Fair enough. A bunch of those probably wouldn’t be used anyway if they were ever added as an allied race. Part of the reason some of those look really out there was since I was making most of them for a fan project that rather detached from lore. Some of them can work though. On the base model I tried to keep it rather faithful to the existing in game design. Tentacle hair like void elves, bioluminescence, the aquatic looking hair, glow in the dark ears, the different fin shapes. That could all work. I also think the seadragon model could be significantly improved from what it is now.
Aye, though they could also do something like the Vulpera mount. It’s just got unique armor. (and a canopy… And the ability to remove it if you are a vulpera…)
Still on my list of to do things. Making a custom racial mount. Probably a snapdragon with some kind of carriage on it.
I still think that a snap dragon without any of the armor on, aside from a harness to ride on, would work well for a starting Kelfin racial mount. Would also give some prestige still to the ones you can currently get in-game with the armor on also.
Indeed.
It’s unlikely that Gilgoblins would be mermaids. The likelihood of them having far more abundance in thier customization though is worth a look.
The mermaid thing is also just supposed to be as a swim druid form. Assuming they could be druids which seems likely they would be.

While doing some achievement work in Nazjatar, I remembered that Neri rides a snapdragon mount. I summoned a ground mount and took a screenshot as best as I could:
As you can see, there is an unarmored snapdragon mount model in the game that could easily be used as a Kelfin racial mount. Then you could leave the armored snapdagon mounts as a prestige thing from doing stuff in Nazjatar.
Just something I wanted to share.

I like the armored ones personally since I love the sort of shell armor they have. Very fitting for an aquatic race.

I’d still expect a specially designed snapdragon with a saddle and maybe armor themed around matching Kelfin heritage armor.

I agree. At the very least, a saddle of some sort would be better than just nothing over it so it doesn’t look too lacking.
I also was wondering what a Kelfin Hunter starting pet could be. Maybe a snap dragon also? A manta ray? A crab different from Goblin Hunter starting pets? Or possibly an aquatic animal in a water bubble, in which aquatic pet training is something I’ve mentioned as an idea before.
Seems like there are a few candidates there!

I kinda assumed either a Snapdragon or on of the eels around there.
A different crab would work but I think thats too… easy?
A ray from the zone would work out too.

A manta ray of some kind would also work.

Yeah I think the best option would be for them to have a Snapdragon mount with a kelfin themed saddle, and the hunters to have a Manta ray pet.
They’re adorable pets.

While doing stuff in Nazjatar, I noticed Poen had a different colored mount than Neri:
I have to say, I really like this particular color scheme for snap dragon mounts. Seems really fitting for some of the Kelfin skin colors. I wouldn’t mind having this color as an option for a snap dragon mount.

I just don’t want to see another crappy reskin of an already unpopular race. Better to get full new race like Ogre.
Gilgoblins are more actually much more original than most allied races.
- We don’t have an aquatic race yet. When it comes to ogres though we already have a number of races like ogres. Most notably orcs.
- They can make good use of tentacle hair, bioluminescence and stuff like that to make this race quite interesting.
- Culturally and thematically they are the core opposite of land goblins.
- This race could more than likely be druids. Something which would never work on land goblins.
Futhermore they already have pretty much all the lore setup to be playable and besides. We could always have both and then add Sea Giants as an AR to Ogres.
While doing stuff in Nazjatar, I noticed Poen had a different colored mount than Neri:
Each of their mounts have a unique skin color I believe.

Why not both?
Horde needs all of its missing races.
Ogres, Revantusk, Taunka, Forest Hozen and Kelfin.
They’re all already allied to the Horde.

We really should have had them playable already at this point to be honest. I think they would have been the most proper fit for goblin AR.

Plus that way some members of the Alliance wouldn’t feel as though they were second thoughts.
That said I am happy the Vulpera exist and are playable.
I just think blizzard needs to add the rest of the races around.

Thought I would finish the set and post Vim’s mount:
I think that Poen’s mount is my favorite in terms of color schemes.
I also did manage to get this item:
Oddly enough, when it turns me into a female model, I can’t ride mounts as one. I haven’t tried the male models in it to see if it does the same, but Glyph of Disguise models of male Gilblins let me mount. It’s especially odd since there are female Kelfin models that have the ability to ride mounts.
At the very least, it lets me show off how female Kelfin would possibly look in other areas like Orgrimmar.

It doesn’t quite compare to the real thing, but it is fun.

I finally got a snapdragon mount! I went ahead and took a few Kelfin screenshots to sort of showcase what it could look like if Kelfin became an allied race and you created a new Kelfin character.
The Kelfin Newbie:
A Kelfin arrived in Durotar. Climbing from the ocean, he knows to get to Orgrimmar is to find the docks and go straight ahead with the mountains on his right.
The Kelfin heads to Orgrimmar, ready to start his grand adventure on land!
The Kelfin arrives at Orgrimmar’s imposing gates. Fortune lies within!
The Kelfin looks around the area, trying to figure out how to get to the embassy.
The Kelfin asks a few nearby members of the Horde where to go. They help point him in the right direction!
The Kelfin arrives at the embassy and meets with Ji Firepaw. He gives the Kelfin some advice on where to start his adventure.
The Kelfin leaves the embassy, feeling pretty good about his future!
The Kelfin finds the command board in front of Grommash Hold. He looks through the different fliers on there to pick out where to quest!
Finally, the Kelfin shows off how proud he is to be part of the Horde. A slave no more. For the Horde!
Gotta admit, it seems very fitting and exciting to see how it could look for the Unshackled to officially join the Horde. It seems fitting to see them become part of something bigger and even having a voice on the Horde Council would be pretty awesome. Hopefully this becomes a reality someday!
I will take more screenshots in the future as inspiration strikes me. Hope everyone enjoyed!

Did we have a special gilblin meetup event yet? It may be hard to setup, but I recall the Sethrak thread had several sethrak rally events. Could be fun.

I haven’t heard of any Gilblin rallies in-game. It’s possible some people have done similar things on RP servers. The idea sounds pretty cool if you can at least get a few people to join in.
My free time is going to be a bit random for awhile, so if anything does get planned, I’m unsure if I’d be able to attend. Good luck if you plan to have one, though!

Its been some time since BFA so I am not sure if I am up for setting one up at the time.
