Pathfinder is the compromise. The devs almost removed flying completely.
Removing flying isnât even an option. Theyâd have to stop selling flying mounts in the shop and LOL if you think theyâll take that hit.
They just make flying such a pain to get and to the point itâs not useful to current content. Forget that. Iâm done with wow.
Who literally cares? Are you trying to force other players to play the way you want them to?
And folks wonder why I call the anti-flying zealots Al Qaeda, or Puritans, or Taliban.
And everyone threatened to quit. They lost 3 million subs in just two weeks, and many more will follow if they actually ban flying.
Folks who donât like flying can go play Classic.
In this case, I think itâs exactly what Blizzard is intending. They are forcing you to do the storyline content on foot so you canât easily circumvent encounters. As for who cares, I suppose Blizzard does.
Yep. In BC the Skettis and Ogriâla areas were very unfriendly toward people who werenât careful flying around.
There are demon AA cannons around the legion camps near Ogriâla and they would shoot you off your mounts if you stood still.
And in Skettis the trees were populated by bird mobs that would aggro you and daze you off your flying mounts if you didnât pay attention.
They were the big source of drama on the forums back in those days, and theyâve since been nerfed to not knock you off your flying mounts.
I might be wrong about blizzard. Maybe putting the blame on players is more accurate.
A compromise is an agreement reached by two parties. Pathfinder was dictated by Blizzard and there was no compromise.
And it took 3 million players quitting to get Blizz just to realize maybe removing flight entirely wasnât a good idea. Too bad players started to come back when the âcompromiseâ was announced.
Obviously that would be nice but the current team likes mobas, and mobile games so they donât design WoW like a MMORPG. That is why mission tables exist.
Canât wait to see how well the anti-flying mechanics in the ânew oldâ quest zones in 8.3 go down with the player base, thenâŚ
I suspected this was going to be the new normal once we got those annoyances in Mechagon, which surely were testing the playerbaseâs tolerance to the concept. Nobody complained, so⌠here comes Annoyances 2.0!
Not for me. I wish everybody the best of luck with 8.3 and beyond but Iâm not going to support the current direction of wow. These devs design the game around what can squeeze the most play time out of the players without a single consideration for fun.
And they arenât even remotely as good as the follower system in Warlords! That was actually fun, and there was so much variety, yet this system feels like it was slapped together by programmers who didnât want to do it but were told to, or else.
It can go either way. They are allow flying to arrive sooner for shadowlands but with restrictions or it is really opening up another front to attack flying out in the world. We will not know until shadowlands is in beta for sure.
Because terrain defects and densely populated trashpacks are so immersive and integral to fun.

Blizzards reaction to players not having fun properly
Oh, wait. . .
I personally like Pathfinder. I have a problem with the year-long time-gate but otherwise I think itâs a good system. But it doesnât really make /sense/ from a lore/RP perspective. My mounts forgot how to fly, what? Being shot down immediately until one earns the right to fly seems more plausible.
That said, Iâm still, overall, a fan of Pathfinder. Iâm just anti-yearlongtimegate.
I donât want a compromise. I want pathfinder removed or flying removed.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the pre wod system.
iâm wondering how shadowlands will go with new players unwilling to do xpacks after mists do to not being able to fly.
I would prefer to be able to fly as soon as my alts can use a mount.
HOWEVER, even if the devs decide to use the revised leveling experience to wean players off flying (by not unlocking it until they hit 50, at which point theyâll move on to no-flying in current content), I will still not level in any expansion past MoP simply because no flying came with a very clear change in terrain design. I would rather be on the ground in zones that arenât composed of endless trash mobs, windy roads that go halfway round the map before finally meandering to their destination, and tightly packed cliffs and trees that block visibility.
I donât want a compromise. I want pathfinder removed or flying removed.
Thatâs not a good ultimatum to give a dev team that would be delighted to remove flying.
