The real reason there are no healers. Just a rant

Healers are baby sitters though.

More multitasking than the rest of the group combined, but that’s healing.

What’s changed is player attitude and the aggression towards fellow players in a group setting.

It’s too spicy, I won’t touch it, I’ m leveling 2 DPS so I don’t have to think about it anymore.

Warlock is fun so far, did a T5 delve as a noob DPS, I had NO CLUE what the hell I was doing but I did it and only died once, was very proud of myself and my demons, I think I’m going to enjoy this slacker DPS life.

That’s an important point to make. Too many people have an instinctual fear of being wrong because the way we teach, but that’s a different topic. The point is they are afraid to be wrong because the punishment is they can’t play the game. You key gets downgraded and you have to spend another solid 20+ minutes just to find another group only for them to do the same thing. And then no reward at the end for most runs, punishment for failure…it’s not even hard content particularly, it’s just hard to get into now and it shouldn’t be. Challenge IN the dungeon isn’t the same as challenges finding a group that won’t give up at the first sign of a mistake.

definitely. it’s way more challenging if failing a mechanic can’t kill you

why are so many people bricking keys if it’s easy content?

I feel PUGs have always and will always chew out the healer first. I won’t say healers are perfect and don’t it too, but if the healer’s job is to keep everyone alive, they become a PERFECT scapegoat at a moment’s notice.

Why would anyone own up to their own death being their own fault when it’s easier to say “healer was asleep and that’s why I died, not because I didn’t do mechanics”? Most people won’t stop and look at details or recount to see if that’s factual or not.

Because thinking is hard and people are lazy.

I haven’t had this bad of a time healing since I tried doing LFD Heroic Dungeons in the first month of OG Cataclysm. It’s not good out there right now.

This was my favorite thing like this so far.

Ara Kara 10. First pull all the way to the big spider. Next pull all the way to the other one. Next pull, same thing. Then straight to the boss. No delay, everything chained. Right to the boss. Pulls. It dies. Zero deaths.

Immediately when the boss dies i drink. Tank says, “healer could you get some mana please? If i have to stop it kills the key, try to fit in.”

I couldnt believe it. Tell me you have never healed without telling me you’ve never healed.

Like, their own or some other persons elbow?

My dog does that to me sometimes when i try to ignore her.

because, as we have said about a dozen times at this point, people just give up the second they die. Seriously watched 11 groups in a row fail because some dip dps couldn’t stop standing in the dumb and died so the tank or healer just bailed. Nobody wants to turn their fun healing or tanking into an actual job. It’s already a challenge enough as it is.

And also, as always, easy is relative. For me and a lot of other people we should be able to cheeze anything sub +5, yet for some reason people can’t get their head out of places the sun doesn’t shine so they can see what is happening in their dungeon.

exactly. doesn’t matter how stupid everybody else is, somehow it’s always the healer’s fault we all die.

yeah. not sure if that is the same or worse than the people who just flat out don’t even notice you are low on mana. Can’t drink when you are constantly in combat…

both.

as someone who has mained a healer since BC and has had plenty of talk with healers its about %90 are tired of it %5 put up with it and %5 are to new to healing to care.

I’ve been healing since TBC too. It’s the role I enjoy the most in WoW.

I see that so much! As a healer for many expacs… not in the last 3, I see it too. I really try just to heal myself, help when I can, … I hear you. I really liked healing …then.

This is honestly the most infuriating part for me. My computer runs the game fine, but loading screens sometimes can take a while… And when I’m finally in, the tank’s already way ahead and dead  .

Like, if you wanna run ahead without a healer, fine, but make sure you got enough self sustain until I make it there.

The problem is everybody, including Blizzard.

The game teaches you nothing.
Players don’t care, they will just bail at first sight of trouble.
Players also don’t care in that they will join content they have NO IDEA about, nor know what to expect.
Players will watch a video or FaceTuber, see someone do something and think “I can do that”, but they can’t.
Players will go into content underprepared, yell and scream at each other, give bad advice, tell people crap that is not true and wipe some more, and then yell again and blame each other when the problem is, as OP put it, YOU.

Players just don’t take enough responsibility to themselves.

If you can’t do your DPS rotation somewhat correctly, hint: compare your DPS to Warcraftlogs, if you cannot use your interrupt, if you don’t use defenses, if you can’t dodge the crap on the floor, if you take frontals to the face like a certain orange and black website, then you have no right to be doing group content.

Take yourself out of the dungeon, out of the raid, stop doing PVP and do some reading on how to better prepare yourself for what other players expect of you and stop ruining the game experience for everyone else.

I think this is part of it.

Everyone wants their personals and defensives, but also wants max power reward to be tuned as if they don’t exist/players never use them.

we are all over here drowning in healers but starving for tanks.

I blame big mana.

We game in a time where unless you are dealing with energy, or rage, or casting - it’s all free unless you heal or are an arcane mage.

I love healing. I have loved healing for years.

Are people jerks to healers? Yes.

Do people give healers enough credit? No.

I don’t know what you could do to make people play healers more - they just have to enjoy it. I started WoW as a DPS player thinking “who would want to play a healer?” But after I did it, I enjoyed it.

People have to try it and see if they like it, instead of ruling it out. And - don’t let other people sap the fun out of it for you.

The fun part of being a healer is that when the other players are being dumb, you step in and save them, even if they are mouthing off while they stand in fire.

Or letting that one DPS die 5 seconds before the boss dies, just because their mog is ugly.

Their fate is in our hands.

Oozing with unjustified egotism.
You’re one of those people whom, at the first sign of something not going exactly how you want, you stop healing.

I feel healers catch the crap that should actually be spraying onto almost everyone else.

It’s a pretty interesting juxtaposition if you think about it.

Bad heals get treated like trash by “good players”
and Good healers get trashed on by “bad players”

A decent healer in a group of non-me’s doesn’t catch flak because everyone is doing their job. That’s the scenario we don’t hear much of, and I am willing to bet that is also the scenario Heals AND Tanks actively seek now.

I can’t wait till they integrate google into the game so you can look everyone up and see how they behave when they think nobody is looking, and then we can bring that data to the forums and really roast the living hell out of people.

Man, I can not wait.

I’ve never understood the whole blaming the healer/tank as the first reaction thing. It’s fairly easy to tell if you’ve got a “bad” tank, DPS, or healer. If mobs are running around smacking people, boom bad tank. If the group is slowly dying to unavoidable damage, boom bad healer. If the tank and healer are the only ones left alive after seemingly random spikes of damage, boom bad DPS.

However, all of that comes with caveats. It’s an online game, so disconnects or latency spikes happen. RL emergencies happen (cat’s on fire, brb!). Lack of prep happens. Tunnel vision happens, especially on repetitive fights.

Realizing this helped me chill TF out with snap judgments so I only get annoyed when I see a consistent failure happening over multiple pulls/attempts. Sadly, I know I’m an outlier. :face_with_spiral_eyes:
