The most crude and easy fix to mythic+

While I got a job as a “member of technical staff” at a company similar to IBM, my friends were still either spending an extra year in college or working in service. I kept them however, because going out to drinks or getting food with your friends, or getting in a call and playing a game with them after work isn’t squandering my potential.

If I were to fix things I’d actually lower the timer, dump the Challlenger’s greifer… er peril, and add a mod that killing trash adds bonus time to the timer.

Rather than find cute ways to skip trash, people would just try to be efficient.

…you realize that skipping trash you dont need IS being efficient…right?

Tell me you realize that is the definition of efficient.

you literally get the loot AND the vault loot. right now.

in raids when you fail you get the repair bill.

…So, simple scenario.

School friends are asking you to come out. You happen to have something work-related you have to do. Or maybe wife/husband related, that can work too.

Are you going to choose the friends over a productive and important endeavor? And are you going to make this choice over and over again?

You know what I’m trying to suggest, right lol.

It downgrades to veteran if you take long enough, and since it’s mythic plus, you get less actual loot than if you just did m0

Depends how busy it is at work. If there’s a lull, i’ll probably just ask for a mental health day off and go have fun with my friends then come back and work twice as hard the next day. If its busy at wory, “sorry m8 works super rough right now, another time or maybe the weekend” “ah ok ok cool cool another time for sure man” “yah yah for sure”

And does that not impact the attitude of your superiors to you lol. Because at my school, I’m expressly told by a “senpai”(lady’s my mom’s age and about to retire) so to say that the admins absolutely keep a mental list of people who take sick days more often.

At my job, you’re given 10 days a year to take a day off for any reason, but may be declined at your managers discretion. They never do decline, unless they need all the help they can get (around major holidays generally when people will be taking a ton of time off anyway for family). I just say “mental health” and they’re like “yeah sure, see you tomorrow.”

Pretty much nobody is in a union because there’s no reason to be in one, because they treat us way too well. Turnover is staggering low, there’s people there that have been there for over 20 years. Schools are definitely behind when it comes to worker/employer relations.

I want the mechanical execution and output demands in line with comparable content pillars.

There is no way in hell a t8 delve or heroic raid boss, both of which drops hero track items, are harder than a fortified 3 pack trash pull in a +7 (the bare minimum dungeon level that also drops hero track gear) and you need to be doing multiple pack pulls to even have a reasonable chance to time most keys.

The only time I’m even remotely challenged on a mechanical level in a delve is if I get ballsy and decide to pull multiple packs at once…and even then it’s only semi dicey if there are casters there because, for whatever crazy reason, casters all have the ability to delete your health bar and thanks to the CC changes, you have to actually interrupt them or they just free cast your face off.

There is minimal margin for error too at the 7+ level when it comes to timing the key too. 1 singular wipe almost surely bricks a key…and god forbid a tyrannical boss wipe with cooldowns used.

Plus if you brick your key you get downgraded. If you quit the key it downgrades. Unlike bountiful delves which can be freely reset and of course raids where failing just means you try again.

It isn’t even like the end of dungeon drops end up being all that attractive past the first few weeks in the season anyway. It’s just down to a crest grind and your 1 piece from the vault…and even now crests are quite limited

As someone whose now been doing the t11 delves for the achievements, I can say even t11 delves are far more brutal and likely deserve an increase in both the end of delve and vault drop (as well as giving gilded crests if winning with lives remaining).

Basically the rewards are so out of line for the difficulty and execution and output demands and keys especially get the mega short end of the stick. It also isn’t a problem if every Johnny McBadual ends up in mythic track gear either. Johnny McBadual is still going to lack the IO “needed” to get picked to play with Timmy LeTryhard in their +30’s and he’s still not going to have the raid experience to try and take Timmy LeTryhard’s place in his mythic raid group…and who cares if Johnny McBadual just uses the gear to go murder mobs harder guarding mineral nodes or flowers?

The only person hurt by Johnny McBadual getting awesome gear is the Timmy LeTryhards whose only sense of satisfaction and purpose in this game is lording their item level and knowing they have power levels the Johnny McBaduals only dream of and I would argue those types are the worst specimans of players in this game and absolutely in no way should they be appeased or catered to by Blizzard in the first place.

And fixing keys literally takes 1 simple thing…combine fortified and tyrannical and put them as a +15 and beyond combo wombo affix. Purely prestige challenge mode levels. In their place, put a movement affix at 4 and a mechanics/damage affix at 10. Movement affixes are things like entangled and sanguine whereas mechanics/damage affixes are bursting or bolstering.

Another thing I’d consider changing when it came to trash and especially bosses is not having them reset to full on a wipe. Instead, all enemies regain HP when out of combat. It should be enough to let them regain a solid percentage of their total health but not back to full (assuming you wiped when they were quite low) if you manage to run back and pull quickly. This largely is served at dealing with the travesty that is wiping on a tyrannical boss.

For what dungeon?

If this is the goal we can cut all HP by 50% c:

Again, you sure they don’t have any stigmas against people who cash all 10 of their days every year? Zero impact on promotions and raises and evaluations? But maybe being evaluated at your job is also just a teacher thing lol, I wouldn’t know.

Certainly, but the rewards should also be decreased since you’re making them easier.

10 days a year? That’s less than one a month. People request multiple weeks off of PTO for vacations with their family during the summer. That isn’t factored into the 10. Keep in mind we don’t get summers off.

Eh, teachers getting summers off isn’t supposed to be offset by more cringe admins for us or more vacation days for every other profession lol. It’s offset by us making less money. Essentially, we only earn 9 months of salaries per year, they just send us 24 paychecks. That’s why “teacher pay” is a meme, because we’re able and supposed to do something on the side over the summers.

efficient

[ ih-fish-uhnt ]

Phonetic (Standard)IPA

adjective

  1. performing or functioning in the best possible manner with the least waste of time and effort; having and using requisite knowledge, skill, and industry:

When sometimes pull maps look like the conspiracy theory meme… nah, that’s not efficient. Worse, when it goes wrong and bricks the key, that isn’t efficiency. You’ve confused “precarious” high risk/reward with “efficient.”

Why does M+ need a timer at all, aside from a fun gimmick for competition among the top 0.01% of those who run it?

I’m a healer, so I never have issues getting keys. But I think a lot of the anxiety people have with M+ is the fear of bricking a key (your or others’), and a lot of the toxic behavior comes from the frustration of knowing that if you do get your key bricked, now you’ve got to build it back up, potentially starting from a level that offers you no rewards. Again, for me this isn’t a problem, but given how hard it is for many DPS to get into key groups, or even to start their own key groups, I can understand their frustration at losing progress on their own key, especially if they’re living the PUG life.

If my raid group wipes on a Heroic raid boss, we don’t have to go back to Normal and beat the boss there before we can try on Heroic again. That would be asinine. It is equally as asinine in dungeons.

Keys should not deplete from an untimed completion, only from manually choosing to deplete them if you feel you’ve hit a level beyond what you want to play at.

You know what, i’ll agree with you on that. Failing a key having a regressive downside at all feels like a holdover from the first iteration in legion where they would literally brick. Get a key, and freely change its level up to the highest you’ve “upgraded to” that season.
Wanna run straight 11s back to back? go for it

So effectively removing the timer… You already have that in every other dungeon difficulty.

“when someone pulls a map in a way that has the least waste of time and effort, in such a way that requires skill and knowledge, that isnt efficient”
