The Hallowfall Fishing Derby changes are awful

… They really did that again? Changed something once again that literally no one asked for?

There’s no way it’s not ‘busywork’ for some sad sap to implement, and get to blame for when everyone hates it smh.

“We’re listening!” No, you really aren’t Blizz, lol.

And yet they can’t do something smart like move the Sacbrood trinket to the last boss to avoid people jumping ship asap the min they don’t get it from the 1st boss…? Hmm

Yes, this is awful. What are they thinking? I’m never doing this quest again unless they revert.

I absolutely agree.
I currently only play one character due to just…other things in life, and do not have time to fish for marks on alts at all. The huge reduction to Derby Marks for the weekly quest has completely shut down my motivation to even complete the quest at all.

Having enough to even purchase rewards would not happen until maybe even years down the line. Purchasing the Full Outfit for 500 marks would take 167 weeks almost 4 years, and that, is ridiculous.

This is incredibly frustrating.

I agree, this hotfix is garbage. I have no desire to do this on alts, so changing it because a small group of people whined about wanting to do it on their alts just hurts the rest of us that want to do this only once a week. If you’re still insistent on making it repeatable, then it should be 25 on the first toon, 3 on each subsequent toon. As it was, I thought the quest reward should’ve been higher based on the costs of everything, especially the scuba suit. This is such a disappointing change. If it stays like this, it’ll take me years to get all the stuff. I really don’t want to be grinding this out for years.

So what did the community exploit now that we have to go “fun detected” and act like what we were doing was likely not intended?

Whatever they changed should be reverted but it’s always the communities fault when bad changes like this happen.

Pretty sure this wasn’t a fun detected moment, it was intended to be 25x for the first completion and then repeatable for 3x on alts.

So it was instead a, “fix what isn’t broken and keep fixing it until it is broken.” Exactly like deserter debuffs and timewalking.

Yea… I will not be wasting my time with it. Even the 25 I felt was low considering how many you need to get everything.

They are really making it hard to enjoy this expansion.

I’m ending the day more confused than how I started it.

Honestly when they started talking about warbands I had a bad feeling.
I think I would rather not have warbands at all than to have them design everything around warbands like this. because overall it’s going to mean more time spent for less reward.

Look at the weekly quest in Dorn. You can’t even get a veteran piece of gear on every alt anymore.

for some things they clearly are listening but for other things the question becomes who are they listening to? There have been numerous changes, like this one, to war within that have been terrible and designed to turn the game into an extremely bad grind while other limits have been designed to make you unable to grind. such as coffer pieces being non existent outside of radiant echos in order to limit your gear grind to try to force you to partake in M+.

The design direction is both for you too grind and for them to not let you grind, and its a very bad inconsistency. They nerfed everything class wise and now they are slowly buffing everything class wise after nerfing everything. I just want to know who exactly are they listening to that is telling them to make everything less fun and more grindy while not allowing you to actually grind anything.

Warbands were a great idea but if its going to be designed into a requirement in order to just enjoy playing because of timegates its going to turn people off. They were supposed to remove the needless grinding rep on every alt and but instead they seem to be, like with this change, going in the direction of forcing you to run alts.

It makes zero sense

Not sure if it’s just me, but if you abandon the quest and try pick it up again you dont get buff when you pick up the quest a second time.

Worked fine last week.

they broke it now also. if you abandoned or fail the quest your done. You cannt get the buff a second time even if you retake the quest. Before you could try again.
So now its a double nerf. you get 1 chance per week if you fail or whatever. your done!

oh good it wasnt just me.

Yeah this stuff needs to get fixed before next week.

and all this because you could get a few extra tokens to buy a respie or some trasmogs. There not any gear on that vender that isnt for fishing.

Do yourself a favor and skip it

Even before the hotfix, getting all the vendor items was probably the longest grind in TWW. Why would they nerf it???

My guess is the quest is flagged wrong and is supposed to reward the old amount normally then 3 for each alt after and it hasn’t been fixed yet

“Completionists, Harry. We have to go after the completionists! They need to play, week after week, and make just enough progress to keep them hooked! Best of all, Harry… It’s Fishing completionists! Hooked! Get it?! Haw haw!”

This change to the Derby seems really contrary to the Warbands philosophy. They talked up warbands as a thing where you wouldn’t have to grind over and over on a bunch of alts. Well, now they’ve changed the derby so that you do have to grind on lots of alts. Inconsistent and a TERRIBLE change. :frowning:

Just another addition to the wave here.

It makes no sense. I cannot fathom why anyone would want to run it more than once per week, anyway (and I love fishing more than the average player).

Thank goodness I got my Ghoulfish Delight recipe before they made this change.

The only rationale I could think of for this change is that they know very few people will desire to do the derby on more than one toon per week, and the only thing on the vendor they might be trying to slow roll is the threads.

But why? It’s still going to take all of us a very long time to farm 100 of each.

It makes no sense, and nonsense should be corrected.

While it says it can be completed on multiple characters, I was not able to get the derby buff or able to complete the quest on an alt. So I basically did an hour of fishing for like 15 derby marks instead of the usual 40-44.
Even before, it would have taken about 56 weeks to get 2500 derby marks. Now it’ll take 125-114 weeks to get 2500 marks. Absolute trash, nothing should ever take that long.
