The kelfin love/allied race discussion thread ✿

So with the new patch, I went ahead and checked out where the Unshackled were in both Durotar and Nazjatar. I didn’t see anything new or out of the ordinary.

Not that I was expecting anything, of course. It’s moreso that getting in the habit of checking a few places like there for each patch, big or small, is worth keeping an eye on. You never know if something may come up.

Will continue to keep an eye out for anything of interest. :japanese_goblin::trident:

We can stay hopefully. It probably won’t be till late this expansion we hear of any allied race related stuff if any.

So awhile ago, I mentioned a fan concept of an expansion that was made on a wiki a long time ago. I had found it shortly after I started playing some time after BC launched. As it turns out, it managed to survive to this day and is on Wowpedia.

In it is a fan-made concept for an expansion which had Pandaren on Alliance and Naga on the Horde, complete with jokes, flirts, and so on.

I mention it here since a lot of the jokes and flirts written for the Naga could work pretty well for playable Kelfin jokes and flirts. Thus, I figured sharing it would be pretty useful for Kelfin idea inspiration.

If anyone is interested in seeing it, you can find it here:

If I find anything else of interest, I’ll be sure to share it here. :japanese_goblin::trident:

I will have a close look soon. Nazjatar where we help them has no shortage of lines that could work as voice lines for them.

I’m wondering if the possibility of Azshara being the focus of a future expansion is likely.

I honestly don’t really trust her at all, especially since she left to seek the “true throne of power.” I would say that she would be up to no good and could still become a threat in the near future.

I’ve seen people mention off and on that Azshara and Nazjatar being its own expansion was a missed opportunity and could have been better for her in the grand scheme of things. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind seeing an aquatic expansion in general since I love water themes and underwater stuff. I wouldn’t expect such an expansion to be completely underwater all the time, of course, but a lot could be done with the theme.

Such an expansion would also be a great time to add in the Kelfin and Ankoan/Jinyu as playable races also. Part of me feels like if we don’t hear from the Unshackled anytime soon, it could be when Azshara returns and is a threat again when they offer the Horde their aid again.

Of course, I’d rather they join before such an event, but still, there are a lot of fun possibilities with this line of thinking for an expansion! :japanese_goblin::trident:

There is naga in the Shadowlands, but Azshara isn’t dead from what I am aware. She is probably back on Azeroth somewhere. However she may be even more powerful than ever because she is free of her master now.

She may be… Not on Azeroth.

She said she was seeking a throne of power.

Definetly not dead though.

As I said before, Azshara seeking a throne of power of some sort is enough cause of alarm for the Unshackled. They are not safe at all returning to where they were, since at any point and time, Azshara could send Naga legions after them and enslave them yet again.

Thus the importance of trying to seek Horde membership. The Unshackled have a lot to offer the Horde, being an underwater race, and could use the Horde’s help in protecting where ever they would reside.

I can only imagine their frustration that attempts to see membership were interrupted with the kidnapping of Baine and Thrall, as well as all the events of the Shadowlands going on. All the while Azshara is off doing who-knows-what.

Hopefully when we’re done with the Shadowlands, we can get back to business and get the Unshackled officially into the Horde, as well as the Kelfin on the Horde side of that character creation screen! :japanese_goblin::trident:

These seem so out of place against all the other races of Azeroth

Not really. They are a goblin variant after all and they have a lot of story tieing them to the events of the goblin starting area, vashjir and of course their presence in bfa.

How so?

I mean they are literally one of the races of Azeroth…

They also have reason to join the Horde right now and are literally on their doorstep.

They’re fish

Lets look at it this way. We don’t have an aquatic race yet so this would be a welcome new addition. Provided they did the models properly.

Just seems weird having a fish race.

Seeing one running around in desolace or vuldun would be so out of place. Pretty much any in land zone will be weird for them

Not really because just about every area in the game has a stream of water in it and these gilgoblins are hanging out on the shores of durotar. Which is an arid desert area. They can survive on land and desert areas just fine and have been seen in those places many times. You could also argue this for many other existing races that are playable.

  1. Imagine seeing dark irons or vulpera swimming around in Vashjir. Wouldn’t it be out of place?
  2. Demon hunters in pretty much any place that isn’t fel.
  3. Mechagnomes in places like surmar that are magically inclined.

Really isn’t that much of a stretch when you consider what we have.

By your logic naga should be in every zone that has water, yet they’re only near the oceans in a select few areas

Bottom line is they’re a fish, and while they could be on land for short periods of time, they’re not designed or equipped to build cities and become almost entirely land dwelling

I get it, people want a goblin reskin, but they’re fish. It’s the same reason we never got Jinyu

Now that I think about it, they aren’t actually fish. If we go by real life categorizations, they would most likely be considered mammals. At most amphibious. They have gills, but also seem to have regular lungs. They are many creatures in real life that are mammals but adapted to water. Besides. Like I mention before. We have many races that could be argued to be out of their element in many places like dark irons, mechagnomes and demon hunters.

They’re probably mammalian actually.

Thats neither here nor there though. They can easily go on land so its not a hinderance.

Why? They have not shown any issues with being on land, and its a world of magic and such… could easily get past any issues.

They can pretty clearly be on land for long periods of time.

Even if that is an issue magic exists.

Also building cities on land is hardly a requirement. lol

They are not fish, they are goblins that have gills, and so can breath underwater same as on land. When the ocean was opened up during 8.2 the Goblins stayed in the same open air area set aside that the Horde faction members stuck there did.

Those outside of Orgrimmar have no sign they are constantly running over to the water to jump in and run back all the time.

Or in other words, they are amphibians, that can breath open air or in water, so more akin to frogs then fish which can only breath underwater.

Meh, they’re still fish imo and I highly doubt they’ll ever happen
