The new assassin's creed trailer is a good representation of alliance and horde

Well yeah cause how would they know if they are playing nice vikings

its almost like thats the problem

Because people generally don’t get their historical information from video games (read: works of fiction).

Juding but these forums your wrong since people seem to feel really upset about the genocide the horde commited, if its just a game why all the ranting about blizzard huh? Its just a game bro it doesnt matter just move on and keep playing

Because they are invested in the (fictional) universe?

its undeniable canon that the horde commited war crimes too

WoW is a fictional game, yet we have countless posters on here that act like everything the Horde does impacts them so much almost to the point where I feel it hurts them irl (like the horde is a real life entity, not a now poorly written conglomeration of fantasy races), no need to stress over a game that should have little to no real impact on your life .

It’s going to be alright I promise :hugs::kissing_heart:

Aren’t they (Vikings in the trailer) putting down roots in someone else’s land? Burning their homes? Impoverishing and leaving homeless who knows how many people?

I mean with some background they could still be sympathetic, maybe a people forced to take drastic action to protect the people they love and find a new place to live but they sure don’t seem like the good guys.

Yes.

(But so were the saxons.)

Y’know I probably should have thought of that. It was a couple generations ago but that doesn’t mean they didn’t.

As someone of Irish, Scottish, and Welsh stock, I have to agree that both parties were pretty terrible.

Same.

not that I’m not American.

The Alliance is an Alliance, I don’t think I saw any night elves helping to attack Sylvanas. Moreover, as has been said ad nauseum, the attack was orchestrated by actions from the dreadlord. Genn wanted revenge for the Horde’s perceived betrayal at the Broken Shore, which only happened because the fake Shaw gave false intel.

Sylvanas learned this after, same as Anduin, because both have members of the Uncrowned in their circle. Her mentioning Stormheim wasn’t done in good faith, because mere months later you had Liadrin leading the Blood Elves alongside the Night Elves to liberate Suramar. The Horde, unlike the Alliance, isn’t a collective of equals, and all members are under the Warchief. Liadrin would have needed to get Sylvanas’ okay to lead Blood Elf forces into battle like that, especially since she was part of a neutral order at the time. Ergo, Sylvanas really didn’t seem to think Stormheim was that big a deal at all.

Also, attacking an armed military fleet is a little different than carving a path through Ashenvale so quickly and ruthlessly that a river of night elf souls fly to Darkshore after being killed. And we do see Horde mistreating prisoners… in the scenario to get Tyrande her special eyes, as posted above.

Also can we stop with this ‘hurr durr Alliance posters/Horde posters’ generalization? It’s cringey pseudo-RP, I’ve played both stories and have had a max level on each faction since WoD, and have completed the war campaigns for both Horde and Alliance.

Why should he repent when it was proven Sylvanas was actually trying to do something evil? Namely, trying to capture a Val’kyr.

And Sylvanas was pursuing her plan that was ultimately designed to hurt the Alliance. In Before the Storm her ultimate goal was always Stormwind.

Sounds fun, then neither should the Alliance be accountable, and considering Genn ultimately screwed over Sylvanas in Legion as oppose to the Horde in general than neither should you truly have any qualms about what he did!

You mean this quest?

“I will not slay innocents. If they do not raise arms against us, we shall spare them. Enter Lor’danel and capture any civilians you find there. They shall be questioned and then released.”

That is not saving! Your a still capturing them for information and maybe end up releasing them but we actually don’t know if Saurfang kept his word or not especially considering it became a full blown genocide by the end of the Questline.

They’re specifically on the ship as elites that you salute.
More importantly, the worgen live on Teldrassil, not in Stormwind.

I’ve never played a rogue past level 30, so I’ll take your word for it. I don’t remember Genn being given any information on the topic. Maybe rogue’s class story says different.

I’m not certain any of this tracks. No one has required the Warchief’s blessing to act with their own kingdsom (not that Liadrin was queen) in regards to doing things unrelated to what the Warchief is attending.

Sylvanas (wisely) didn’t act on Genn’s betrayal until after the Legion was defeated. This was smart for two reasons:

1: It ensured the likelihood of the Legion’s defeat.
2: Sylvanas looks magnanimous for not acting until after the war ends because she displays self restraint. It casts the Alliance as fully in the wrong. This makes levelheaded Horde such as Saurfang more likely to believe her arguments.

Those wisps could be all from Astranaar. Or, they could be whipped into a frenzy from Ashenvale over. Wisps always exist in Ashenvale. They’re the very first thing orcs ever see of the night elves in Warcraft 3.

I missed this??

But the horde stood with her. They lit those catapults, enchanted the payloads, and helped spread the flame. Sylvanas made the order but she didn’t act alone, just like Garrosh.

In didn’t even know about this. I knew that there was a fake Shaw but not that Stormheim resulted from that.

Some did. Certainly, absolutely, objectively, and canonically not all.

It shouldn’t have happened to begin with. Mostly because it was a stupid plot arc and Blizzard should be ashamed of it.

Secondly because if they had kept Saurfang true to his character, he would have challenged Sylvanas to Mak’gora the moment she gave the order, just like he threatened to do at Garrosh. He would have stood a better chance without all those souls in the Maw giving her a death magic upgrade. Even if he did lose, he could have forced her to confess her honest feelings about the Horde which would have made people unwilling to follow her orders.

Instead, they turned him into Sadfang.

Disgraceful.
