We’ve reached an important point in Classic now, with Wrath of the Lich King being the last great expansion that Classic fans wanted. It was at this point that the game began going downhill with a simplification of talent points, and the dumbing down of game mechanics, aided by heirlooms. Simply put, the game started getting too easy, and not as creative.
I suggest that going forward, we keep Wrath talent trees and spells as they’re currently balanced. Adding the new spells is okay, but please do not remove the current talents and abilities. This was a huge contributor to the decline of WoW.
Additionally, though I would remove heirlooms, I know a number of fans like them, so that’s fine, keep them, but make dungeons more about teamwork rather than mindless spamming where tanks can gather up heaps of mobs and we just AoE them down. We should get to use our traps, and other crowd control spells to win with strategy as well as force.
Added Content: The chance to get legendary items the original way, such as the long awaited Purified Ashbringer! Fans were aching to get this weapon for quite some time, let’s do it the PROPER way! With a solid raid or lengthy quest. Allow us to revisit old content in an updated way.
Unlockable Races: Allow us unlock races such as Forest Trolls, Zul’Drak Trolls, High Elves, Dark Irons, Mag’har Orcs, and so on.
Classic andys are not the only people that play the game.
Changes you’re proposing could be a great for Wrath+
I certainly hopeyour wishes come true. But I’m excited to play Cataclysm. So is everyone in my guild. We only have a few people quitting WoW. All of it. For good. Regardless of what comes next.
P.S. I find Cata talent trees to be superior to Wrath. All they did was remove useless clutter talents, such as 1% crit chance. New talent trees actually focus on enhancing abilities.
Wrath + has the virtue of keeping the current and completely superior talent charts, but has the flaw of no more adventures and stories. There’s no point in that. I want to play Cata too, but I want to play it with better talents and new possibilities to make the game better going forward, not dumber.
The talent trees in Cata were dumbed down and virtually no one liked them. As recall, it was one of the most complained about subjects back in the day. Cata was great in terms of story, but it needs a better sense of adventure with classic leveling and NO realm crossing.
I don’t think they’re going to do a + sort of thing.
What I see them doing is a Cata Classic, which is great for those who also want MoP Classic, with the changes that Blizzard wants to make (MAYBE talent trees but mostly centered around numeric changes and math because they LOVE theory-crafting over all else).
Then I also highly suspect them of launching a Fresh Classic release possibly going through all expansions again. Probably some weeks after ICC.
MAYBE Wrath Era and I hope so for those who love Wrath, but with what they did with TBCC probably not.
There are people that are extremely attached to their characters and gear. They’d get pissed if this just ended.
Oh and saying “Andy” is just derogatory streamer slang and really only shows where that persons vocabulary comes from.
That’d me. I’m posting that as I’m on my 200+ Anzu run and currently in a work meeting.
SOM2 or Era2 is definitely coming back. I have zero doubt about that.
As for Wrath, I’d imagine cloning will happen, as it did back in TBCC. But, frankly, I’d expect it to be equally dead as Era was until very very recently.
…or it won’t be dead. And perhaps Wrath Era will strive. Either way, I want everyone to get what they want.
it gets to a point where there are simply too many talents to go through then, for Cata we’d get another 5 points while leveling up so what’s the plan, add 5 new talent slots that did not exist in original cata? and we’d do that for MoP and any further expansions that get added?
you mean like the way Cata, MoP and WoD already do? Cata has 2 legendaries, 1 for casters and 1 for rogues, each involves a lengthy quest chain centered around the Firelands and Dragon Soul raids. MoP has the legendary capes for everyone that is centered around an expansion wide quest line, and WoD does the same with a ring.
so you want the retail Allied Races feature then? also High Elves are already in the game, they are Blood Elves.
Well I don’t know what the vast marjority of people actually playing want. So for me… I wasn’t much of a fan of TBC. Wrath at least I played through it the first time. Although my group decided to start over and moved to a PvP server about two months before Cata pre patch. Had a great guild and played until work pulled me away.
I don’t have a dislike of Cata. MoP was hit and miss for me when WoD came I just left the game for a while. I came back for Legion and at first hated it then… it became my favorite time period of playing WoW. So for me that’s where I’d like to end up.
BFA was not for me. I missed and have no opinion on Shadowlands because I was never in it. Dragonflight… I’ve played some but too much turns me off.
It all depends and I have no idea what direction they will go. I think at some point they have to go with a “plus” type mentality. Yet progression servers seem more likely and personally I hate them. I’m always going to end up at a point where I don’t want to play. Which I guess is why I thought they might keep “Era” servers, but obviously not aka TBC.
I actually loved Shadowlands. It had issues with Lore and some gameplay mechanics, the biggest one being Covenant locks & restricted Ash farm for Legendaries, but other than that, Raid were amazing for most part. Dungeons & M+ was super good. Zones/Atmosphere was amazing too. Except for Bastion. Scrw Bastion.
I agree. I loved MoP, I just didn’t like the dumbed down talent trees. We can add to them, but not take away. Same with the spells, no one wants to lose the current abilities because this is when WoW was at its best.
Again, I don’t get your references at all, but the original talents required thought and there were special abilities that we lose in Cata. We shouldn’t. These abilities made the game better. It was never good to start taking away spells, because this lead to lazy recycling and a poorer game experience.
It’s fine to bring out the new expansions, just don’t erase our current abilities. Add to them like they should have in the first place. The new stories are fun, and I love Cata, Mists, and even Warlords of Draenor, minus the new models - but, taking away our abilities and recycling them was the wrong approach.
All I’m saying, is keep the current ability set and add new ones. This is when our talents and abilities were at their best. Add to them, don’t take away or recycle.
I’m primarily talking about the spells and abilities in the trees that were removed, but yes, I liked the additional stats as you leveled. I found it gave depth.
Look up Cataclysm talents. Look at talent trees calculators. Read the description of them. Most of them are the same as they are in Wrath. They literally just got rid of filler spells & added some new ones in.
Cata talents are all about enhancing your skills. Not passives.
Cata talents are closer to Wrath than Wrath talents are to Vanilla.
Problem is they arent interesting at all. Putting 5 points to get 5 hit rating will never be able to compete with finally getting kiljaedens cunning for instance. The classic talent trees just give the illusion of choice whereas the talents you could pick in later expansions were actually really fun
Not even close. I can tell you’re the type who doesn’t like to read through talents thoroughly, but I do, and so I understand them better. There was SO much removed and the restricted trees only dumbed down the game. It was garbage.
Agreed. That’s exactly why I wanted to have new adventures and unlocks from the past expansions. They can easily continue the old stories and add missing content that fans were looking forward to.
Like I was saying, add those new abilities, provided they don’t delete or recycle the current ones. Open trees for cross-specing between them added to the game, not the restrictive garbage that came out after.
And like I said before, thats why its great that there is Era is for classic only players. They can go play vanilla while the rest of us go on to cata and mop
