The Eternal Traveler

To voice my frustration to Blizzard over their horrible quest? I was going to write it in the sky with an airplane over their HQ but this was cheaper.

Then they should say that on the pre-purchase. Itā€™s no where on it.

Which opens them up to all sorts of liability for false advertising, especially since they deny refunds for pre-purchases all the time.

uhhh thatā€™s not false advertising.

they donā€™t have to disclose a drop % in order to add a drop to the game. if itā€™s a low % iā€™m sure itā€™s intendedā€¦

and if not iā€™m gonna pursue false advertising if i donā€™t get my darn garrosh belt tomorrowā€¦iā€™ve been chasing it since summer and it still hasnā€™t droppedā€¦they obviously should have put in fine print that it was going to be a super rare drop in the MoP expansion descriptionā€¦:woman_shrugging:

The text states itā€™s a quest, but the image used to advertise the editions includes the vestments transmog.

Unfortunately for Blizzard, that does indeed make it easy for a False Advertisement case in court.

The image excludes any form of representation of the Hearthstone as well, so you canā€™t even state they were just including everything that the editions include.

EDIT: Now, Iā€™m not saying anyone would actually DO anything about this, Iā€™m just saying itā€™s possible, and anyone in Blizzardā€™s Legal Department would be well aware of this. Anyone with half a brain wouldnā€™t be dumb enough to actually try anything though.

Fact of the matter is, the vestments are advertised as being part of the Rare and Epic Editions, and are gated behind a questline with a ridiculously low drop rate that some people have spent 12+ hours doing nothing but kill things on and still arenā€™t done.

Okay. They wanted it to be low: can you think of a good reason why that is? The purpose of pre-order rewards is to incentivize purchase and in this case when Blizzard is designing a new expansion based at least in part in the idea of putting aside the outrageous RNG elements of BFA that so many people overwhelmingly complained about, donā€™t you think that an RNG quest where people are forced into a soulless grind for a transmog set that was already gated behind 60-80 dollars looks kind of bad? They could have made it a contextually relevant quest, used it as a way to give players a bit of insight into the lore of the next expansion, tie the outfit to something fun. Instead they just chose to make you farm 40 nothings for a nameless stranger who provides you with no real incentive to do so.

If Blizz wants to convince people that theyā€™re distancing themselves from RNG, maybe an RNG quest to access a pre-order reward isnā€™t the best way to go about that, donā€™t ya think?

OP is right though.

The quest in itā€™s current state is dumb and meaninglessly timegates something that you choose to pay real money for.

Iā€™m jealous of the people saying they got 5-6 for their first kill.

This character got 4 and my pally got 3, one ungrouped and one in a big farming group

I bought the epic package because there was no image of what wraithchill looked like ANYWHERE when it was released. I looked at the images on the webpage and when you look at the images there is no GIANT ASTRIX over the nerd in the dress stating ā€œYou will have to griind your a~~ off for 4 hours to get thisā€ So honestly unless they are going to add that astrix to the picture then they will have lots of people like me that just bought it off the picture alone.

By the way you can apply wraithchill to illidanā€™s glaives and thunderffury and it looks nuts, highly recommend the epic package if you like ice as much as I do in transmog. They need to change their advertising to reflect what YOU ARE ACTUALLY GETTING including a picture of wraithchill, and an astrix on the nerd in a dress. There is value there but OBVIOUSLY people are going to be p$$ off if you put a row of flaming hoops to jump through after you take money from them.

Wraithchill is on the image, actually, lol.

The staff the character is wielding is Velenā€™s staff. Itā€™s bright purple and pink. :stuck_out_tongue: Notice what color it is in the image?

They really should have like ā€œBEFORE -> AFTER!ā€ though. Cause people who donā€™t pay attention to Velenā€™s Staff donā€™t really know.

But yea, a LOT of people buy things based on the image. I didnā€™t even know the transmog was via a quest for a long time. Let alone a GRINDING quest that took hours/days.

Whoever thought that up at Blizzard needs to be reprimanded.

Honestly when I first saw it I thought it was actually an HD recolored version of Velenā€™s staff, lol. Took me a little bit to realize it was actually an enchantment. A really, really cool-looking enchantment, donā€™t get me wrong. They could definitely do with a few more gallery pics though.

Yea, it took me a while to figure out it was the illusion turning peopleā€™s weapons that color, then I was like, ā€œThatā€™s a neat freaking illusion!ā€

Then I was like, ā€œDamn, too bad I dont have matching armor!ā€ Haha.

I like how people think Blizzard hasnā€™t covered their butts regarding this. Armchair lawyers are always good for a laugh.

Me too, I thought this was just the chosen weapon of the traveler and it doesnt show the swirl of frozen wind that wraithchill gives off either so they are doing themselves a disservice to show it off like that when they could show illidanā€™s glaives and make it really really clear just how cool and dramatic the effect is.

Also I just realized, they included the Wraithchill Staff in the $60 Image even though itā€™s only in the $80 Edition. Lol.

Yeah. They actually fixed that on the Shadowlands site, but they should really make that distinction everywhere.

Who spends 80 dollars for ugly fake clothing?

Did you seriously pay $80 just for a transmog?

You get the quest for the transmog with the $60 version - the mount gives a quest it says.

$80 version has a month game time, 120 boost, a companion pet, cosmetic weapon illusion and a new hearthstone.

OP didnā€™t read the product descriptions very well - couldā€™ve saved $20. Nowhere does it say that you get everything instantly.

Pretty lame thread QQing about cosmetic crap.
