Question, who attacked first in that mission? Was it the orcs or the Night Elves? If it was the former then you might have a point. But it was actually the latter, so why would they attack them, viewing them as an actual threat if teasing them from the shadows would be just as effective of getting them out of Ashenvale Forest?
And he viewed them as an equal threat to the Burning Legion as a result.
Why are you doing this Dreadmoore? The more you argue, the more you are proving me right about your motivations behind this petty squabble.
Because they had Cenarius and believed he would be enough. Cenarius was the biggest gun the Night Elves had. Even Archimonde, yes that ARCHIMONDE knew this. The Legion didn’t see Tyrande, nor even Malfurion as an actual threat. But they did see Cenarius as one.
Step back for a minute Dreadmoore and think why Tyrande had to awaken Malfurion. Why she betrayed her own people to free Illidan? It was because Cenarius was dead. Not because of the Legion. If Cenarius was still alive, the Legion would not have invaded. Archimonde and Tichondrius literally say this. I even quoted the latter saying it earlier. it is why the Legions invasion of Kalimdor happened in the final orc mission and not at any point before.
As per chronicles it was “more then a few trees”. In fact it made it quite clear that Tyrande was ok with them getting resources from the forest but she decided to act when the orcs were outright just destroying the forest.
lol, such a shame she couldn’t have bothered to show them how to use wisps to harvest wood without cutting down the trees…
Odd how the fight wouldn’t have happened if the NE’s had just talked to the Orcs, learned of their situation and perhaps offered to help them find a better way to do things.
Part of me would’ve liked it if the whole conflict came about due to Tichondrius. We know him and Archimonde planned on using the Warsong clan to off Cenarius, allowing the Legions invasion of Kalimdor to begin. So why not make it that Tichondrius, a Dreadlord influnced the Night Elves to attack the Orcs instead of beginning with diplomacy. Thereby drawing the ire of Cenarius. Afterwards Mannaroth would piss his blood into a fountain nearby the Orcs base camp. With their backs against the wall, they would be desperate to get out alive. Mannaroths blood to the rescue.
An additional benefit to the Legion would be that the Orcs, the Night Elves and the Alliance refugees would all be against each other. An enemy divided etc. Although the Orcs and Alliance refugees would put their differences aside, for now, against a bigger threat… the Night Elves would not be so easily convinced. Since their ace in the hole is dead. And until Medivh came back to slap everyone around, that is what happened. Malfurion saw how the Humans and Orcs were also against the Legion and figured they would be powerful allies. Tyrande, still angry over Cenarius’ death refuses to do so.
‘looks at the Darkshore warfront and how the Alliance gets lumber from wisps’
You can’t even grab a lumberaxe and chop down trees in the Alliances Darkshore Warfront. While for Horde you can and have to. As the passive income is slow as hell. While for Alliance it is fast as sonic
If I had to guess, their thought process might go something like this: "Oh look, the Burning Legion is sending the equivalent of bugs against us. They really think we’re that weak? Ha, we’ll squash their bugs and show them!"
I’ve always wondered how Night Elves feel about humans cutting down trees, because humans canonically do that.
And yet the night elves dont seem to be able to give the Alliance lumbers in places like Lion’s landing or our Garrison and needs us to find our own lumber.
Like this feels more like gameplay(and a neat callback) rather then lore that night elves have an infinite lumber mode.(or a more middle ground that they can have wisps do this but there is a limit to it)
And again Wolfheart makes a point to mention the Alliance has limited logging rights in Ashenvale.
Humans are an Alliance race. Therefore when they cut down trees, they do so after asking the tree if it is okay with being cut down, apologizing to the tree, then planting seven more trees to replace the tree they cut.
Therefore the night elves are fine with the kindly, polite humans cutting down trees, just so the Alliance has no lasting or impactful internal conflict that might drive a story.
She is being sarcrastic. The night elves however have nothing against logging(hence why they gave Alliance logging rights in Ashenvale itself) they care more that people are doing in their forest without their permission and they are doing it in a destructive manner(heck Tyrande didnt even mind that the orcs were logging on Warcraft 3, just that they were overlogging and destroying everything).
Heck, Tyrande even gave goblins permission to log in Aszhara if it meant trying to keep the peace.
Druids likely frown on clear cutting in general. But, the Kaldorei historically do not care much about what happens beyond their borders so long as it won’t spill over them eventually, they don’t go full Captain Planet. What Humans go do in Elwynn forest is their business.
Eh? They definitely do, within their lands anyways. That is why they rely on wisps to magically grow and shape wood without ever actually damaging the trees themselves. Never will you find a Kaldorei lumber mill.
That was more an attempt at supplication after nearly loosing everything to Garrosh’s march on Kaldorei lands post Cata than her being cool with the pit mined bio-hazard zone they quickly reduced Azashara into. Even then, the Horde still came back and curb stomped them a few years later.
Ah Dreadmoore. Disappears for hours, comes back by putting words into peoples mouths. Well after the conversation ended because they are just that petty.
Weird how Dreadmoore thinks asking a hypothetical question is me actually agreeing with the question itself.
So instead of answering the question, they would rather resort to try and speak for me and it just so happens to agree with them. Despite the fact I have repeatedly stated otherwise, and even supplied quotes from WC3 itself that says otherwise.
But of course, can’t let the facts get in the way of petty internet drama can we? Even more so when it was just a minor thing. I tried to be polite, I even supplied quotes to support my stance. But instead Dreadmoore took offense to that and started acting like a child. As they always do. But I guess that is on me for taking such obvious bait.
Seriously dude, it has been four to five hours since you ran away. The conversation moved on and yet here you are still desperately trying to continue something you left. Did I damage your ego so badly that you need to continue this drama for no reason? Let it go.
Dude, its Christmas. People have lives. Calling someone a coward for not being on for a few days is nothing but an ad-hominem attack. It makes a claim about being about the facts rings hollow.
