I’m guessing minimizing player attrition is the top priority right now
yup, SoD is gushing subs
hush now. you know I’m right, about everything
Because people want to try everything in this time limited environment?
I’d agree with you if this was a permanent game, but it’s not… so I don’t see any issues with helping alts to level faster.
Every main didn’t have any xp boost or a cheap mount.
Also, you have not played retail in how long to think this is remotely close to anything in retail exactly?
The problem is that 100% exp boost may save a few players today, but in the medium / long term it will cause greater churn because the game becomes objectively worse.
Everybody who plays the game actively is already level 40, that buff is strictly for alts and people catching up.
Who now have their journeys turned from a good leveling experience into a trashcan grind.
It devalues the mains since any alt can catchup real fast.
It also helps bots level up and farm gold faster.
The “journey” is already a trashcan grind, and people who prefer it as a “good leveling experience” have the option to at any time turn it off at an innkeeper
Good, the concept of “main” is terrible, especially when the balance is as volatile as it has been, in the event someone’s character no longer fits what they desire it’s that much easier to switch to another. It also makes it far easier for smaller guilds to patch up rosters in the event someone can’t make raid night
An actually genuine good point, however there comes a point where we need to stop being scared to make any sort of change to the game out of fear of how it will impact the bots, and start…actually addressing the bots
No, you don’t speak for everyone. You only speak on how this affects you.
I only play the SoD forums, not the game anymore. Too much retail for me.
Oh get real the majority of people would have grinded dungeons regardless if there was no one questing or not.
People take the path of least resistance and that was dungeon grinding. There were ample places to do quests that weren’t over crowded with people like Desolace or Shimmering Flats.
Also let’s not fool ourselves people did a bunch of quests at level 25 because gold and they knew if they grinded to 40 guess what they’d be able to get more gold from max level quests. Hmm what else did they change? Oh the gold gain from quests that’s right.
Quit this BS of “DEY AWRE WOINING DA GAME BECUS EXP FAST BAD!”
This change was because of the player base get over yourself.

You have no way of knowing that at all, and you’re ignoring all the extenuating factors that would cause that, and attributing it solely to your assumption that players don’t like leveling in the world.
Hadn’t considered that moist players quested for gold in P1, perhaps?
Funny this thread is still going with people crying in the comments. Blizzard has already announced the changes. It’s happening. No need for further discussion.
It’s a hiphop version of WoW. Keep up or get outta the way
P1 was almost entirely in friendly zones, P2 is in contested zones. Most people prefer the steady and predictable xp/hour from spamming SM than having to do world quests and put up with ganks, corpse camps, and competition over quest objectives.
It is a pest, has been since the end of vanilla.
Its why warmode should have been added to SoD, but andys never want the game to be better.

I don’t think you’re qualified to decide what most people like.
Evidence to the contrary is that leveling zones were full.
Because the vast majority of new content is at max level. You want the “rewarding feeling” of affording your first mount? Classic era is available, have at it.
This isn’t Classic +, this is a beta for them to test things.
This is not what people wanted from a Classic +, they wanted Classic plus new stuff, not them trying to rework or remake the Classic game in a totally different way and pushing it towards retail which nobody wants.
This isn’t Classic +
‘Classic+’ means something different to every person you ask. That’s the problem.
I’m not unsympathetic to what you’re saying. I think you’d be hard pressed to find someone more committed to the authentic Vanilla design philosophy than I am. I’m all about authenticity. I hated what they did to TBC. I hated the changes they made to Wrath. I’ll hate the changes they make to Cata. I think all those initial servers should be as #nochanges as possible. And the eternal versions the same.
But when it comes to Seasonal servers set in those expansions…Blizz can go to town. Try whatever they want. I think that’s a fair compromise. They pretty much did that with original Classic, so I’ll cut them some slack in Seasonal Vanilla servers.
