Did you forget the horde quests from blood elves to murder alliance?
Your opinion has been noted and categorized alongside every other “THREE OG RACES ONLY!!!” poster, few and far between they may be.
? I think you completely misunderstood my comment. I never wanted Ashbringer in the first place. I think that the lore of Ashbringer was ruined because of Paladins being given it. One of the greatest weapons in WoW’s history is now in the hands of a guy named Bubbleoseven.
The same thing applies to nearly other artifact, if that matters. Frostmourne, Doomhammer, etc. These are iconic weapons of iconic characters. They shouldn’t even be accessible to players, let alone given to them for free.
Lol… Just wow. So, you’re telling me you don’t care for an RPG’s fantasy and story whatsoever, at all. You just play to feel important and a hero.
When you stop thinking that way, you’ll enjoy gaming more, I promise. Read the story of the game you’re playing. When an RPG is created, it’s not so that you can put yourself into the game and become the center of the story. It’s so that you can live out the story of a character, or to be apart of their world. Not said character be apart of yours.
And you mentioned SWTOR. Did it ever occur to you as to why KotOR was so much more beloved than SWTOR will ever be? It’s because the story was centered around a character, not someone’s made up PC. So when everyone was finished with the game, and they look back on it, they can think of how awesome the storytelling and gameplay was, and how they loved experiencing and living Revan’s story.
I also never wanted this. I hate, hate, hate the concept of my character being the center of everything. I enjoy WoW much more when I am apart of the characters I grew up with’s world. Not having the world pandered to me, and it revolving around me. Following Tirion as he defeated Arthas at Icecrown felt amazing. Watching Tirion die off so I can become the next Ashbringer? Just an awful experience, all around. A waste of an amazing character. A horrible way to die for the character, as he truly deserved to just pass away with old age. And such a terrible story direction for one of the most iconic weapons in WoW. I would have 100% rathered a character take up the mantle of Ashbringer, and be Tirion’s successor, as opposed to the PC. Or even just have the sword being held by the Argent Crusade until it was called upon again, in a time of need, and someone worthy rose up and had it bestowed upon them. Maybe Arator, for example, could’ve been that person? But oh well. Dead dream, I guess.
I was actively trying to avoid this particular discussion, as this is a whole different debate entirely, but yes I would have rathered the Forsaken never to have joined the Horde in the first place. I personally feel that they should’ve remained their own faction entirely. But, I’m not as opposed to them being apart of the Horde, as I am with the Blood Elves. This is due to the fact that the Forsaken are a very dark-themed race, and many Forsaken have had their minds warped since they turned Undead. They truly aren’t the same people they were in life. As there is just really no way innocent, Light-worshipping, friendly civilians would turn to using the plague and burning down World Trees and such. Though, I still believe that it definitely doesn’t make much sense as to why the Forsaken would reach out to the Horde at all, given the fact that they are, while Undead, Humans, and they have never, ever had a good history with the Horde. Especially Orcs.
And before you bring up the whole, “They reached out to the Alliance, and the Alliance betrayed them!” argument, Sylvanas and the Forsaken murdered Garithos and every Alliance member under him, long before WoW came to be. And while yes, Garithos was a pretty bad guy, Sylvanas did not know this, as she was long since Undead by the time Garithos and Kael’thas met up. She essentially just worked with Garithos to defeat the Burning Legion in Lordaeron, and then immediately turned on him and had all of his men killed.
And yet Lor’themar is still the sole leader of Blood Elven society. He just has underlings that manage each individual group. Liadrin, Rommath, Halduron, etc.
Oh yes, so because she can’t be around the Sunwell, due to the sacrifices she made on a foreign world, to defeat an alien threat that would wipe out Azeroth entirely, she deserves eternal banishment from her homeland. Come on dude. Lor’themar treated her like a traitor the moment she showed up. He showed her complete disrespect, and the only reason he hadn’t banished her any sooner than he did, is he couldn’t find any, somewhat reasonable, excuse to do so. As soon as something bad happened though, he immediately punished her and branished her an outcast and a traitor. For what? An accident?
You can’t possibly justify Lor’themar’s treatment of Alleria. You just can’t. In no world is that mentality morally sound. Should she not be allowed around the Sunwell? By all means. That’s reasonable. The Sunwell is on an island north of Silvermoon, anyways. But there’s absolutely no reason that she can’t live in Quel’thalas or Silvermoon City.
???
Illidan is a Night Elf. He belongs to the Night Elf theme, and is idolized by Night Elf players. He is one of the three major Night Elf primary characters, along with Tyrande and Malfurion.
Night Elves are an Alliance race, and thus, by extension, as Illidan is a Night Elf character, Illidan is an Alliance character.
Now if you try tell me that you also think that Thrall is not a Horde character any more, because he was a member of the Earthern Ring in Cataclysm, and has since not been Warchief of the Horde, we’ll be done talking entirely.
Big deal. It’s a game. Games are suppose to be fun for players, yes? Seems like a good idea to give the player’s character an important lore weapon in the story in order to help increase their enjoyment. If you didn’t get enjoyment out of wielding said weapon, that’s your problem. Glamour your Ashbringer to some random green.
Stop trying to ruin Bubbleoseven’s fun just because you have issues with it.
Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Dragon Age, SWTOR, and FFXIV are all RPGs that told stories that revolve around a character that I created and built up myself… and I considered those to be some of the greatest RPGs ever made.
They did exactly what you said RPGs don’t supposedly do… allow me to put myself into the story instead of followin’ someone else’s characters.
This.
I won’t comment on races, but the game definitely felt more unique when the factions had exclusive classes.
The greatest part of this entire thread is that we KNEW what the very first response to it would be, because the Hordeposters on this forum are incapable of forming a cohesive argument.
So instead they used the tried and true “attack the OP’s race/sex/class” bit for easy upvotes and cred.
It’s like clockwork!
I agree.
Your logic is counterproductive, and actually incorrect. Both Bubbleoseven and I were having a good time before Ashbringer was given to us. Now my gaming experience was dulled, whereas his has remained the same. The only one suffering here is me. He would’ve never had an issue in the first place, because Ashbringer was never his to begin with. Now, taking it from him? Yes, that would cause issues. But if he was going to be upset because he couldn’t have something in the first place, then it definitely sounds like his own problem.
And all of those games you enjoyed, if they were good, I only played three of those that you have mentioned, all of which I didn’t really enjoy, btw, were only as good as they were due to the story your character was created into. If you wanted to just build a story about yourself, all about you, and the NPCs weren’t important, go outside and play real life.
RPGs are good because of the story that they are written into, not because of someone’s made up PC character.
By all of what you have said, I assume you’re not a book reader, huh?
That doesn’t make Alliance.
Close, but no, he’s not. Illidan is as much of an Alliance character as much as he’s a Horde character. Not at all.
But I didn’t.
Thrall was not only warcheif just prier, but continued his duties as Horde-aligned not but an expansion later. Not because he’s an orc, but because he literally made the Horde what it is today. Illidan is not comparable to that, he is and never joined the Alliance, he just belongs to a race which a faction of joined the Alliance.
He was literally chosen because of his status as Ranger-General in the absence of Kael’thas. He’s a Reagent-Lord, and was chosen, not motivated in his own right to become that.
Yes.
He did not, he treated her with cation because he knew her attitude when it came to the Alliance.
Yes, the potential to weaponize a similar event to force Quel’Thalas to join the Alliance is massive. Seems like you’re the naive one.
Blizzard didn’t remember this.
Anecdotal.
Novels lack the interactive nature of video games.
Not that it really has any relevance to the topic, I’ve read:
Dragon Lance
Forgotten Realms
Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
The Hobbit
The Dwarves by Markus Heitz
All of the Harry Potter novels
Several light novels
The Obsidian Trilogy by Merceres Lackey and James Mallory
Ten Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
Just remember what happens when you ASSume.
This is 100% a troll post, not even going to reply to anything you said. Just gonna do my civil duties and move on. Please stop posting in this thread.
Actualy, Ashbringer DOES belong to the ret paladin because, Guess What? Tirion bequethed it to the player on his death bed. Just like Thrall passed the Doomhammer to me and every other enhancement shaman when he felt he wasn’t worthy of wielding it anymore.
Yes it would be his problem if he got upset if he couldn’t have Ashbringer if they never gave it to us, but now that it has, that’s a moot point. Your efforts to make arguments around what coulda/woulda/shoulda doesn’t fly.
You say that, but I can say that about every post you made in the thread so far, even the header is bait.
It was my mistake to even reply in the first place, but now that I’m here, I’m gonna have my own fun.
I too like playing classic because male human paladins are a joke class in Vanilla and it is so easy to wtfpwn them.
Garithos was never a King. He was a military leader who assumed shaky power over a kingdom that had just lost the King, Prince, and Lightbringer.
The panickedly elected safety net is not really a good standard for the kingdom’s ideals.
This is actually 90% of players in general, not really a Paladin thing. It’s just doubled down worse in Classic, due to there being a major difference again, between a skilled player and a non-skilled player. Not saying that everyone could push to 2,700 in BFA, of course. But, the general skill floor of classes has gone up a lot. For example, as a Fire Mage, if you just know how to Polymorph and press Greater Pyroblast, you can easily get 2k+.
Whereas in Classic, knowing how to manage all of your abilities, or at least most, is key. Paladins are actually a top tier PvP class in Classic, due to their many, many tools, and survival abilities. However, most Paladin players don’t know how to properly manage all of their abilities. An easy example would be something as simple as swapping Auras depending on who you are fighting. Frost Resistance Aura for a Frost Mage, for example. Most players won’t do that.
