The kelfin love/allied race discussion thread ✿

I’m hoping we return to Azeroth as well for the next expansion. Much as I don’t care for the setting of Shadowlands, I still like the game in general. As I’ve said, change the afterlife setting and keep the systems and stuff, and I’d enjoy it more. I grumble about it, but that does come from caring about the game and just wanting to see something more grounded in the living world and less cosmic for the setting.

I’m also hoping that Blizzard does take into account our support for races we want playable for the future as well. Something I keep saying is that there is plenty of room on that character creation screen for several races people have been requesting for a long time, and I hope we see people’s wishes come true. We may not see a bunch of them in one expansion like with BfA (although that would be cool), we could hopefully see them gradually added as time goes on.

And for Kelfin, Queen Azshara is still out there somewhere, scheming and likely to be a pain in our rears when we least expect it. It would be in the Horde’s best interests to recruit some aquatic begins into their ranks to be able to help combat that. I mean, several of the Unshackled are right at the shores of Durotar, just waiting for an invitation to the Horde. Underwater defense, underwater salvage, underwater rescues, and much more can come with getting them as official members of the Horde.

Give them a true home in the Horde and a place on the Horde Council, and they would be very valuable allies! :japanese_goblin::trident:

I’ve gotten rank 30 on all Kelfin followers and earned the achievement for it! I’m slowly working on the Undersea Usurper achievement for fun while we have some downtime between patches.

Something I have noticed is that the Unshackled seem to be more more warmer and interested in the Horde as opposed to the Ankoan and the Alliance. They seem genuinely interested in the Horde. Enough that they do visit the shores of Durotar at the end. Not to mention that they seem to be more friendly and open in general when you interact with them compared to the Ankoan.

Makes me wish that we didn’t just leave the Unshackled without a word in BfA. No checking in on them afterwards, making sure they’d be ok, or talking some with Neri after the fact. I feel like they deserve better than to just be forgotten.

Of course, an official invitation to join the Horde would fix all of that. Still hope the Horde Council gets around to doing that after we’re done in Shadowlands! :japanese_goblin::trident:

They have very character development in my opinion. It makes it all the more sad they aren’t playable because this character development explains why they would want a long term standing with the horde.

I really need to get back on that… The crab mount would be nice.

I noticed this too and its probably why I’m not that hot on Ankoan, while I am interested in Kelfin and Jinyu.

Ankoan seem to be of the mindset that we’re a necessary evil almost like they don’t want us there but they need the allies and the Kelfin already took the Horde guys so I guess the Alliance is it.

Kelfin meanwhile appear very interested in the Horde and friendly to the players.

And back in Pandaria the Jinyu also had a much more interested bent in their interactions with the Alliance.

They really do, and excepting the Mechagnomes joining the Alliance we actually barely circle back to that entire patch at all. It could almost have not existed and still lead to the same end in the next patch…

Them and many others…

It really feels like they were prepared for that in my opinion.

I haven’t responded in a while as my frame of mind had changed on allied races and I was beginning to think threads like these were a complete waste of time and was even ready to request a moderator lock this thread because I felt this thread may be getting to spammy and was just pointless worrying at this point. That was until I saw this:

Mirasol says that allied races are planned years in advance which tells me 2 things.

  1. There was nothing anyone could have every done within bfa to sway the potential allied races.

  2. Allied race requests are listened to, but they likely won’t act on them for a long time since it requires a lot of pre-emptive work. So this does mean that there is in fact merit to making such requests in that they may become a thing one day.

It is worth noting that mirasol doesn’t work at blizzard, but she claims to have spoken with devs in person and is one of the most highly regarded and notable MVPs.

Still waiting for Kelfin blizzard!

May take a break for a bit since I think mostly everything that needed to be said has been said many times over so I am not sure if repeating it will make much a difference. I think the goal of making it known that this is a desired race has been accomplished.

Sure thing.

I agree that we’ve more that proved that this race is desired.

I’ll keep bumping it once in awhile probably anyways.

And they are hanging out on the shores of durotar. I can’t see for sure if their presence there is 100% cannon as of present, but its still nice and helpful towards future interactions.

I’m not a fan of Kelfin and would’ve personally been upset to get them instead of any other race we got. But I believe every player should be able to play the race they want even if the majority of players would never play it like myself.

:+1: Playable Kelfins for Kelfin fans.

This I can respect. I’ve long been heavily in favor of the idea that even if something is niche that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t happen.

100% support this.

I liked the Gilgoblins in BfA and they fit with the Horde.

I believe it is.

Things like the tournament grounds still being held and apparently holding more tournaments (give what we saw there in pre-patch) suggests to me that until Blizzard says otherwise, a thing is canon until its not.

An admirable position to take on such things.

One I’ve been trying to follow myself.

Thank you.

Wouldn’t they though?

Tough and rough survivors fighting against a “civilized” stronger force? Horde all around.

It’s not easy, at least for me. I actually quit WoW for 6 or 7 years because we got Pandaran instead of Ogres, lol. I was also burnt out but that was just the icing on the cake and helped push me away.

I want Mok’nathal and ogres but have run into stiff opposition to Mok’nathal. Ogres just get the “I don’t want to play an ugly, dumb, fat race” type of response. I also wouldn’t mind San’layn even though I am not an elf fan and think that any reskin is too many of that race.

Instead of reskins we could’ve had unique races like Ogres, Sethrak, Saurok, etc. and just have those reskins be a customization option. Will never understand Blizz and some decisions.

Not going to get my hopes up too much, but the things that mirasol said has helped me feel a bit better.

I’ve said it may times before and I feel like a broken record, but they make good sense.

Just curious. Are you sure this happened? Were ogres really planned instead of pandaren? I thought goblins came in place of ogres in cata?

I also wouldn’t mind San’layn even though I am not an elf fan and think that any reskin is too many of that race.

I think we have too many elves, but the thing about allied races is that they were setup as variants of existing races. Ion even said once that allied races were supposed to be a sort of extended customization for core races. In this regards I think we should have gotten gilgoblins 8.3. Plus in terms of reskins they wouldn’t even be that bad. More unique then most allied races. And they have a lot of established lore already.

They weren’t planned as far as I know and I was upset we got Goblins instead of Ogres but goblins and Ogres are part of the core Horde so I let it slide.

I was upset about Pandarens because Ogres should’ve come first. Ogres are a core horde race and we still do not have them. It is still a sore spot for me that Blizz refuses to add them.

I remember he said something along that line but it’s a waste imo to make race customizations into a new race. And I agree that if that is how they went about the AR’s then we should’ve gotten Gilgoblins/Kelfins but instead of Vulpera imo.

I wanted Sethrak instead of Vulpera and wanted the Alliance, which I don’t play, to have Vulpera. Wasn’t too happy we got them. :frowning: It’s all just my personal opinion.

I getcha. One thing to note is that for gilgoblin it would likely be problematic if they made gilgoblins into a customization. It would be kinda like if they made eredar a customizaion for draenei. Gilgoblins would likely be able to be druids, they wouldn’t have a water breathing racials if a customization for goblins its why even if I had the option to have them as a custom option I’d rather not. Plus another problem is that gilgoblins do have some unique geometry like fins, differently shaped feet, canonically they have glow on the dark eyes, differently shaped noses and differently shaped feet. Same with the ears. If given the choice between having them as customization or not at all I would choose not at all for these reasons.

SOLD! Sign me up.

Even though I didn’t want Vulpera I would’ve made them my main druid if they could’ve, should’ve, been druids. I was rather upset they couldn’t be druids. Another strike against Blizz. :heavy_check_mark:

I just quit because of the Pandaren. lol

I can very much understand that.

(I love my Pandaren now mind)

Both of these I support wholly.

I tend to want all races to be treated as races separate from one another.

I’ll never forgive Blizzard for taking the best of the Dwarven clans and reducing them to mere customization.

I don’t want to play a bronzebeard dwarf cosplaying a Wildhammer. I want to play Wildhammer.

Without the racials, heritage, and such things they just feel cheap and bad.

Due to their connection with Graal, which is a sea loa, its very possible they could be druids since they are confirmed to be worshippors of Graal and Graal is still known to be alive and working with them. In my thread I have images and several ideas for druid forms. Although a common criticism is that they are too hybrid like.

The waveblade also have this connection.
