The day Classic + turned into retail -

Perhaps you don’t know, but Classic Era servers exist. They seem to offer exactly what you want.

Maybe you dont understand, but sod is suppose to be classic with changes.

If you make it retail light it will only be played by people bored of retail then just die again when a retail expansion comes out. So instead of making classic plus like retail it should focus on stsying as a different game. Which is also what the devs want as they have suggested they want to keep it seperate design wise.

When old school runescape makes new content they also make sure it alligns with the old achool fundementals for this reason

Right and era is the #nochanges version of classic.

SoD is not #nochanges, they were super clear about that.

Do you recognize the different between new content and changes but still keeping to the design philosophy of classic? The devs talk about this quite a bit in sod interviews. I reccomend watching some dev interviews if this is new to you.

Yes and you didn’t explain why the exp buff is a problem. The phases of SoD are being handled as mini expansions and they obviously want people playing the end of each phase since that’s where the meat of what they’re experimenting with is.

I think you’re fundamentally not understanding that SoD is a sandbox for them to test random things out in.

I thought I made it clear but I guess not, so here it is again

Bad faith much, answered your question and you once again miss read it. Ignored

Well, digging your head in the sand is certainly one way to avoid your problems I suppose. Not a very good one, but you know :person_shrugging:

And no, you in fact did not respond to my point, you continued to deflect with claims that I think raid logs are a good argument, and “but the person I originally responded to stopped posting!” And here I thought I found someone I could disagree with but still respect enough to carry an actual conversation or debate with. Oh well…

Sure, if the devs came out and told people hey we want you to get to max level asap and raid log so we can test out runes, professions and new loot then that would be fine.

Some people however see the design of ignoring the leveling experience and implementing lazy xp boosts instead of developing solutions to those issues like more quests maybe a mount earlier on. I personally think they have done a couple of cool things with leveling like the sleeping bag quests but other than that they could of done more. My issue is thry are ignoring a big part of classic and slapping a retail like boost over it rather than clever design

Is it? Or is that just your own personal opinion.

Yea go watch the blizzcon announcement or the interviews.

The majority of people will have at least 1 level 40 before the exp bonus hits. So it’s primarily targeted at alts.

And since we’re spending most of each phase at level cap it makes sense that’s where they’re targeting most of the new stuff. Complaining about the exp buff might make sense if they’d released 1-60 at launch but not in the context of SoD phases.

But…SoD is Classic with changes. Just not the changes you want.

Its not changes i want its changes that feel at home with classic and match the original design of classic. Quick leveling to max i would say doesnt match the original design of classic which is the leveling is the majority of the experience

Personally i want arena but i know it doesnt fit with classic so i know its not gonna be put in, the devs have said the same. Some people might wan transmog and mplus and it likely wont get added for the same reason

Except people 100% raced to level in era.

Meaning slow leveling wasn’t a design feature but just how things happened to play out in vanilla. A lot of the vanilla gameplay experience didn’t end up getting replicated in era.

100%? We dont have any data in era to support that, obviously hardcore players rushed it. People that go onto forums or fan sites i would be considered hardcore fans but it doesnt mean everybody no lifed leveling and hit max right away instead of in a month or 2. I didnt no life it, mine didnt even hit max.

/shrug at the end of the day the gameplay experience in era was vastly different than the vanilla experience despite being #nochanges because a lot of things people remembered about vanilla being so great were actually community driven not gameplay driven.

I bet you liked SoM.

I was busy enjoying retail.

don’t you think that might have a negative impact on legitimate gameplay? gold being close to worthless? :expressionless:
