Gilgoblins that can drown is almost as bad as eredar that can’t be warlocks. Of all bfa races that weren’t playable these are easily the ones that make the most sense from a lore perspective. What other races have we seen such character development from, helped us as much as we did and actually showed up at a capital city after? Not even ankoan were found at a capital city. A must have racial also would be summon seagiant along with some kind of water breathing/and or swim speed boost.
I love the personalities the Kelfin have. It’s quite different from the regular goblins too.
So different yet so similar. Nazjatar in many ways echoes the goblin starting zone in ways like:
- The naga are like the jungle trolls.
- There is gilgoblins all over the zone with a thriving culture we all help.
- There is impending doom. The waves could come crashing down at any time.
- We have to deal with a very corrupt and unscrupulous leader who is a danger to everyone.
- You see everything about goblins, but in the reverse kinda. Selfess vs greedy. Its interesting.
Also. Remember how we fought the naga in the goblin starting zone? It just made so much sense for these guys to be our allies.

So I just thought of this…literally now. But the new fairy xmog glows and changes color tones, and it reminds me of your bio luminescence for gilgoblins.
This could be a step in the right direction when it comes to getting the technology for proper gilgoblin customizations.
I could also be insane, but the thought occurred to me.

Take note here how it says undersea allies.
Quotes like these all just solidifies the idea to me that these guys really should be playable.

Ankoan have scales that change color and I know for a fact the wow engine supports this. I can try to make some color changing skin as a visualization of this sometime. Its a bit tricky, but definitely doable.
They have so much good development that it would be a shame to not make them playable. I don’t think this 1 shared skeleton per AR thing has to be a permanent rule either (in other words, Vulpera don’t prevent Kelfin from being playable just because they share a skeleton).
I would be satisfyed if they made the Gillgoblins customisation options for Goblins, but an AR would be cool
My goblin looks like this and I absolutely love her. What I do is I use the twisting eyeball toy and the zanjir weapon rack for that helm and this trident.
As well as some equipment for the fins. Which is really nice, but I legitimately think they should be an allied race because of the racials, them being druids and plus they have a heck of a lot of potential with enough effort put into this. My main goal of this thread is to make it known that kelfin are a wanted allied race and I hope for the best scenario. If all they will ever get to be is customization, then at least I want it done well and I would like to see the kelfin continue to help horde on future adventures.
This was a well made thread, I want to see them again, but hope they get some more interesting customization.
Some tentacle hair would really nice and if they could add the cannon foot, fin and ear shapes. I think it can go beyond that though. If they really wanted to, they could put a similar level of effort into gilgoblins and we may have something like this:

This model edit I did works with all the goblin animations by the way. Else this could work as a moonkin form.
between seaweed hair tentacles, seashells, various skintones, fin shapes, hand and feet fins. ear fins, and different types of glowy body markings and eyes, I think they’d have quite the amount to choose for customizations.
And you see. The thing about this is that many of these customizations don’t make as much sense for goblins and/or if they just become a customization they will be lacking the potential amount of better customization options they could have.
The more I try to think up a possible Kelfin character my brain just goes to Old Greg every time
Give it time. As I make more fanart, it will be much clearer.
Gnomest/Evablossom.
A. I greatly dislike these creatures.
B. At first I was a hard no, but after seeing the work put into this I’m a soft yes. Some of the models look really cool, and do look like a unique race that would be fun to play. Good job.
I actually wasn’t very interested in the Unshackled and hated them but I now realize that’s because of the dailies I was forced to do.
Sounds like an interesting race and I’d love to see them in the Horde since they sound like cooler goblins.
I really think a lot of folk just don’t see the potential cause no one has adequately explored how amazing they could be.
Gnomest has been doing amazing work.
Kelfin are now my number two race behind Sethrak. And I truly love Sethrak.
Throwing in my support for kelfin/gilblin allied race! Great work putting this together Gnomest.
But i wanna make old greg
The thing I think most people who oppose this race don’t want is for it to either 1.
- Simply be goblins but with a blue skin tint and maybe some simple fins.
- It coming in place of another race they wanted. And with Vulpera out of the way, that concern is greatly lessened.
This is the kind of potential I see in this race with the proper effort. Its very easy to look at the cata models and think they would be a bad race.

Kinda reminds me of Waycrest manor. Gameplay wise its one of the most hatred dungeons. Thematically, polls suggested it is the most favorite of peoples bfa dungeons

Thank you! Appreciated.
