The Flight/Pathfinder compromise

Yes, we were robbed, because we spent plenty of gold to buy flying, and mounts, and the time spent to get mounts that aren’t purchasable.

Have you heard of “What a Long, Strange Trip it’s Been”?

Seeking “a bit of give” from the devs? Sounds like you’re willing to negotiate with terrorists.

Let them try it again; 3 million quit the last time, and I’m sure even more will go if they thought the devs haven’t learned their lesson.

It would be fun to watch a game die because the devs thought they “knew better” than the players.

And even then, there’s no way of counting how many did PF because they wanted to, versus the number who felt like there was a gun to their head.

I just completed PF for Warlords because I knew Christmas content was coming and I got real tired of riding a ground mount across the water and back to complete the Halloween content, and even though my main was already most of the way there before I started, it still took two weeks of idiotic rep grinding, and every single moment I spent blasting gray trash mobs twenty levels below me, I found myself fantasizing about…well, I can’t say, because I’d probably be suspended or banned.

Which is my whole point. They lock popular features and measurable power increases for your character not behind engaging content, but behind absolute garbage. They know people will do the engaging content, but nobody will touch their silly intern developers frogger game without being forced to do it.

Yes I have all of it done except the Children’s Week PvP garbage.

Did you actually play BC? You didn’t get handed flying at 58. You had to level through the whole world of those meandering passes and level to 70 for the privilege of buying flight in the last zone.

The real compromise is:

If you like flying, you should be able to buy it after hitting max level, or maybe after the first content patch. No strings attached.

If you don’t like flying, you can continue to enjoy the game from the ground by not learning flying. Or play wow classic where there is no flying.

No flying going forward isn’t an option. Flying mount sales alone should tell you no flying isn’t a viable business decision. They’re forced to keep it in the game but the dev’s hatred of flying is very clear with the spiteful time gate attached to it.

Anything they choose to do is an option. I’m just amazed that with Shadowlands being the fourth xpac with Pathfinder people still waste energy crying over it.

The devs wanted to remove it going forward. Why didn’t they? Oh that’s right they couldn’t. It wouldn’t be a viable business decision.

I’m not even getting SL. I’ve jumped ship to an MMO that actually respects its players.

Wish you luck.

I have had one foot out the door since WoD beta because I saw that this dev team lacks leadership, communication and innovation with all they did in WoD beta. My instincts were right and my investment in another MMORPG has paid off because a smaller team does more improvement and QoL things than the WoW team which supposedly doubled in size since WoD.

I’m not sure you’re being nearly dramatic enough. Maybe compare Blizzard to Hitler in your next reply. Thanks.

I agree with your compromise but would add 1 more thing .

Explorer only because you are going to do it on the way to Loremaster and Max Level.

No he wouldn’t restore flying .

If so he would of told Ion ( Hey we are changing how PF works , we are going to make it easier and each part opens flying for the zones that part is for ) or gotten rid of PF for Shadowlands.

He is Ion’s boss after all in fact everyone at Blizz works for J Allen

Never know as things can change as he led the charge for Cata world revamp which included making flying possible.

If BFA and patch 8.3 tanks rapidly and they can’t find a solution to patchfinder and level squish in shadowlands things can change. Stay tuned.

The devs at blizzcon stated they don’t even know how patchfinder will work because of the four new zones being four separate maps and players will be tied to one convenant at level cap.

I most definitely did play through BC, and I absolutely hated all those mountains and assorted annoying obstacles, which is why obtaining flight at max level did indeed make all the dailies actually palatable…until Money Island, when we went back to being stuck on the ground, which once again absolutely sucked.

Obtaining flight at max level was the best “eff you!” to all the ground clutter that made leveling such a chore, but now the neckbeards think that’s not enough. Our suffering must continue, because the zealots apparently enjoy our pain, proving they are indeed sociopaths.

Thank you for confirming flying is a convenience, not a necessity and not integral to the game.

They lack leadership and vision for the game which is why we are seeing the same derivatives of game design formula with from WoD, then Legion and then BFA.

At least when the game was copying off of Burning Crusades success they still added to the game worthwhile things.

Flying is the crown jewel of this game along with classes and a fast combat system, and what used to be the best gearing system in all of the MMORPG industry. Right now all three crown jewels have been tossed in the trash to pursue rentals, forced GCD, pruning, or heavy time gating. Sad.

The game itself is a convenience and not a necessity.

People find flying in game to be fun and they want that added layer of fun added to their fun (the game) .

Just think of flying as the cherry on top of the sundae.

Blizzard: “Great news, everyone! Since the removal of flight has been met with such praise, we’ve gone ahead and tied the use of ground mounts to pathfinder as well. According to ‘Cutecumber’, mount-based travel is a convenience, not a necessity, and thus is not integral to the game.”

While we’re at it, maybe we should remove leashing so that all the mobs we pull between A and B will need to be killed. Wouldn’t want players to miss out on all that juicy content!

Because flying over everything at 310% speed where you can bypass every object on the ground and mountains is totally comparable to a 100% ground mount.
