The Horde will never change without punishments

This 100%. The War of Thorns was the most horrible thing to ever happen in WoW and all of that just to not complete the plot and leave the race to die…

You must be trying to protect a post which was blindly written “No it’s because she’s a horrible writer”

to a post which said

“A writer received death threats on twitter”

no idea what he means by a ritual, by the rangers were the elites of the elites in elven society

we also blow through old gods, demons and other creatures that are supposed to be absolutely terrifying

the game and lore are…disjointed
the valkyr would demolish 99% of mortals with extreme ease

no he wouldn’t, malfurion has been shown to be powerful but standing toe to toe with beings created to be eternal and extremely powerful by titan creations
he can barely stand toe to toe with elemental lords without assistance from equally powerful druids

tyrande isn’t that strong, it’s why she had to wake up malfurion to deal with the (still small) demonic invasion

this assumes she was genuinely enhanced by a god, and the constant complaining that she was abandoned makes it seem more like she wasn’t
or she didn’t notice the surge of power which makes her a moron

bear in mind that the Valkyr are powerful enough that even the lich king can’t control them
the only times they’ve genuinely died it’s been a choice

even Helya a “traitor” valkyr is still active and growing in power…y’know that one we took an entire raid team + odyn and fought? yeah…the valkyr don’t go down because some mortals hit them a few times, their deaths have genuine meaning when they do die

like with them dropping instead of sylvanas…which appears to be a trade with something that the valkyr are willing to make for unknown reasons
not them dying

in WoW yes, in the warcraft history that we were painted before it? nah, not even close
even the Kaldorei have done worse for less noble intentions

it was a terrible thing to do in game because the way it was done is silly and nonsensical
it was poor writing for a horrible action
but in terms of history of warcraft it’s a fairly tame action
there have been worse and better, we’re just usually not directly shown them and many were past events before we got to see the world

Yea I was talking about WoW, not about the entire Warcraft history. I just think they went way too far with the War of Thorns and all the horrible details. Even in the trailer they showed dead innocents and their relatives grieving about their deaths. Then the screams that played in the background in darkshore and more…

I just don’t see why they make such a tragic event and then leave us with absolutely no conclusion and make us end up with nothing.

they haven’t, they’ve not given closure sure but it’s only been one expansion so far with a basic struggle
there should be some form of recompense or revenge down the road, but it wouldn’t really fit into the BFA timeframe due to the sheer amount of work that would/will be required to take the fight to darkshore to get it back

ideally they’ll use the Kul’Tiran fleet to start working on an offensive next expac

or let’s put it another way…if i wanted to invade Europe, how quickly do you think one could mobilize their forces to strike it? when engaged elsewhere

as dark as it is, i have to disagree with it going too far.
it shows that there are “real” consequences to the actions we take (both in game and irl) when it comes to war

and elves have historically in warcraft (fantasy in general tbh) been a race that goes to extremes, one would expect their ilk to take any advantage they see because that is how they operate and the silithus operation presented just that

and i don’t mean the feint…
assuming it SI:7 intel was good and the kaldorei marched to intercept an army on the move one would expect the elves as a species to see this opening and take it, because the island is a stronghold and therefore a potential threat
sylvanas being an elven ranger general would be expected to take this opening

she would’ve been expected to do the same had she been living or even if the sundering never happened and the kaldorei were still subordinate to the high elves

moreover by having such brutal actions being taken we can watch the kaldorei throw off the shackles and act how they’re SUPPOSED to be acting (as both historically and in lore they’re extremely cruel and territorial beings, even their relationship to nature involves anything natural not obeying them deserving to be cut down)

so far when war actions have been taken blizzard has had a show and don’t tell policy regarding the consequences, this has directly led to people believing certain half truths about the wars in general
“citizens died” sound crappy, but if it doesn’t come accompanied with something showing it likely is true…then no one cares

Yeah while I get Nathanos was praised to be on par with Silvermoon’s best archers I find him surviving against Genn let alone Malfurion and Tyrande (mad and powered by evil Elune powers too boot) on Darkshore nothing but silly on Darkshore he should have suffered some serious injuries or at least almost die.

The problem is that not only did blizz say that tyrande got her revenge in 8.1 and the story is done, but they also made Shandris and the rest of the night elves stand against Tyrande and forgive the horde after all they’ve done which I just find insulting…

And this is a major issue with the writing.

All the powerful characters have been placed on the Alliance. So in order to ever have a Horde character fight an Alliance character it will be unbelievable. Because of the one sided writing.

You can, unfortunately, only counter bad writing with more bad writing at times. In order for the fights to be more believable, the Horde has to have much stronger characters.

atleast on the ptr she isn’t done.

this could be more a matter of understanding what’s coming
it’s the same reason the druids “mostly” forgave the orcs and worked alongside them after their forests were destroyed and their demi god killed

if the druids are right…and we’ve no reason to believe they aren’t
the dream is having serious issues not failing which means dire consequences that are vastly worse than anything that could’ve been done to the night elves

just as the burning of the tree may not turn out to be entirely a bad thing, and in turn result in even malfurion viewing it as fine
the dream > all, and if it turns out the world trees being too corrupted hurts the dream (as it’s shown to do in the past) it may very well have been a needed act eventually

in the end it depends on how they explain things, for all we know for instance it’s not “elune” helping tyrande but elune actively steering the night elves to avoid her

They just need to stop killing off Horde characters in dumb ways or at least strengthen the ones we still have that got nothing going for them Rokhan could be a great rep for the Darkspear since they killed Vol’jin off but the poor guy seems to not even be under the devs radar heck his model is still old.

Rokhan wouldn’t be near the power level of Tyrande, Malfurion, Alleria, Anduin, Velen, etc, either though.

Well that still doesn’t explain all the civilians that had to be killed in the process. I just want Sylvanas to pay for her actions and get done with it. The new writers have a really weird obsession with her it seems like. 9.0 will likely be the 3rd cinematic in a row that includes Sylvanas…

There is just no way they can write a believable redemption for Sylvanas, just let us kill her in a painful way and be done with it. I don’t want her to be a hero and I don’t want Blizzard to justify genocide.

If they made them stronger sure we still don’t have a strongest shaman anymore since they declawed Thrall any Horde mages will always be a joke to Jaina.

Holy crap you are /super/ hung up on the beginning of the xpac. It’s not even the worst genocide in WoW. That goes to the frost trolls, who were literally all killed to the last and turned into Scourge. Do you not see the writing on the wall that Tyrande still intends to pursue revenge no matter what the rest of the Alliance says? You can’t ask for immediate resolution in the middle of a plot.

I mean as a loyalist who wants to be evil and warmongering I do feel like I am being punished. Horde just got their balls chopped off and are going for some kind of pacifist route. Especially the forsaken feels like they are being gutted and given light infused hugs.

Don’t get me wrong my nelf wants her tree fort back badly but this isn’t a happy ending for my horde toons either…

territorial race that barely evacuated it’s citizens even though the worgen managed to teleport out within mere hours

there’s not too many ways to avoid them trying to defend their tree, esp if the old gods have gotten to tyrande and are using her to defend a weapon (the world tree) that they’ve already gotten their claws into

most people do, but most expansions have had this nasty bloody habit of just killing off characters in dumb ways that leads to the story BEING the way it is…a dumb cycle that just keeps saying the same crap repeatedly

this sylvanas and tyrande thing can be spun in ways that break the cycle and make an actual decent story

there are actually a few ways, but nothing is pointing to it being the case anyway

would make for a terrible story
ideally we’ll see what exactly convinced valkyr to sacrifice legitimate immortality for her first

they’re not making her into a hero
and it wasn’t genocide, not as it was presented anyway

regardless they’re not justifying her actions, infact they’re openly villanizing her

the appearance based off existing content and the way the horde/alliance talk in the latest patch appears to be that they’re trying to move away from the faction war as a whole, in order to do this however they have to craft a basis for things like PvP and competition with other players in the game somehow

there have been actual genocides in warcraft history, many carried out by the kaldorei themselves
it’s nothing new

the difference is in order to actual play it out in a proper way and not make it trash they can’t just wrap up the sylvanas plot, doing so would make it feel rushed and empty

Is that true? I have to see this part. Been away from Horde questline this expac. because with Sylvanas it doesn’t feel like the Horde.

But I wanna see this part.

You mean that it does not fit your personal definition of the word after a Sophist reasoning that fits with your goal of reducing the importance of the event.

Mention at least one if you like two that fit your definition and are not based on Maiew’s comment when he mentions that they ended up with minor races in the past.

Ho otherwise War casualties are understood military personnel killed in combat do not fall into the category of war crime.

the closest thing to genocide that the Alliance has committed was the irresponsible submission of the Goblin ship

So you are one of those people convinced that the Tree is corrupt despite being purified and have been blessed, what next? You will also say that Nordrasill is corrupt.

I think your information is quite outdated, I don’t know if it is intentionally or just due to carelessness.

I would suggest you repair the warcraft chronicles

since it is clear that you are guided by the subject of 2013 or earlier as you could see with your history of the creation of the Dragons.

Some time ago something that Bolvar fordragon was not a leader of the Alliance having been replaced by Varian, under that same premise I could deny Garrosh’s loss by being dismissed by Thrall before being overthrown.

I could also wash my hands with those of Rastakhan since, according to you, I was not yet part of the Horde.

Be careful when presenting premises to defend something since they can be used against you later.

Yeah…the Horde and Alliance story have some pretty stark differences.
