The old pvp ranking system needs tweaks

TBH The Ranks were the worst part of Classic and the OG PVP system is much better

Sorry, but “It’s not fair I want my epics” isn’t a good enough reason to change vanilla. I want rank 13, but I may never get it or may not get it for a long time. That’s the way it is. That’s vanilla.

If people want to grind honor for 16 hours a day that’s up to them. It’s not anyone else’s responsibility; not Blizzard’s and not yours.

Botting without getting caught is going to be very difficult. Account sharing is also very difficult without getting caught. Believe it or not, in the last 12 years Blizzard has figured out a lot of new ways to detect stuff like this. These aren’t valid reasons for changing the honor system.

Nobody is asking for Rank 14 weapons to be freely available or any more common than what they were. It’s like you havent even bothered to read this discussion before barfing all over it.

Then what are you asking for? You weren’t specific in your OP. You just said the system should be changed.

If you’re not suggesting they change the system to make epic PvP gear more obtainable then you still won’t be able to get it if they change the system anyways. So what are you trying to say exactly?

Seems to me that’s exactly what you’re suggesting.

My opinion is a wait and see. I’ve heard the horror stories and it’s concerning, however maybe it won’t be as nightmarish this time around as we are seeing some things being easier than some remember. So, let’s just see what happens in phase 2 for now.

However, I would say that Blizzard should watch the grind carefully. Maybe take steps to prevent unhealthy habits. Like decay on how much honor gained from killing players if playing for a long time. Kinda how rested exp is or introduce a weekly soft cap based on current rank.

Another thing is threaten a ban and reset rank to 1 if a user is caught account sharing for the grind. That might alleviate that issue.

You should try and keep trying. The good thing about Classic is it is not going to go forward.
You have forever to get to max. Yes it can take you forever.
Blizzard would not have anything in game for the players that is unobtainable.
In a few years, players will have everything max or close to being max.
I was at level 22 when I maxed out honor with Ratchet.
I plan on the same with all race and fractions.
I have the time the game is going nowhere.

  1. Health and person’s life style at risk. Sounds like a personal problem.
The game it self can do that and not just pvp.
  2. Bots easy to solve report. Blizzard will perma ban players for that.
  3. Account sharing as if that has not happened. Do believe Blizzard is not a fan, go ahead and see what happens to your account when you tell Blizzard you shared and lost everything. You get your account back and not your stuff.
  4. Premades happen, any player caught cheating, well that is when Blizzard starts bannning.

Nothing in Classic will ruin any ones life.
You can always walk away from the game on any day.
You can always log on on any day Classic will still be there just like it was when you logged off.
That is what is nice about it being a stand alone game.

Sometimes you just gotta let Darwinism run its course

The only thing that will be interesting about the old rank system which was already impossible to get for anyone with a semblance of an existence outside of the game is the sheer volume of players on these new realms.

At the end of the day the biggest block to achieving rank 14 is not the opposing faction but instead your allies that are also competing to get as much CP as possible by pvping and gaining honor. Back in the day full server were 3-5k total so your faction had say 1.5-2.5k players and you would compete with whatever percentage of players that were pvping.

I feel with realms currently having 20-40k per faction that is an insane increase in potential competition not to mention the new paradigm of streamers that can get paid to no life the game 24/7. The end result is way more potential competition than ever before.

It probably will take way longer than 3 months playing 10-18 hour day to even have a chance at getting rank 14. It is kind of scary to think just what the playtime implications will be.

I am not OP but in my original post way up top, I clearly stated that I wanted it to stay hard enough to the point that I would never get it. As an old guild I used know would say, Reading is Fundamental.

Oh sorry. All you orcs look the same to me.

This is a good example of something in the game that is extremely flawed, but will still have people shouting #nochanges. It should be skill based not time based.

Regardless of how they do it I won’t be getting it because I don’t have the time or the skill.

Then why should you have any say in how they implement it?

Empathy? Realize that Blizzard knows that the grind is dangerous to people and will become legally liable if someone dies playing the game.

I don’t, but neither do you or anyone else on this forum.

I’d say people who are interested in the grind would have much more skin in the game and therefore should have more of a say on the matter.

Either way it’s going to remain as it was in vanilla. That’s what Classic is.

Ok, but they don’t.

You’re right. Nobody does. Because how the honor system will work is already defined and won’t change.

Exactly. Even if I disagree with it.

No, they won’t. You can’t blame a tool for what people use it for. And I’m sure Blizzard’s team of lawyers will put anyone who tries to sue them over something silly like this to shame.

really after say this epic stupidity, you try to others take you serious?
