when their stuff procs it can be quite nasty and painful too. paladins are not actually a joke class despite the meme repeated. theyre actually really annoying lol/
The madness of this place…
You can always just purge/dispel their entire combat system. That’s what I used to do.
So you feel WC3 had bad story-telling?
While this is true, it costs the Paladin the same global you just spent to re-apply the Seal you Purged, so it just ends up stalemating. Though Purging things like Freedom or BoP are very nice things to remove.
That’s irrelevant since WC3 and Classic are two different games.
So you’re saying Classic has bad story-telling?
Are you still mad at this? Are you mad about Draenei vindicators too because they’re not humans?
Individual plots? Sure. Good storytelling? No, not really. There wasn’t honestly consistently told narrative arcs in WoW until Wrath.
And frankly, I’d say the addition of Tauren, Blood Elf, and Troll Paladins is a narrative plus. It’s not bad storytelling just because you don’t like it.
Classic had no overarching story. Its quests served well enough at the time as a world-building device, but I’d hardly call them good. They were acceptable.
Y’know I’m leveling this just because of you, Jawah.
Some of the stories were excellent (Jospeh Redpath, Alliance side Onxya, Scythe of Elune). Others were okay and a few were blech,
Know what I see when I play classic? Too many male human paladins. And I have both alliance and horde there.
It true Garithos was not King of Lordaeron but he came close to the throne. Now people can fight all they want about what the other Alliance nations knew at the time. Truth is the royal family was gone dead or missing and though to be dead. Most of the Alliance High Command in Lordaeron was wipe out which i have to give Arthas credit for no other group has ever cripple Alliance High Command so well.
That being said Garithos was a Noble of the Kingdom and it highest ranking officer left and in theory might of be the only known living noble for the Kingdom so he could of taken the throne and at this point and time power had not be transfer from Lordaeron to another nations so he basicly had the power as the Alliance High King without the title in theory. Given how he acted i would guess this was his mind set.
Could have. Might have. But didn’t. So ultimately just hypotheticals.
100 posts people.
It’s almost as if it’s a very iconic race and class combo and the easiest one to imagine in a heroic protagonist role of a fantasy setting.
Perhaps the knight in shining armor, sure, but few knights were actually paladins. At any rate, I generally tend to find wizards, warriors, or rogues to be more exciting protagonists, but to each their own.
Those classes were insanely popular in vanilla too, think they might even be in Classic right now as well.
Playing a human in a fantasy game. Yeah thats epic and iconic alright. You would think there would be something more interesting like dwarves…night elves…oh who am I kidding. Thats just silly.
I know! You would think that people are playing a fantasy setting RPG to make believe they’re in said fantasy setting…or something.
Maybe someone wants to RP those Merlin or King Arthur type roles? I don’t know.
/shrug
It’s all up to personal taste really but yes, people have very good reasons to gravitate to Humans as their race choice if they want, just as they would for other races. They are just very easy to see in the protagonist role. (Though personally I disagree that they have no epicness to them. If you don’t think descending from gargantuan viking peoppe made by Titan gods inspired by Norse mythology then I know not what to tell you.)
Personally to me, the people who feel like they sit on some high horse for picking something other than a Human strike me as just as annoying as the MHP that’s become a meme on these forums.
Ah, but I’m not the one denigrating or making fun of other people for what they choose to play so I feel this is misaimed.
