Looking at Warcraft III, it turns out the Night Elves had reason to act various times between the War of the Shifting Sands and the Third War:
Furion Stormrage: It has been a thousand years since I last looked upon you, Tyrande. I thought of you every moment I roamed through the Emerald Dream. Tyrande Whisperwind: My heart rejoices to see you again, Furion. But I would not have awakened you unless the need was urgent.
So the Night Elves had reason to wake Malfurion just one thousand years before the Third War. And then the next mission mentions another time stamp as well:
Furion Stormrage:These Barrow Deeps have remained untouched for nearly three thousand years. Still, there is no telling what creatures may have taken up residence after we sealed these tunnels shut. Tyrande Whisperwind:There is nothing to fear in this place. The only enemy that has ever given me pause is now corrupting the lands above us. Let us be done with this business and get back to the surface.
So most simply, much like Liadrin, we donât know what the Night Elves were up to those thousands of years, so we canât actually say that they didnât do anything.
Liadrinâs statement about her people was said in the same sentence as her statement of the Night Elves:
Lady Liadrin says: The sinâdorei are also scorned by Tyrande and her prideful lot. Yet for many ages her people slept in dens or hid in trees while my people fought to save this world.
As people are pointing out, the people of QuelâThalas were negligent when it came to the First War and the Second War, so if your assessment is her statement is of the Night Elves not participating in those, then it still makes her a liar, as Liadrinâs own people were content to stay in their own lands and not help until the danger came to them.
Is there evidence that they knew about the Orcâs arrival and even if they did, who immediately knew that the orcsv and the legion were connected? Surely not during the first war. Why should they care about war half a world away that by all appearances has nothing to do with them?
And they would have gladly left the humans on there own permanently had they not needed their help during the Troll Wars.
To note, I suspect Dreadmoore has stopped responding to my posts after realizing his die-on-a-hill rambling strategy he uses to beat around the bush until people get tired of responding to him doesnât work on me.
Well, to be fair, the orcs in WC1 were summoning demons and apparently rambled about âhellâ a lot. Though im not sure how the night elves would know about it, unless they had spies in the eastern kingdoms.
The demons were already in Ashenvale and tainting the forests by the time Tyrande noticed them in Warcraft III. Archimonde literally reveals himself to her shortly after she sensed them there.
She led an entire faction of Sentinels and was Tyrandes Right hand woman she canât explore the continent of Kalimdor or the World willy nilly and involve herself with random races wars with that level of responsibility.
And while it is true that she worked with the Unseen Path in Quelâthalas against the trolls that was only one war where they went elsewhere. The only other wars the unseen path took part in until Legion was the War of Shifting Sands, and when the gates of Ahnâqiraj opened in Classic. And that was just them helping hunters get better equipment.
So she couldnât get involved in many wars unless the Kaldorei had them.
