What with the new Netflix documentary that just came out, and Blizzard really pushing it on social media, you’d think that would make them re-consider actually doing something for guilds. I know it’s not the documentary’s focus, but it does mention regularly the impact of this young man on the guild and it’s members, amongst others.
Exactly this. And it’s not just Ibelin and his friends. Lots of guilds help build relationships between players. They aren’t just about doing content. Guilds are the glue that keep players in the game even when there are content droughts. Blizz should know this.
Coming back in to say: I still want these changes implemented! Helllooooo is anybody out there hellooooo
They are hiding from us.
I STILL can’t let go of the fact that they promised “guild updates” with this expansion and didn’t deliver. They shouldn’t have used a broad term like “updates” if all they were going to do is make guilds cross faction. But I guess I should know better than to expect them to communicate accurately.
Perhaps the guild updates was the random emptying of guild vaults …
“We’ve updated 15-20 year old guilds to now have less clutter in their bank and no compensation”
The thing is, this happened to my guild back in Battle for Azeroth. They never fixed it, and now a bunch of other guilds have had this happen. Kind of makes you wonder about their ability to fix anything, including the permissions. I mean, maybe the problem with them not fixing the permissions is they don’t want to admit they’re incapable of fixing them, not that they don’t want to fix them.
The reason I don’t want to log out of the forums to fix the bug that won’t let me change avatars is that I keep experiencing another bug when I try to log back in. This is a constant loop of it wanting my password, then my authenticator, password, etc. It never lets me log back into Blizzard. This is a known issue that has been around a while.
I got around it the last time because I was still logged into the launcher and thus was able to go to the forums from there. But I’m worried one time I’ll log out of B-net and not be able to log back in, and thus not be able to play the game.
What has this got to do with permissions? Just an example of other broken things that don’t seem to be getting any attention. Misery loves company.
Hello everyone! In today’s news, most of the guild permissions are still lumped together under the “is officer” heading. While this isn’t a game-breaking issue, it is definitely a quality of life issue, especially for anyone managing a guild.
If I want to give a member the ability to change the message of the day, why should I have to also give them the rest of the officer abilities? Guild leaders should be able to parcel out the permissions and responsibilities as they see fit. Even Blizz admitted the change was unintentional. Can we now have an intentional change back to the way things were?
I’d settle for an unintentional change back … as long as they kept it that way
I feel like if that happened, we would see the fastest “fix” in WoW history turning things back to the all-in-one permissions.
No, wait. That would mean they were actually paying some kind of attention to guilds, and we know that’s not the case. So, if there were some kind of accidental change back to granular permissions–woo!hoo! We finally get what we’re asking for!
Hello, how’re y’all doing?
Yeah, if you’re guild leader, probably not as good as you’d like. We’ve been asking for this change so long, they closed our original thread. Well, actually, that thread had been closed previously because they had a lower post limit back-in-the-day. But the one Blizzard employee who actually paid any attention to it, opened it up. Of course, he got fired later. (Not because of opening the thread, I’m pretty sure.) We miss you, Ythisens.
Anyway, it sure would be nice to get a permission fix before the next anniversary rolls around.
It sure was lucky that accidental change neatly aligned community and guild permissions into the same tiers.
Fix the permissions, Blizz. Either that, or come right out and tell us it’s not going to happen. Ion said a fix was in the works five years ago (or was it six?). The best chance you had of slipping one in was when you did your “guild updates” for TWW. Let’s not wait for yet another expansion.
So, who here thinks tomorrow’s stream might have something in it about guilds?
Yeah, me neither. But… it’s fun to imagine it could happen. Like buying a lottery ticket and you pretend what you’ll do with all that money. Then they draw the numbers and you didn’t match any.
Am I going to watch the stream live? Probably not. It’s at a bad time for me. But I’ll catch at least 20 minutes sometime to get those mounts. (I’m linked on Twitch already, so that’s where I’m watching.)
Even if it did have something about guilds, it would be something vague - just to keep us on the hook - and then nothing would come of it.
I’m starting to think that Blizzard have a pavlovian response as soon as the word “guild” is mentioned - like sticking their heads in the sand.
Turns out you had to watch it live to count for the mounts. Otherwise you watch any WoW streamer with rewards enabled. They did NOT make that clear in their announcement.
Anyway, I watched a streamer for the mounts but I haven’t watched whatever Blizz put up because I haven’t had time. I assume there were no announced changes for guilds since I haven’t seen anyone saying so. I’ve heard more than enough about player housing. Whoopee. (Actually, that’s great for players who wanted it, but what about instanced guild halls that people suggested in the original thread?)
There was an interview later on with Ion Hazzikostas where he said it was early days for Player Housing and that they were looking for feedback on what players wanted (and didn’t want) from it - https://www.wowhead.com/news/taliesin-and-evitel-undermine-d-interview-player-housing-d-r-i-v-e-goblin-350719
I’d suggest that if we keep mentioning guild housing/guild halls, eventually they might notice and perhaps consider including that.
The only issue is that it’s relating to guilds and Blizzard have clearly demonstrated that they don’t have a lot of time (any? ) for guild related issues - guilds are only really mentioned as an aside and even then often forgotten about afterwards. I think we just have to keep banging that drum and DARING Blizzard to break out of that view we have of them, and do something (positive for us) about it.
The fact that they’re planning player housing proves they could have done guild halls. Of course, we knew that it was possible ever since Garrisons.
Any love shown to guilds would be awesome, but what I still really want is granular permissions like we used to have. I don’t know why launching communities messed up guilds, but they really should have fixed this ages ago.
