The dungeons in War Within are terrible

I have no idea what happened here, but almost every single dungeon sucks. They all have extremely annoying mechanics and gimmicks that make me never want to do them again.

Dawnbreaker: We don’t even need to talk about this disaster.
Darkflame Cleft: Way too many ranged mobs, too many adds, annoying candle mechanic, final boss probably the worst boss in the entire expansion.
Stonevault: Trash spams fear, bosses have way too much movement required.
Priory: Unreasonably long way to the first boss with way too many adds, weird one-shot mechanics and unclear routes that will be a nightmare in M+ when tanks just pull the first boss without killing the minibosses, expecting the healer to handle it.
Ara-Kara: Again, way too many small adds and ranged mobs. After the bridge mobs just keep coming out of nowhere. Trash before final boss spams roots.
City of Threads: Finding the 4 spies is a gigantic waste of time, as you’re just running around for 3-5 minutes without anything happening in between the mobs. Trash before third boss spams knockbacks.
Cinderbrew Meadery: Way, way, way, way too much trash and way too many adds spawning in. Feels like mobs just randomly appear out of nowhere throughout the entire dungeon.
The Rookery: Actually the only dungeon that does not have annoying mechanics. Good job.

So yeah, as you can tell I’m not a fan of pretty much every dungeon in this expansion. The most noticable issue is that there seem to be countless enemies in each dungeon that have some kind of ‘spawn more adds’ mechanics, either infight or after they die. I’ve also noticed this in the open world. Can you please just stop implementing these? It’s annoying as hell.

Overall, I’m really not looking forward to M+. These dungeons are straight up not fun.

I agree with most of your points. People are in the honeymoon phase with these dungeons right now but check back in on their feelings in a month or so.

They aren’t going to hold up even as well as the DF dungeons did.

I can’t even with how much whining this is.

Sounds like you just want every dungeon to be a Press W simulator.

The only one that sucks is Dawnbreaker.

What do you call skyriding in a dungeon or walking to find the spies (again)?

I guess with skyriding you don’t even have to press W?

I have never wiped as many times in a heroic as i have in stonevault in that one hall because tanks dont understand their limitations and how many stuns and fears get thrown out.

There are way too many annoyance mechanics, agreed.

Threads is annoying, but once you learn the 4 (3 after the first one really) are basically in the same relative places. Get close to where they usually are and follow the images its not a problem. Boring snooze because it breaks the flow of an otherwise fun dungeon though

The only one that is a real issue for me is darkflame. Candle mechanic is awful. Darkness sections literally stress out my old eyes. Good luck being a caster in the cart section. It’ll be a joy for healers on the last boss to heal and move the candle and go get the light and bring it back. It’s just not fun and I’m not looking forward to increased difficulty at all for this one.

I imagine the over abundance of trash mobs is Blizzard’s way of compensating for most of the dungeons only having 3 bosses.

While the zones are great (if only four), the dungeons really suffered this expac. I can’t imagine them being very fun in M+.

Biggest disappoint for me is Priory, which imo should’ve been a Scarlet Monastery successor. But it ends up feeling like a budget scenario instead.

The only one they seemed to put actual effort in was Darkflame, and yeah it’s clunky but I appreciate trying something new.

People get one shot in heroics? How? What mechanic is not telegraphed but powerful enough to one shot? Maybe I just haven’t done enough of them.

I don’t understand the hate for Dawnbreaker apart from it involves dragon riding. Which I guess is just automatically bad. It does have some bugs though that should be resolved before M+ drops.

Threads: Agreed, this hide and seek thing is silly. They should make it so each party member could technically track down a spy on their own so we can sort of split up. Give us a special skill button to “mark” it on the map for our party.

CLeft: Yeah, that candle/cart thing is annoying as heck. It’s a cool idea but in practicality it is very clunky.

Priory: In the first few days, I am sure tanks will learn not to try and triple buff pull the first boss. Eventually, with gear, we will WANT tanks to pull the boss. It’s nice to have the option.

Been doing these dungeons for months now and I still like them for the most part. There are in some cases too many adds and I agree with the adds spawning from other adds complaint, but it probably isn’t too big of a deal.

The biggest issue most might have is there doesn’t seem to be any ultra efficient skip paths in most of these.

I absolutely disagree 100%, 110% if I could.

I adore all of the dungeons in this expac, I do not dislike a single one or have one that I “hate”. I love that they’re all shortened, AoE spam fests with chaos everywhere - it’s very fun.

What I do dislike are the old ones coming back for the new M+ Season. I hate Necrotic Wake and I hate Tirna Scithe, both horrible, terrible dungeons that should’ve been deleted forever.

What movement requirements? First 2 bosses are nearly stationary, 3rd you move to one of four spots every 40 seconds or so, and the last boss the movement is so segmented / slow…

I’m so confused by half of these complaints.

I’m just not doing it. Lol.

I’ll be playing much less during WW.

Yeah I’m really worried about some of these dungeons in M+. Especially Cinderbrew. That garbage is just going to be horrible. 10000 trash mobs around every corner including right next to bosses.

i agree, most of these dungeons stink.

it will be faster to list the dungeons i like.
Ara-kara
Cinderbrew
Rookery
Stonevault

S1 dungeon pool doesnt get any better.

“The boss didn’t explode in 1 shot… must be bugged. Go back to dungeoneering school you dungeoneering bozos!”

Seriously though I can’t seem to get the hang of The Dawnbreaker where you fly down to the ground. I never seem to be able to find the spots to go and am flying so fast that it is difficult to use the map to orient.

even with early access, none of these dungeons have been out for so much as 1 month yet.
you mean weeks?

Cinderbrew is also tuned inordinately poorly. All of the intro trash hits the tank as hard as the Paladins in Priory. I’m just waiting until Tuesday to watch both of these dungeons lay tanks flat with basically no control over it.

You can use basic flying in the dungeon. Makes it easier to find the Lt’s imo. Though now adays we usually just jump on the boss. That dmg buff he gets isnt to bad.
