Why not just let people switch class, too, with a button click? Need a tank, just change yourself in a warrior, or a priest for healer. It would be almost the same thing.
It may seem like a minor thing, but it does change the game and remove RPG elements. When we specialize and are forced to stick with it, we develop an identity and a reputation within the community in that specialized role.
A prot warrior and a fury warrior are almost different classes. Same with shadow and holy priests. If everyone can easily switch between them, you end up with a game that basically has FEWER class choices and variety.
Also it creates problems with loot. Hybrids will be rolling on EVERYTHING against the pure classes because, hey, they can play any role with a button click. I wouldn’t think the mages, rogues, hunters, and warlocks would want that.
It is supposed to be limited. Why can’t you understand that? Your spec is an integral part of your character’s story. Blizzard gave us a way to change it should we make a mistake or wish to try another. But if you feel the need to change your spec weekly, it is going to cost you.
There are many different styles of game play in WoW, and different classes have different specs that align to different variations of game play. DPS, healing, tanking, PvP, raids, 5mans, farming, etc. To pigeon hole yourself into one spec because “choices” while making other types of game play punishing because of that is stupid imo. A level 60 character trying to effectively participate in these different types of game play, to the best of their ability, can easily spend 200g a week on respecs alone. You should not being penalized for wanting to enjoy the different aspects of the game. The more people participating in the different game play loops the better it is for the game and the better it is for everyone else.
You aren’t being penalized for anything. You are playing the game. High respect cost is part of the game. Take it or leave it. Complaining about it won’t change a thing and just makes you look like a whiner.
My main will be a Prot warrior it’s what I always play. If I want to Dps then I will make another warrior for Dps. There should be some sort of finality to your build where you don’t need to respec. That is what an MMORPG is. You try to make the “BEST” build you can with what you plan to do.
This also adds to the benefit of playing Alts and other characters to “TEST” things. Being able to switch easily between Healer to Dps ruined the game on every level!! It is terrible for any RPG. If you want to Heal and Dps make 2 characters thanks.
Absolutely wrong. You are building up your character and the decisions you make are really important. If you can respec freely and often you end up with no decisions mattering. You end up with unplayble retail.
In any RPG it should be hard to respec. This places an importance on decisions and making the best build to try and minimize weaknesses. Having talent trees and careful planning with professions and gear built around your build makes the game amazing.
Sorry but respect has done nothing but ruin the gameplay for an MMORPG. You remove character identity and the core point of playing a build. To build the very best build. Then to make many Alts and have a replay value.
When people see Abomb in game they know I am a Prot warrior and will never play Dps with this character. It was a glorious time. It’s an MMORPG.
Look. This is not a remaster. This is a museum piece, made to be as close to the original patch as possible. That means your arguments for changing the respec costs are going into the wind.
And I politely offer this. If you wish to play, I suggest you make the best of it, like everyone else. Learn how to make gold, play a class that can raid, farm and pvp without changing specs (hunter, maybe?) if this really bothers you.
Learn to live in a world where the life of luxury you’re used to now isn’t there. It really isn’t so bad.
Indeed considering all the Quality of life changes in Retail is what destroyed WoW and made it unplayable. Now we wait for a version of the game that is enjoyable again. Easy respecing is disgusting for an MMORPG. The problem is gamers today don’t know how to make decisions. You know what sucks about Retail? When you make a mistake you can easily correct it. That is garbage game design if I ever seen it.
Mistakes should be teaching tools. They should suck, cost a lot of gold and take hours to fix so you learn and become better at the game. That is what Vanilla offers. It is unforgiving to the players that don’t read and learn about their build/class. Vanilla/Classic is a better game, more immersive on every level!
We would hate to have easy respect in this game, it would destroy it and further more it wasn’t in Vanilla.
So I wish people would just stop asking for it, there is a garbage watered down version of the game called Retail.
Having Respec being incredibly hard only adds to the game. Why don’t people get this? It’s beyond me.
all that time fixing a ui hiccup couldve been better spent actually learning to play with the right setup. im not learning anything by running deadmines over and over again to save up enough to fix a misclick
Sure you are. You are learning during those hours to not misclick again aren’t ya? You are playing the game longer getting better to not make foolish mistakes.
What ever class you pick there should be some finality to your build. Vanilla was designed with a system that doesn’t need you to respec often. If you choose that though a system is in place that is amazing that removes gold from the economy.
You honestly don’t need to respec more than a few times per character. Then you can make Alts as well. To learn even more. I don’t get respecing more than once or twice each phase.
The game isn’t supposed to be play multiple builds on a single character. If you want a fire mage make a fire mage. If you want a frost mage make a frost mage. That is how it is supposed to be.
A lot of vanilla was taken from Diablo which I played for 6 years. If you misclicked a talent point. You deleted that character and started over. If you wanted multiple builds you made multiple characters. That is what an RPG is supposed to be. Each character has a finite identity to it.
