The kelfin love/allied race discussion thread ✿

What do you think the Kelfin afterlife is?

Like not the Shadowlands and such, but what they think the afterlife is? Their mythos for it?

If they are anima based being definitely. I am not sure if we will see them in the shadowlands though.

No, I mean… like The Drust called the afterlife Thros. but it was just part of Ardenwealde.

What do you think the Kelfin call their afterlife? What do you think they think of it?

They keep records of those of them that have died. Book of the unshackled it is called. Its very interesting. However I am not sure if they are aware an afterlife even exists. This is when you get level 20 with Vim.

I’m… I’m not crying… you are…

I haven’t gotten any of the companions to 20 yet. Think my highest is 12… lol

Love the kelfin. Thats such a sweet thing they do to remember… and the part where he says “Worst thing you can do is forget.”

Oh that hurts me right in the heart.

There is many nice things to say about them. Not to mention they are one of the npc factions we had with probably the best lore development. Well maybe. Tolvir, sethrak and some others also had good lore development.

Being honest I think the Ankoan and Kelfin both have fair amount of personal group lore peppered in as you unlock more with your companions.

Things Sethrak and Tol’vir do not have.

But then blizzard often has uneven lore for races overall when compared.

Sethrak music is quite nice. I also love their architecture. Especially the entrance to that temple. I do agree though. Kelfin have it some of them best with their lore development.

They say every person has three deaths. The first is when your body dies. The second is when your body completely deteriorates in the grave. The third is when your name is said for the last time, and you are forgotten.

The kelfin make sure they never forget. Their brothers and sisters and siblings never get that final death. And that’s really great.

Reminds me of the plot for coco. In the sense that in the afterlife of that movie, your truth death is once you are forgotten.

Doing some of the prepatch and seeing the areas close to Orgrimmar under siege by different undead and the Cult of the Damned, I could see the Unshackled leading aid to help protect Orgrimmar. I think Razor Hill was one of the areas being swamped, and I know a few areas you go to in the questline to go back to Northrend mention badly needing reinforcements, so I don’t see why the Unshackled, who are already there, wouldn’t assist.

Not to mention that the scourge could also come from the ocean in theory, from people/beings who have died in the ocean and such, so the Unshackled could help protect from the ocean as well as help fight the undead on land. If the Horde really needs reinforcements while we’re going to be busy in the Shadowlands, I’m sure the Unshackled would be happy to repay the help in Nazjatar by helping protect Orgrimmar.

Just seems like a great way to set up the Unshackled officially joining the Horde to me! :japanese_goblin::trident:

Its possible they have already joined, but just technically aren’t playable. They continue to hang out in that area into shadowlands. I hope it is a sign they will be made playable someday.

Why would you do this to me?

Love this idea!

Be sure to let me know guys if you have any specific ideas for how the gilgoblin model outta be done. Currently I am trying to stick closely to cannon so we have a realistic visualization of what they would probably look like if playable. One of the exception is the tentacles since I think those make the model look quite cool, without necessarily being too much a stretch. However a full head of tentacle hair probably would be pushing it. Its different for transformations though.

While not canon… How about chin tentacles?

The Naga have em… Could be mixed in with beards…

The octo transformation I have works with tentacles, but it would only work as a villain npc or for a class, but I think beard tentacles are probably straying to far from what they are established as. Not even void elves have beard tentacles. Could work for transformations though maybe.

Chin tentacles more as a little thing. Not like long like the naga. Lots of fish and the like have little tentacle bits hanging form their jaws. (they’re not really tentacles)

Perhaps for a special transformation. I think tentacle hair is fine so long as its not full tentacles. Tentacle, whiskers antenna. I try not to stray to far from what kelfin are established as since it risks stepping into pure fan fic territory. It can also give people unreasonable expectations for the race should it be playable. The main things so far I’ve included that aren’t explicitly cannon are:

  1. A few tentacles in hair.
  2. Bioluminescent tatoos and body details. They definitely have tatoos though.
  3. The multicolored hair texture with pearl like dots.
  4. The transformations.

Everything else is pretty well established.

Personally I’d love to see some Kelfins on the horde and Sethrak on the alliance.

I personally I hope the leaders of the Kelfins are Vim, Peon and Neri as a group.
