it’s that it’s SO bad that you honestly feel like you’ve wasted your time, even when you get lots of rep or even win a match. EVERYTHING about this game mode is a toxic, cancerous grind and it’s honestly really disheartening that the community isn’t complaining more that blizzard is just straight up disrespecting our time by shoving this schlock out and gating 40 rewards behind no-life-ing it.
I thought they said no more meaningless, brainless grinds after Shadowlands? This is the new Shadowlands I guess.
I’m sorry you feel this way about it, but this is certainly not a universal sentiment. Even in games where I die at level one I don’t feel like my time has been wasted.
I don’t personally enjoy Plunderstorm but I can see why it would be wildly popular with other people given the popularity of fortnight and pubg and those kind of games.
So… I don’t play it. And that’s ok. It’s GREAT that the DEVs did something from left field, totally new for the game, even if it’s not for me personally.
I had fun with it even though Battle Royale games are not my thing. There was a certain dopamine hit for out playing someone who was either higher level, or using fire whirl, or overcoming the odds to steal away the victory. Also felt like a boss when the killfeed was just me picking people off one after the other or sometimes two at a time.
It is, however, a rat race and to win you have to play like a rat.
While I agree, that the no-lifers and NEETs have an easy time getting everything they want, the actual mode is fun - if you play it as a duo. Not only is it more tactical but also fun.
I agree both with this and the original post. Plunderstorm is absolutely awful. But it is still leagues above the complete dumpster fire that is WoW PvP. Both are terrible experiences in their own right.
Then pvp in normal wow must be truly awful. Landing in a relatively small zone with 59 other people, none of whom are from your own faction and who want to kill your character for whatever tiny reward it gives, does not actually feel like PvP to me. It’s more like being chucked into a huge NPC mob somewhere on the map where there are minimal opportunities to hide and few interesting rewards for your time spent in a tedious round of doing it all over again, and again.
