The Real Problem With The Maw, And The Solution

Hmm when u hear “ pvp happened “ and “ just turn warmode off xd” for 2-3 years. What do u think my response is? Hm? Pvp happened. Next question.

Did you actually read the original post? I feel like I keep having to ask that because if you did, you would realize I am not complaining that PvP happened, nor am I complaining that people died, which is the second statement I say in the thread.

More rewards and a quest are quite the advantage to being in warmode for alliance.

Imagine a world in which people didn’t like pvp happening, and had a way to avoid that…

Gonna ask you the same question. Did you actually read the original post? Because the second line in it literally disproves your comment right here.

That’s not an advantage, that’s an incentive to toggle Warmode on. Dumb cow.

I don’t PvP however…

The Horde has done this to the Alliance for years. lol Before Warmode I could see it. Was insane. Many, many Alliance quit as they just couldn’t get enough people to fight (different reasons, usually not enough Alliance, but there were other reasons as well.) So, sort of Payback time. lol

Still, while Warmode is Warmode and PvP… Don’t like it-turn it off… Yes… But I also think it would be nice if people were polite.

Not going to happen I know… Sadly. A little consideration for the other person goes a long way in life, not just on a game.

I still don’t comprehend the ability some people have of apparently getting some form of enjoyment from blocking others from playing a game. I just can’t understand it.

I enjoy helping others to enjoy something, not preventing them from enjoying something. So very rewarding.

That however is just me. And yes, again… I don’t PvP. But that also gives me a bit of a viewpoint that is more unbiased.

Doesn’t matter which side is being nasty to me. I just think it’s very sad that players do this type of thing. It goes beyond PvP sometimes. PvP that is all one sided is not PvP. It’s just slaughter to block others from playing a game. Pointless, requires no skill… Just being mean to be mean. Which is to me, a total waste of time for no benefit other than oh I slaughtered a bunch of players because I could because there were so many of us and not many of them.

:face_with_raised_eyebrow: :unamused:

Pathetic.

The Horde did not lock down a zone through their own intentions to prevent people from being sharded with one another. If they did, there was never mention of it on these forums from what I could see. The Alliance did in this situation, and with a currency which is lost upon death. That makes this situation very different from previous situations on both sides, and as I repeat multiple times, this isn’t about the poor Horde, or the mean Alliance or whatever. This is to highlight a fundamental problem with sharding.

Oh, my apology, I misunderstood. Probably because I don’t PvP…

Yeah that is a problem. I hate sharding. I get the reason for it for the most part but I think it’s not working as well as it needs to be.

Shadowsong and BoreanTundra were the main servers about 4-5 years ago that really had a problem with Horde camping out and blocking Alliance players. Was totally crazy for a while. I think Blizz did finally do something as it did stop. But was really bad there for a while.

Those are my main servers and chat was flooded. I don’t remember if it came to the forums or not, but it definitely existed on the servers.

You’re good. Oddly enough, I saw other people complaining about this earlier as well, but from the PvE side of things now that there was a Calling which required grouping up in the Maw and people couldn’t see one another. So hopefully this issue becomes highlighted some more now that both communities have had a taste of it.

Entitled horde player is entitled.

You do know you can turn off warmode in Ve’nari’s camp? Probably falling on deaf entitled ears so why bother :woman_shrugging:t2:

I guess we can still camp horde just outside the safe zone 🤷
Il see you in the maw losers

Another person who didn’t read the original post. Again, my post is not about dying in PvP which is said in the second statement. It is about sharding and the fundamental issues with it.

No I read your trash post but deemed it as trolling.

You state your solution (to sharding you claim) is to remove Against All Odds. How convenient.

Makes sense, checks out :heavy_check_mark:

It’s also not really a Horde vs Alliance thing. As if memory serves, the world pvp stuff in Nazjatar couldn’t be completed if you were Alliance. At least not realistically anyway.

So its a case of “dropping a boatload of players into an extremely small area, all of them flagged for pvp, with actual punishment for dying.”

The issue I have with Stygia is that there’s no way to STORE Stygia between Maw Runs. The way they did Stygia is about as smart as cashing your paycheck at the end of the week and keeping the entire amount, in small bills, in your wallet, until the next paycheck.

It’s simply foolish. You’re not going to carry that much money on you regularly. And if you are carrying that much on you, you’re probably planning on buying something obnoxiously expensive.

So, if you gathered up 5,000 stygia over the course of multiple runs and die once far away from a graveyard, you won’t be able to get back in time to recover all that lost Stygia. I had that happen (not the amount, the distance). My body decomposed before I got back (It has a timer before it vanishes).

As to your solution of removing AOO, that won’t Fix a single thing. You’ll still have ganking and large amounts of pvp happening. Because you know what, this same problem happened on Argus. People would be waiting right by the spot where you teleported down. Quite often your body would be there before the load screen was done. Load screen would vanish, and you’re on the ground, dead.

That DID happen on Argus. So its an issue of Tight Area, Small Zone In Location, Everyone Flagged.

The SOLUTION they gave did work. Of having you immune to attack for a time after you zoned in. THAT works.

The issue with Stygia and its poor design still stands however.

Someone else brought this up so I’ll repeat my question, apologies if it’s been answered, but if this is true, they already fixed the problem when they fixed the issue with group sharding. Why then, did they add the invincibility on top of that?
It was overkill and you know it.

Read the whole thing.

I did not say to remove only AOO. Once more, you have proven you did not actually read the whole post.

Again, I did not say remove AOO. I said remove AOO, and all warmode bonuses from both factions. The reason why warmode became horde-mode was because people were being given incentives and knew they would be uncontested, which was wrong off rip and I made that clear more than once. There should be zero incentives. For both factions. Zero.

It wasn’t fixed. It’s still happening even now which is why there was another thread about grouping in the Maw being discussed on how people couldn’t group up for the PvE dailies over in Perdition Hold despite actually being in a group together. That thread was made today.

This so much. Would actually fix a bunch of the issues on both sides.

Realistically more people sign up for a free bonus than they do for the chance that they will benefit from a large bonus but at a significant disadvantage.

On top of that, things like AaO don’t address or attempt to fix the problem. They encourage a small window where it is profitable to play in a very specific way (multiples of 5 man groups) for a free advantage.
After which players are free to turn off WM for their regular play of the game.

I’d honestly rather they keep the PvE rewards, but make War Mode a free for all. World PvP should come with extra reward, it comes with extra risk. You don’t need to give anything crazy exclusive, but what’s wrong with extra anima per week or something? The only thing you need to do is make it a big free for all kill zone so groups are encouraged to get broken up by zerg rushes from both factions. I’d much rather have tense encounters with EVERYBODY in WPvP than deal with some hilarious racial profiling where I just go “Oh that guy’s Night Elf and I’m Night Elf, he’s fine, AN ORC KILL IT” and vice versa. It’d make questing out in the world more tense.
