They are more likely to happen then any other of the requested allied races right now. This is because out of all requested allied races we helped, these ones have actually shown up at a capital city and stayed around for the long term. This didn’t even happen with Jinyu, Sethrak or Wildhammer. As they are already an unofficial horde allied race, they may become playable at a later time when blizzard picks up allied races again.

I doubt it. There are many other races that would generate much more interest and money for Blizzard

Well you can hold that opinion if you wish.
I think given that they are the only race from BfA (That isn’t already an AR) to show up at the capitol of one of the two major factions in the world, The Horde, they are probably much more likely than most.
I also think they’re a very good pick both story-wise and for variety of races within the factions.

I think they have a lot of potential in terms of storylines they can work with the Unshackled being part of the Horde, which is fitting since the Unshackled were former slaves to an evil force.
As an aquatic race, the Kelfin have a lot of possibilities. They can be much more than just Goblins with gills. If you look at something like the Dwarves, each clan has different personalities and themes. Kelfin would have a lot of ways to be different enough to be their own race slot on the character creation screen. Characters like Neri would be great to see recurring as well.
Not to mention that being an aquatic race is a pretty unique thing to begin with. I suspect they’ve been getting use to walking around on land since we met them in BfA, but it wouldn’t be too weird to see them become amphibious and adventuring out of water. Especially since they have been shown to be capable of being out of water for long periods of time. There are much weirder things out in the world (of Warcraft!).
The way I see it, the more options we have on that character creation screen, the better.

I like the idea of them as an allied race. HOWEVER, I would prefer they focus more on upgrading customization to all existing races both allied and otherwise, before ever adding a new race again. I don’t want to see a single new race added to this game until they substantially upgrade Nightborne, as they are in a really pathetic state right now.

Blizzard should be able as a company as large and well funded as they are to do both in my opinion.

Mega corporations are like giant ships. They are hard to turn and require a lot of resources to maintain often to do even small actions. This is often when small gaming tend to be more flexible on stuff like this.
A fun thought occurred to me regarding mounts. Obviously, if Kelfin became an allied race, they would have a ground mount of sorts, but it’d be pretty cool if you could get flying mounts that were encased in bubbles to fly around on.
When I shared my idea of aquatic hunter pets, I mentioned that some underwater things like battle pets would be encased in a bubble, and mentioned this could be applied to hunter pets to have things like sharks following you on land. So I figured…why not also apply it to some mounts?
Imagine flying mounts like sharks or sea turtles encased in bubbles. You could say the Kelfin put an enchantment on them so both they and the rider could ride around on them out of water in more comfort. I’m sure something could be done for other races to ride them while also in the bubble so they can actually breathe, but it’s a fun thought I had that would’ve given the Kelfin more personality.
Not to mention that it shows that they would be dedicated to the Horde’s cause by finding ways of utilizing things like underwater mounts above land. I figured it would be cool to see them flying around Orgrimmar and such on different varieties of fish, whales, and dolphins too. I wouldn’t mind a killer whale mount, myself.
Just a fun thought I had.

I think it would probably be like an aquatic version of the vulpera mount. Some kind of caravan, but with a snapdragon, seashells and stuff.

I may be unsubbing tomorrow for one month since at the moment I am only subbed for the forums. So I can focus on some art stuff. Please keep this thread going. I will be watching even if I am not subbed. I would return by mid april so I can get a shot at trust level 3 again so I can update the thread.

I think it’s a good time to take a break in general since there isn’t much going on in-game currently. We likely won’t see the next patch for quite awhile still, and even then what follows after that and a potential next expansion announcement will likely take longer.
I will say that I’ve been seeing a lot of rumors, which is just speculation without any evidence of course, of a new revamp of Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor for next expansion, which I personally wouldn’t mind at all. If such a thing became true, it would be a great time to add in some new races.
Guess we’ll see what happens in the future, but hopefully it’s something with playable Horde Kelfin involved.

I really hope this happens. And that they consider adding in as many races as they can as they do so.
People liked the AR system. We should have more of that. (Or a total revamp into a proper subrace system.)

You’ve worked so hard on this. You should be able to comment and continue. I do hope you get TL3 back faster than it sounds like you can.
Blizzard really needs to consider lessening those requirements.

That would be a very exciting announcement to see a bunch of new races announced on both sides to fill up that space on the character creation screen. Especially ones people have been asking for. To see all the old areas revamped with people playing these new races would be amazing.
It’s a fun thought, granted I’ll temper my expectations for whatever the next expansion is. Still, I can always hope!
