The dungeons in War Within are terrible

I actually really like this batch of dungeons. So far my least favorite one is Cinderbrew Meadery, but the concept is fun.

We’ll see if Mythic mechanics dramatically change the feel, but so far, a HUGE improvement over DF dungeons in my book.

Not looking forward to Siege of Boralus though.

I just turned 80 so I’ve not done these yet.

What is so bad about Dawnbreaker and the “candle one”?

I have to agree. They are mostly bad and that makes me sad

I disagree with them being bad, but, they are a sharp departure in their gimmick:

-The Dawnbreaker requires you to mount up and fly out a few times during the dungeon, in some cases between moving airships, and it can be challenging for people who dislike/can’t do skyriding well.

-The Darkflame Cleft has a section at the end where you have to push a cart with a candle on it. The candle will die out from time to time and someone has to run out and find a lit candle, and return it. It gets hectic. Then the last boss has a similar mechanic which requires the party to stand around a candle to not get a major debuff by sitting in the dark. The candle can be/has to be moved strategically and also relit regularly.

Okay, but name an expansion this isn’t true? Dungeon content is THE most perishable aspect of EVERY expansion. Even in the old days where they were essentially mandatory as a spring board into raiding, gear-wise, nobody ran them over and over again because it was fun. It was just necessary if you wanted to be raid-ready. I don’t honestly see TWW’s dungeons as being any more perishable than any previous expansion’s.

Change your game’s gamma settings. I have to do that in the one delve that’s basically pitch black. Or maybe use a shader that you can toggle on and off.

Ah ok – thanks for the update. At least I’ll be on the lookout for these mechanics when I get into the dungeon.

City of Threads is CoS v2. Playing this expansion largely solo, and I’m not a fan of M+ at all anyhow, so this won’t bother me much.

lol yeah… so many people just want “I press button, I get reward” type gameplay.
like seriously, go play a gatcha game or candy crush, you can get all your stimulus from there.

Seriously. It’s not great.

I do agree and understand any and all forms of hate towards the new dungeons. But i will say this. Respect the tank and actaully using interrupts will make the runs better. Sometimes i just sit and watch range mobs free cast. My kick is down… Mage? Warlock? Boomy? No…? No? Ok…

Dawnbreaker was the easiest 0 I’ve done honestly. I know there’s skill differences but it’s really not that bad. The hps check is nowhere as high as some others and if you ping the locations it’s gg. Opinions are subjective but I like these dungeons.

Agreed about Dawn breaker but the rest of the mechanics were probably put in place to prevent ppl “flying” through the dungeon content. Every other mechanic you complained about requires the group to somewhat strategize in the approach in how to take down a Boss

Dawnbreaker is a disaster. So many times the floor on the ships don’t work and I just fall through them. The mini bosses on the 2nd boss are no where to be found. Randomly dying to the third boss in flight. The instance just needs to be closed until they can fix it. Or better yet, just scrap it all together.

They are marked on the map.

You’re not grabbing the orbs that’s why.

And constant stuns, and knockback crud. Big difference between difficulty, and just making things annoying, or tedious and the devs have mastered the latter lol. As soon as I finish getting the characters I have played for years to 80 I will be going back to other games for a while, and maybe comeback when older dungeon weeks(tw’s) are active. I don’t plan on repeating any of the dungeons in this expansion after getting the initial achievements the first time. Been seeing the so, and so has left the group as soon as you enter a dungeon in this expansion more than any of the previous expansions we have had over the years  In other news, a new LOTR movie, and games slated 2026 :slightly_smiling_face:

TWW in general is terrible. The dungeons are the worst in the history of the game by far. The flying mount dungeon? Garbage. The dungeon where you have to run around a town and find people? Even worse.

The zones? They’re ok, nothing bad nothing good. The story? Who cares, it’s worse than filler anime.

I honestly think something is going on with the suppression of criticism for TWW because there is no way people are actually into this thing. How is Shadowlands and Dragonflight bad but TWW is “I’m having a blast ya’ll”. Maybe nobody is really playing it which is why there is basically zero discussion about it outside of these forums and the reddit which are both heavily moderated to be super positive about this corporate slop product.

How can I Google “WoW TWW sucks” and get literally nothing? How is that possible when it’s this bad? This expansion is the worst they’ve ever released.

Read that somewhere the other day. Pete Jackson producing it. The Search, or hunt for Gollum. Searching for his ashes or something? Little freak died in the lava at Mt Doom lol. New games idk. I just want reboots/remasters of the rts games from back around 20 years ago.

I found the Dragonflight dungeons much worse and to this day I can’t stand any of them. Except the centaur dungeon is fine.
