Possible, but Dragonsoul failed on the fun aspect as well. Fighting Deathwing was a terrible fight for all involved.
Because you don’t actually fight the dragon who, by his own right, is a fairly bad chap, old gods or not.

No not really, dragonsoul overall is a pretty fun raid but has a rather disappointing ending. Spine and madness will not be cleared by the vast majority as they are still very hard fights compared to anything in Woltk.
They will be cleared by absolutely everyone and everyone will be bored by it.
We fought the dragon though, we just did it in a more interesting way than we killed dragons before. The two whole last fights are against the dragon. Honestly preferred the way the deathwing fight was packaged compared to single room dragon bosses with the same mechanics as all the others outside of like one BESPOKE mechanic. Exception for malygos as it was different enough from sarth, ony, haaaaaylion, etc.
I will say though, to your point, this did snowball into us watching NPC characters doing everything in a cut scene after we did them in the fight. which was really boring for the next few expansions.
Yeah probably.
Seeing most havent even killed lk with 20% buff, nah. (Was talking about heroic in both cases if it wasnt clear enough)
Aha, yeah, you kinda do need to emphasize this for the expansion that brought about LFR.
I agree, thought it was kinda clear because classic players just want the best loot possible.
I’d rather not further kill the reason for guilds to exists.
But you do… we are ants attacking a Kamoda Dragon. How exactly do you expect that fight to go? He isn’t our size.
Highly doubt it. Peoepl are still having issues with Ice Tombs on Sindy and Biting on BQ. Guilds are still having issues with H LK. Not everyone will be able to clear it, and more than likely people won’t be bored with it.
Again it is a time-spent thing… people got bored because they spent over a year killing it…
You could be stabbing him instead of tentacles in the exact same fight.
That’s on you.
LFR was pretty good for getting people to see content.
I watched the fight you are stabbing him and the tentacles which are also him.
Yep, that is on me I quit in Firelands because I and everyone else in my guild had college and stuff like that.
Granted, it probably didn’t help we also decided to change realms from Wildhammer to Ner’zhul… but yeah.
You stab at his scales to get to more tentacles
Either way, my dislike of Cataclysm really has very little to do with the last raid and I think the complaints about that one are a little overblown even if it was ridiculous.
My main complaint with Cataclysm is that every game system felt like it took a backseat to the world overhaul.
Guilds get perks in Cata - you are fine.
There is almost no solution that will work for everyone therefore probably best to just leave it alone. In a perfect world bosses of that current raid would drop a currency like x1 per kill and could be carried into the next raid and earned in that new current raid and stop dropping in the old one and be used to “bid” for gear and be split throughout the raid team that attended but the coding for that would be insane and we all know that isn’t going to happen.
I have raided on as many as 10+ chracters depending on the tier to only raiding on 5 right now 1 guild raid and 4 gdkps. I as well as many others likely don’t have the ability to raid with multiple guilds because with the way that they release content and people competing everyone usually always wants to raid the same day Thursdays rn
GDKP is the only method that everyone that attends gets rewarded for their time, the issue is the fact that people bring their IRL wealth into the game to ruin the experience for others. I would be heavily against this considering I have a million gold that i’ve accrued through countless raids in wrath raiding from as much as 20-40 hours + a week.
SR runs are cringe because half the time some awful player ends up loot you want and you can just go weeks without getting a single upgrade. If I don’t win an item which trust me i’d much rather get an upgrade or two instead of a 20-40k payout but a lot of the time that isn’t how it works out because i’m constantly competing with whales that buy a ton of gold. But eventually i’ll get lucky and the stars will align where everyone has it or people don’t want to spend and I can get affordable gear weeks in.
TLDR, every other method of raiding doesn’t compensate you for your time like GDKP does so unless they introduce one i’m not interested especially losing gold I poured blood, sweat, and tears into.
…At this point the only thing they really do can be handled by Discord; guild perks actually GIVE YOU a reason to be in one outside of being able to read a chat that isn’t /4.
So in other words you have effectively zero life outside of this game and presumably the job that pays the sub.
You’re about as far from the average player as Bobby Kotick is from being a worthwhile human being.
It’s almost like the rest of us consider this a hobby, something we do for fun, instead of like a job we need to get paid for.
This reminds me of an article I read years ago about a person who made $300K a year complaining about the stresses of their life and how poor people wouldn’t get it, like debating whether or not to send their kids to private school or save money with public schooling…when the people they’re saying “wouldn’t get it” are the people who have to choose whether to send their kids to school in the first place or have them drop out to do something that awards an actual income so the bills can get paid slightly more reliably.
You have more gold than could possibly be reasonably spent on anything until that million-gold mount comes into the game; pardon me for giving zero craps about your problems related to an imaginary number that’s long since hit the point of irrelevance.
Whats funny is I’m considered pretty much poor in the gdkp scene and that you somehow think one million gold means ANYTHING is hilarious. There are people that regularly spend 200-400k gold per raid.
Im sorry that you’re basically considered homeless in wow terms and you think everyone else should be because you refuse to put in the time that people like myself do.
The most expensive NPC-bought item is a single mount at something like 20K before rep discounts. Don’t know off the top of my head what all costs Cata brings, but I can be certain anything over maybe 150K is epeen in the same way playing through Dark Souls is to people who don’t give a Rat’s Tail about that series.
This has real “‘have fun staying poor’ said by someone who spent hundreds of thousands of real-world money on NFTs and still hasn’t let go of the bag they were left holding” energy. At the very least I can be certain that any gold I make is A: not from bots and B: if it was, it came through the AH instead of through a GDKP.
Frankly, I’d agree with the whole Personal Loot thing if it ignored all crafting recipes before the most recent expansion just to make people like you have to actually join the plebs who quest for their gold.
Almost like I have a job and other hobbies that take precedence over a rerelease of a game that initially came out something like 15 years ago?
f the time you spent in game. I’m not saying I support the changes suggested in this thread but I sure don’t care at all what a no lifer in the game thinks about the game.
How would you fight something that big directly though, it’s like whenever we’ve fought an Old God. They’re actually much much much bigger than what we’ve seen when we’ve fought them but for the fight they’re just small immobile punching bags, the same is applied to Deathwing in its own way.
Cope and seethe like the pally* that is mad at the world because it seems he’s also poor IRL and mad at everyone else about it.
You’re the one who seems to be poor in real life. You’ve admitted you don’t have one when you told us how many hours you play this game. You even bragged about it thinking your accomplishments in game are a value to be admired when it’s just a confession of how small you are as a person and proof of how little you’ve accomplished IRL.
