The day Classic + turned into retail -

People are already grinding SM until their eyes bleed so they can raid log on one character. The exp buff entices people to start leveling alts

It got their game off the ground. People complain about population now, imagine if there weren’t a core of Classic players playing the new Classic season.

no proof, no story

People act as if this content isn’t gonna be here for 3+ months.

i dont need to convince anyone. the metrics show us the truth

I don’t think “your” cohort of “classiceers” are as big as you think.

For those of us who read the build up, which you say you didn’t, we knew there would be deviations from the standard formula and that those would easily distance this game from Era proper. The major hype for SoD was the new shiny things, not a fresh Era realm.

The game would be fine. This core of people you and others hand wave at doesn’t exist. At least not in a quantity to be population defining or breaking. Neither of us can factually prove this though, so it is best to leave this kind of conjecture out of discussions.

Not sure why the sweatys who what to min/max out (by leveling to 40 via SM runs) believe that they speak for the “majority of the players.” Just because they are loud does not mean they represent the majority.

Would be nice if only people that actually play sod can post on these sod forums. I have been seeing threads on mplus, wow store transmog , i honestly cant beleive it. I wouldnt be surprised if they are just online debators that dont even play sod.

My bet is sod will continue to add in more qol and as soon as the retail players get there fill and the new expac releases sod will die. Ideally sod and retail should stay as different games, 100% xp boost isnt the end of the world but if the goal was to get people leveling alts then i think it should only be implemented to people who already have a 40 using the supply vendor.

Just shows how retail came to be in thebfirst place. The devs will have to be quite strong on design desisions

Original classic had the advantage of being a brand new thing and also vanilla classic existed during a pandemic when people were indoors a lot more. It peaked at just over 450k players in 2020 where the same site (ironforge.pro) had WotLKC peak at over 570k in 2022.

Seems vanilla wasn’t the most popular classic version even when it had bigger advantages to pushing population higher. :man_shrugging:

Ironforge also had era at 20k just before SoD with WotLKC having near 400k before. Then SoD came out and we had a big dip in players across other versions as people from all WoW versions came to try SoD.

What are you even arguing?

That classic wow isnt popular and wotlk was more popular? Do you even play sod?

I swear half the people playing sod dont eve want to play classic and just want new retail content. You guys will ruin sod then leave it for the new expac.

Didn’t ask anything from a green parser from retail. Please withhold your opinion or link logs showing otherwise

People doubted my previous point that more players were coming to SoD from non-era and that those people were more inclined to like better QoL and faster leveling.

The recent changes are likely appreciated by more players than not.

Someone also suggested that vanilla classic was super popular, so I’m showing that it wasn’t really more popular than other classic versions.

Your proof that classic in 2019 wasnt popular was using itonforge raiding population data and comparing it to wotlk?

You realize ironforge data is completely off and only good for following trends not total numbers. Most people didnt raid in 2019 vanillia, so using it as a total and comparing raid numbers to wotlk is pointless. Most people dont play classic vanilla in 2019 to raid those ironforge numbers are for classic vanilla raiding.

I think original classic was decently popular but it wasn’t the most popular version and classic era is probably the least popular version of WoW available. When people have versions of wow other than vanilla to play, far more players play something else.

Vanilla wasn’t most people’s favorite version of the game.

People came to SoD for new things rather than because they really like vanilla aspects.

Can you now stop sharing fake news and saying 2019 wasnt popular because raid numbers are lower in classic than wotlk? Ironforge is raiding numbers not total players.

Classic was insainely popular just because raiding numbers didnt match wotlk doesnt mean it wasnt.

It is the ONLY version that is not a progressive server. Use your brain please.

Didn’t read any of this not a single word bc you didn’t post anything relevant to you knowing wtf you’re taking about just a noob.

Scrub and bad and opinion discarded

People came to SoD because they enjoy the baseline aspect and design philosophy of vanilla and was hoping for more content with vanilla design.
