yet to find any decent player who is anti gdkp.
