The problem about Plunderstorm isn't that it's bad

You should be getting around 6-900 plunder in 5 minutes. Die and reque.

I was averaging 9-10 games an hour.

I work a full time job (that no, I can’t play at), have a family, and went to a birthday party this weekend.

I did 2-3 hours a night Tue-Friday. Played most of Saturday, and was level 33 when I went to sleep around 11pm.

Woke up Sunday, and finished in about 3-4 hours.

No; This doesn’t require “no-lifing” or being a “NEET”.

It’s one of the shortest grinds in WoW.

But it doesn’t fix the PVP problem, if it were there wouldn’t be PVEers in it, we been asking for a fix to PVP for years, this is a here’s something! now shut up… a timed event, so then you can go back to the same old broken PVP when it’s over. I’m glad people are enjoying it or hating it… but Blizz didn’t give it to the PVP community… which I see so many PVPers thinking they did… I see a lot of PVP statements… Ahh blizz finally gave us PVPers something and everyone wants to whine about it… they didn’t give PVP anything… because you get no exclusive PVP rewards, you get exactly what everyone else gets… just a distraction to keep from fixing the PVP problems.

The game is a mess, as a solo player experience.

Playing with a duo makes it easier to land somewhere and getting skills, but 60 people are way too much for these maps. I played seven maps (!) now and only got 20 to 50 plunder out of it. Either you spawn randomly on the map somewhere, where you can easily target bigger mobs for skills or a look for locations outside the big spots, which put you directly into a disadvantage.

And before someone yells “skill issue” - I won three times first place in duos, so I know what I’m doing. The matches would profit from 10 players less. The game is far more enjoyable and accessible for duos. I feel for the solo players, it’s a frustrating mess to play it alone.

At the same time, the tornado is too strong and the fish too weak at the moment.

For you for me it’s like smite but crappier cause every character is generic.

I want to PvP with my character and it’s character skills, not generic Pirates.

The sad thing is they jumped on BR cause it appeals to a wider audience and is one of the reasons this stuff is a success but for me, I would of rather seen them straight up copy Smite, make a moba and instead of giving us generic Pirates have actual thought out classes/heroes Based on WC3 in a moba mode, but even that might hold my interest for like 10 minutes.

BR is a boring game mode I don’t enjoy no matter the style of game. Classic versions of WoW are hard carrying subs based on that graph. DF has only been good enough to not bleed an entire section of the playerbase like SL did, and I’m sure positive word of mouth has brought back some people, but overall Classic (HC and SoD currently) are what drive subs.

The future of WoW is classic, and this well it’s just some weird game wearing a WoW skin suit. If you like it great, I’m sure you’ll be getting more FOMO stuff in the future to play Barbie dress up in retail with all your collectibles.

Well thought out post. Well worth reading and pondering

Killed the whole vibe with the last sentence.

The only time that I feel like I’m wasting my time in Plunderstorm is when I die early.

Like, just landed, have only got my default attack and heal, and someone who landed before me ganks me while I’m trying to get my quest done.

Otherwise if I can get the daily quest done for over 1k plunder, and net a bit extra, grab a few abilities etc, then I don’t feel like I’ve wasted my time.

:ratge:

The problem with it is it was advertised as a wow patch but didn’t add any actual wow content.

I hate how Blizzard handled the plorm rollout.

But this right here is completely valid.

I watched the WoWcast and not once did they say it was for everyone. Maybe their twitter marketing people suck but the devs themselves were honest about what it is - a PvP game mode. Hopefully people will walk away with this with the knowledge that PR people are PR people and if you want an honest take listen to what the actual developers say.

Theres no player power in Plunderstorm

Basically all of my criticisms about plorm comes down to marketing.

I don’t like battle Royale, I won’t play it but a lot of people do and more people in the game is a good thing.

Putting it on the retail roadmap was profoundly stupid.

Speaking of brainless grinds I got the legendary on my DK this week and MY GOD who thought that grinding rares and superblooms would be a fun thing to do!

I managed to do 3 superblooms and 5-6 rares over the weekend and I had to log out. It’s so bad.

The thing is that compared to Shadowlands, this isn’t even an “in-game mode” in WoW.
And what I mean by an in-game mode is “something queue-able in WoW”.
Not a selectable mode on a character screen where you have to choose between booting retail WoW or Plunderstorm.
Not sure why they didn’t make it a completely separate client at this point.

Anyways, regarding the grinding, yeah.
Compared to the Hearthstone promotional event, you could just log on and get the mount. Heroes of the Storm mount I think you had to play a few games, but nothing crazy.
But this? Reknown 40 is a huge grind and with no PvE mode.

I can understand this type of grind if the reward was solely for Plunderstorm, but tying retail WoW rewards to a huge grind in another game is lame as hell.
And this is probably the main reasons I’m hating Plunderstorm.
Its not just the grind to reknown 40, its also “time limited” which is making it worse.

Because the content is literally coming in a few weeks.

10.2.6 laid the ground work for Season 4, which starts soon.

What changes did 10.2.6 introduce to DF that you consider “the ground work for Season 4”? Cause the only change I’ve seen in the main game is bugs. Things like constantly changing settings in my (default) UI.

Yup, clearly just mad.

Making it a secret patch was profoundly stupid. If they had said “new special PVP mode” or something of the such people would not have created their own expectations for this. They didnt need to give away what it was, just the player base this was targeted at. I dont think they are dumb enough to think this was gonna be super well received by a large portion of the player base, inclusion of mount and mogs suggests they knew that they needed incentive to get a lot of PVE players to play. So this seems to also suggest they knew this. Feels like calculated deception to me, but meh their concern seems to be engagement numbers not player happiness.

then don’t do it.

something I’ve noticed about people who claim others are toxic is that they are usually the toxic ones, and usually whine a lot.

They didn’t say that but even if they did it’s not meaningless, else you wouldn’t be here complaining about it. It’s also not brainless since you’re being outplayed.
