No argument there.

Then yeah, I am all for it.

Problem is that this won’t be an option like Raid Finder was–right now there’s no Finder up. I guarantee you that without the Finder every PUG who knows the fights would demand ML turned on. Maybe allow it to be on for Guilds only just like how there’s credit for Guild Raids/Dungeons but that’s it. Never allow it to go into the hands of small non-guilded groups.

And no I haven’t been guilded with friends since we were all in High School as I know no adults who play this game. Literally I think maybe 2 other people play PC games in general–so no I don’t have friends when I game.

It’d be great to see the actual numbers of complaints vs total items distributed by ML.

If so many people hate ML, this would never happen. Not to mention anyone could start a group and run no ML. The raid is brand new, get on YouTube and you’ve got as much experience with it as half the groups in LFG

I said that from the beginning… However if it is guild only then allow it outside of raids as well, like Mythic+ content. If you have 5 people in a guild group make it an option, if you have 4 guildies and 1 rando, then no it is not an option.

That’s fine. As long as it doesn’t go public. I never want to ever deal with ML in my MMO life again. DKP and Loot Councils can suck it.

if not master loot at least let me trade the pieces i dont like even if they are slightly higher ilvl.

Yea that would be even better.

ML has never affected my game.
Ive read about it and its obvious blizzard removed it for one sole reason…to slow down progress…ie drag out game time required to gear up for guilds.
it should have never been removed.

Could someone summarize how master loot would work in a pug M+?

How would the algorithm know to keep off Master Loot?

I remember you can toggle between loot distribution settings back in the day, but I’m having difficulty understanding how having Master Loot in a pug M+ would never lead to someone ninjaing the gear and leaving? If it’s already been discussed in the thread, please quote.

That’s basically it… Ninja looting was just the excuse they needed.

Master loot never kept anyone from ninja looting everything if I remember correctly. At least the original master loot… I just remember master loot going away, need and greed was left behind and everyone just clicked need for everything whether they needed it or not. It was stupid…

Well if what people are saying here what they want is that you would never see PUGs have MLoot because it promotes greed amongst the people organizing. MLoot for guild groups/raids only. If you PUG a guild raid I’m sure they would explain something to you–but again that’s why I oppose it because handing power back into select players hands always leads to abuse.

Bring back master looter. You might as well say, Bring back ninja looters. This is all i remember with master looter and need before greed and free for all loot in place. You had to be very careful with the guilds and groups you joined that had master loot or need before greed or free for all loot on. If you were not careful, you would undoubtedly get loot ninjad from you. Not always, but a bunch of untrustworthy jerk bag eggs ruins features like this from ever coming back.

Heck you could be in progression for a decent guild back in the day, or in classic wow currently, and a guild that seems trustworthy, all of a sudden goes rogue ninja loot on you, and you been raiding with them for quite some time. This deletes these player types from wow, and you at least get loot that is rightfully yours.

Problem for me is that you don’t always get drops at times and you can’t trade in some cases to help out progression for other guild mates or party members, but i still think it is better than having that 1 percent chance that a guild or group of people will steal loot from you.

Your own personal experience doesn’t invalidate the experiences of others. Neither do their experiences invalidate yours.

The truth is that the cons outweighed the pros.

The amount of GMs that will admit they ninja looted and/or funneled gear away from players who needed it into other people’s alts… Is a tiny tiny tiny minority of GMs.

The amount of GMs that DID actually ninja loot and funnel gear away from those who needed it is extremely high.

We’re not game developers lol. We’re not entitled to see what Blizzard does behind the scenes.

They do nothing but collect data constantly and respond to it. It may not seem like it but they do that. Just check their hiring pages sometimes.

The reality that’s hard to grasp because it goes against your personal experience is that Blizzard announced it was going away due to the data they collected on player feedback for the abuse and toxicity it created in the game.

Player satisfaction plummeted due to it.

You can’t trust a tiny fraction of the playerbase to be the arbiters of loot distribution. It sounds horrible on paper and it’s horrible in practice. Just look at Classic. The amount of Ninja Looters, the amount of players that deserve gear but are passed up by the GM’s alt for Raid Team 2 etc. The amount of people who run casual guilds so they can sell Thunderfury runs for real world money.

ah yes, bring back master loot so that gm’s can just have loot council and gear up their friends. No thanks if you want master loot go back to classic.

This seems to be the running theme with people not wanting master loot… You know what perpetuates this? Joining any random guild that throws you an invite! The guild advancement/perk system of Cata did more harm than good IMHO. The number of guilds exploded and with that came the leveling guilds and other guilds that just wanted to pad their guild bank… Others may disagree and thats fine, but overall master loot was not the problem.

This would be a windfall to run sellers. They’re trying to demonetize paid runs for loot, which is why they’re adding all these other gated mechanisms to generate loot. I would have thought the player base was astute enough to have realized that by now.

I honestly don’t think Blizz cares as long as its for gold and not real money… The vault is a guaranteed piece of loot, people will pay for multiple runs now instead of just one, for multiple chances. If they are trying to curb loot selling they are doing a bad job of it… Most loot sellers even add insurance now for their runs…

Bringing back Master Loot is apples and oranges to loot sellers…
