The old pvp ranking system needs tweaks

Too bad, its what you signed up for.

It actually isn’t. We signed up for the original system with normal population levels and no cross realm. Population drastically effects how grindy this ranking system is.

That is a Strawman.

The lack of empathy here is appalling.

Well if you are talking about how some people treated me and even flagged my post multiple times to get me automatically banned twice and get my posts deleted then yeah, people are evil like that.

Fortunately the gm’s/moderators unbanned me those 2 times and last time put again my post (this one).

I have played wow since vanilla and have always been a hardcore pvp player but I was only able to reach rank 9 in Vanilla as I didn’t play much being 13 at a time and getting daily “too much games” rage from parents. The biggest issue I have with this “ranked” system is exactly as OP says, it just takes a ridiculous amount of playtime to achieve and promotes cheating. Almost every person I know that got R14 has account shared to get it, the only way to do it LEGIT is if you have no job, 0 responsibilities and absolutely no life. It takes absolutely 0 skill to hit rank 14…It’s QUANTITY>QUALITY. You could be the most skilled Multi R1 arena player but unless you can put in 15hours a day minimum spamming BGs everyday for months, forget about it…
The whole point of PVP is skill (granted that in arenas of course you have class imbalances and OP comps, but you can still clearly tell a difference between 2 equally geared same class players, based on their skill). In vanilla you could be an absolute noob with 0 life and have rank14 gear and title and yet a Gladiator/R1 exp player would not be able to attain the same if they have a full time job/school/family etc.
The rank PVP system is the 1 main thing I absolutely dislike about Vanilla wow and hence wish for TBC servers, ONLY for the arena…for being able to hit gladiator/r1 without having to quit Life itself.

I would Love for Blizz to change the system to reflect skill rather than time played but I am 100% confident they won’t and frankly I am not quite sure how they can without adding things like RBGs which would just cause more rage in the community.

Yes this system encourages really bad behavior on all acounts seriously this needs a tweak somehow to make it better, we shouldn’t just settle for it because it was horrible then and it is horrible now.

Simple fix, remove honor decay and set honor requirements per rank. You’re welcome Blizz. You can send my check to the mailing address associated with my account.

This is a change I’m okay with. The system was broken back then, I’m sure many would agree on that. I’m all for things being challenging and “grindy”, but the pace you need to play at to obtain the rank is unreasonable for… well… almost anybody who doesn’t play the game all day. Essentially it’s promoting unhealthy lifestyle practices to obtain something in the game where it’s not possible without doing so, and people just end up account sharing to be able to keep up… which is breaking the TOS.

I’m sure Blizzard, with the help and input of the community, can come up with a challenging yet reasonable way to obtain rank 14.

Turns into two, then three, then four, etc… no, keep it as is.

That’s called the Slippery Slope fallacy, just fyi.

Then you don’t understand what it took to hit R14. People routinely broke ToS to “play” 16+ hours a day, every day, via account sharing. Since you were competing against these players, 6-14 hours wasn’t going to cut it.

Wow, I never thought I would say this but people actually want to make changes to Classic to make it even easier.

#nochange

And to parents of children who play WoW, parental controls exist in video game software for a reason.

Then too bad, so sad…? The system is the only thing for those types of people to do and you want to take it away from them…? Go back to retail, dude.

Go back to retail.

Then they don’t have to do them.

It’s a player choice. Nobody is forcing anyone to do it

You can say that about literally anything in the game, weak argument.

So does anything else that requires effort in the game…you sound like a retail baby.

Oh no, people have something to do when they’re bored? Say it isn’t so

After clearing raids which there’s only 2 of at the moment, there’s more or less nothing to do. Even when more raids are out it’ll be the same. This is the one thing people have to grind / work on when they’re bore. Why try and take that away…?

Considering you probably don’t have a max level character yet, I can see why you don’t understand why your whole point is flawed, though.

To get from from Marshal to Grand Marshal, I pretty much slept at the keyboard. I planned my final push during the summer when fewer players are typically online. No, I didn’t resort to diapers or a pee bottle. That’s where I drew the line. lol

Looking back, I wasn’t the most efficient honor grinder. There are things I would do differently. But I won’t be going for r14 in Classic. Older and wiser, hopefully.

no it doesn’t.

I just want to let each and every one of you know that i care very much about your health and mental well be… ** weekly honor updates ** OHH SWEET! I finally made Grand Marshall! haha later suckers!!!

go to retail maybe???

Did you even play vanilla WoW? This system was horrible, and is set to be much worse on classic.

Imagine that, except now it’s about 10x harder with the population difference. Seems doable without breaking ToS, right?
