I read someone else’s post about the growth of monk as a class compared to other classes over the course of WoW…
I think one MAJOR area of growth for monk is the Celestials.
We can clearly see the monk community would really enjoy celestial customization with their abilities
Moreover, I feel that Celestials should broaden their role.
Instead of having 1 celestial = 1 role, it would be cool to see the Celestials diversify their roles and have more involvement in the class tree as well as in each of the spec trees
As a monk, I feel a bond to the celestial because of its ability to empower us and our allies — and that’s something that defines monk — would love to see more of that
We can see the class statue capstones as a first iteration on a choose-your-celestial design but it needs iteration to make each one viable which currently they’re not
MW is fine with 2 celestials to choose from. I also believe MW should be the only acceptable version of chibi deity Monk. You wanna heal along some cute Hunter pets? Cool. Windwalker? I want to become the deity, not summon it. To become their Avatar; a Conduit to the Divine.
And I actually believe there is a path for both desires to coexist; I even say as much here with my Celestial talents.
I agree we should see a little more crossover skill if adding Green Flames is the future, such as adding GotOx orbs for WW and MW and Life Cocoon to the class tree. But there’s a ton more than changing Capstones that needs to happen to the general tree, let alone spec trees. 3 talents devoted to making RSK worthwhile, 3 talents to making Expel Harm worthwhile, sidetracking Fort Brew, tollgating Roll x2 behind SooM for non-channel builds, disconnected Windwalking from Resonant Fists and undertuned aura… a lot more than just capstones…
Dear God no green flames, I’m so sick of green fire. Just add some red fire to some of our jade spells. Like the hero talents could turn CJL into crackling jadefire lightning: CJL could be infused to do splash aoe damage around the primary target dealing fire damage to nearby hostiles. Or something like that.
It would be cool to have Xuen for damage and also a very popular idea amongst MW is the addition of a raid wide stagger effect — this naturally aligns with summoning Niuzao instead of Yuulon/Chiji since Niuzao increases the Brewmaster’s stagger
Xuen is so weak right now he feels like the chibi pet. Xuen and empowered tiger lightning is a very small portion of WW damage right now. I’ve stated in numerous places that fistweaver feels more like a melee BA than windwalker. Like when you pop chi ji you become his avatar it’s incredible.
Makes no sense why I said Celestials need a larger presence in the talent trees and then you disagree but then have recomenddd your own celestial talents to add to the tree… proving that yes we should have more celestial presence in the trees lol
I didn’t disagree. Only clarified that it shouldn’t be necessary to be a BrM or WW summoner. I agree it would be cool to see more celestial effects, but I absolutely don’t want to go back to tiger summons being 30% of my kit! The types of Celestial effects that exist independently of summoning, such as DoCJ or GotOx, are good types of celestial effects for BrM and WW. I don’t explain that in the linked post (which includes a class-wide stagger), but it’s predecessor outlines my class philosophy hinges on 3 themes; Celestial Blessings, Martial Arts, and Chi Magic.
The demo provided a single point optional skeleton for summoning and exclusively limits it to off-role performance for non-MW. It even calls for WW to get the chance to summon CJ alongside Xuen, like we saw in Torghast… It’s consistent with your request and with what I wrote.
If anything make it Yu’lon or Chi-Ji themed for Mistweaver (maybe via glyphs) and Blue (Xuen Themed) for Windwalker (also can be via glyph). Overall I would prefer it Xuen themed since it’s the least represented celestial out of the monk kit. Blue is also easier to see, at least in this current tier. We don’t need a green ground effect that will get eaten up by half the bosses in the raid and any outdoor content that has grass/green floor.
