Just read the posts from those who tell the rest of us what fun is, while at the same time suggesting that those who would prefer not to forced-war-mode-on are trying to dictate fun to them. These threads are a psychologist’s wet dream.
The wrath event was ok. The only real issue it had was greifing outside of cities. But back then we didn’t had phasing tech so it might turn out differently.
Actually the greifing in the wrath event was pretty bad. I don’t remember how, but ppl managed to get the plague in far off zones and espaically low level areas to a point no player could do quests. So I can understand the out cry from some ppl.
Eh I don’t. It’s a limited time event that will smash the status quo for a week or so then everything will be back to normal. People acting like it’s the end of the world.
This is literally why i dont have the holiday meta achieve. I wont do the pvp things because im not a PVPer and last time i tried i got yelled at by the PVPers in the instance.
I think my main problem with it on the PTR was I had no idea what was happening. I picked up the event quest and ported to Org. And turned into a zombie and died before I could even read the tool tips on the zombie mode abilities. Then died again.
Eventually I got free of the swarm, but not everyone was there in Wrath. Not everyone is expecting PvP when they have war mode off and just ported to one of the safest rooms in the game.
I hate having to rely on outside web guides just to figure out how to get the auction house. At the very least give me a bubble or a quick tool tip to help me figure out what I should be doing in game.
I don’t mind dying if I actually engaged (or opted to engage in a mode) where that is a possibility.
I’m sure the event will be a blast, but some form of ingame “get ready” would be useful.
While I do agree it would be nice for an opt out system to be implemented, your solution forces players into faction vs. faction pvp. It does to others what you don’t want done to you. The opposite holds true for those who want to engage in faction pvp while not engaing in the event. So here is what may be a better solution.
As one who wants to participate in the event, i do have one issue. I get terrible lag as I enter a new zone as I have to wait for the zone to download. Simply place champions of the Light around flight masters and portals. These champions could bless said areas keeping effects of the event at bay. These champions, if asked to do so, could also give a 15 minute debuff protecting the player from the effects of the event.
What I’m curious about is after this entire “fun”. Are we going to have some sort of after? With Legion, there were after effects in the xpac. Is the zombie prepatch going to scar us someway? Visible, not being psychological? Could there be a cinematic way to see the event a la worgen being turned in their starting area? That’s what I’m concerned about. So what if I get ganked. I can log off or get somewhere else and I LOATHE pvp.
The event sounds interesting, if they tune it down, but I want to know what’s next. Otherwise this is just a nothing burger event none of us should be twisting our panties about.
The player controlled zombies could also be treated as a charmed character, much like you were when you became a demon in Legion’s pre-patch, instead of being flagged. This allows everyone to be able to fight them & doesn’t force PvE players to have to be in PvP without us wanting to be, while PvP players get to continue to screw each other over to their hearts content. It fixes the issues of people not wanting an “opt-out system” and allows both groups to participate with their favored form of gameplay. It also keeps the capital cities as being the most chaotic places for the event as the safe zones are were PvP & PvE players all congregate.
