The ranking system is abusive and unhealthy and therefore needs a simple fix

wow! thanks for pointing out how the system works, as if anyone didn’t know! That is the problem with this system, is that there is no cap for playtime and it ONLY rewards playtime, nothing else. So… people account share. That is all. IT is who can account share the hardest.

It sounded like you didnt know, hence wanting the system changed…

Weekly caps have brought about never ending grinds as seen in retail - do you really want r14 to be a classic version of AP

The system is designed in a way that only allows a very small percentage of the population to aquire this absurdly overpowered gear. Could you imagine the difference in total player/faction power if 3 thousand players had R14 gear as opposed to 30?

Gear and rank aside, if all I want to do is play BG’s all day long because that’s what I find most fun about the game, why should I be prohibited from doing so simply because other players are unable or unwilling to?

Very valid point. Perfect.

It is very common in the game that they put in achievements and content that are best completed with an unhealthy amount of gameplay. We then hear complaints about players who were trying to complete those thing.

No, you can’t have it both ways. If it’s in the game, it’s at best a come on for people who tend to be attracted to that sort of thing. At worst it’s blatant exploitation.

Stop blaming players for game mechanics. If they didn’t want unhealthy game mechanics they wouldn’t keep putting them in the game.

You mean bad players who never will get to raid in any mid-tier guild, or do any PVP beyond mediocre level stuff?

Sure.

The original pre 1.12 system, did reward skill, but it was too hard for many, so they patched in xrealm and increased the possible players on each rank.

When I made Rank 14 and I did it twice, we actually won all of our BG´s for several months, we even won against raid geared premades. Before I hit Rank 13, my average playtime was about 6-8 hours a day. Only at Rank 13, I increased it to 10+.

If you win, you gain much more honor, than someone wo plays more, but always loses.

Thing is, with xrealm this is different, as it rewards the time spent in a BG, as diminishing returns won´t kick in that fast, as the pool of players is much bigger. That´s why so many did gain Rank 14 after 1.12. by account sharing and botting. Pre 1.12. that was very rare, as it was not useful to just play, as wins were important.

Make pvp realm only and you have a simple fix that works. But then people will face queue times, which they don´t like.

It finally sunk in that you will never be rank 14, eh comrade?

more like 30 account sharers as opposed to 300 real players? U dont have to make the other system easy. Also the gear gets outdone by AQ its not that great. The rogue gear I know for a fact has LESS attack power than t1.

It’s not gonna change sooooooooo deal with it

Oh trust me on my server individual Horde will spend a very limited time in BG’s because of the q.

I wish people would stop saying this. R12-14 gear is on par with AQ40 gear. In fact for pvp/world grinding the pvp gear is better due to additional survivability and utility.

They didn’t nerf it. The reduction to 50 yards made it better.

This was created back when MMORPG’s where mostly a timesink and not a skill based thing. Vanilla like many old early 2000’s mmorpgs where meant to have alot of time gated things as alot of the game was based around it as the games where simpler. That is why leveling was most of the original mmorpg games. Wow created more the “end game” where the leveling is just a gate for not having 18 characters day 1 trying to get into raids. Most games now focus on the gameplay and skill absed content rather then the storytelling timesinks and grinding of old.

Real O.G.s were the ones making addons in vanilla and were some of the top tier players back then

Dont forget the macro’s. Weapon swap macros. 1 shot macros. Having simple keybinds and stance macros on a warrior set you apart from the ‘clickers’.

I remember when the general consensus back then was warriors were garbage dps, until a warrior made a video with proper gearing and destroyed ppl. A lot of players were just flat out bad back then. The skill gap was far larger than it is now.

We were labled tanks only. No rolling on leather/mail dps gear. Deep prot only for tanking.

I think alot of the ‘bad’ warriors were just simply fed ‘bad’ info on the class.

This is why TBC Classic is a big conversation among the PvP community.

Unfortunately, the Honor system is an important part of the vanilla experience and isn’t changing. A lot of people like it. Those that don’t, aren’t forced to participate. Raid gear is mostly better by the time you get to AQ anyway.
