Also just for math’s sake, and to prove you wrong, Sa, I did look at total parses over the last 2 weeks.
The total DPS parses for Gnomeregan over the last 2 weeks totaled to roughly 2.43million
The total DPS parses for Retail Amirdrassil across Normal, Heroic, and Mythic, as well as M+ over the last 2 weeks totaled to roughly 11.4million. This is not counting LFR because there wasnt a metric for that. Also, the disparity between the two would be greater if i included healer/tank logs as there are far more healer/tank classes on retail than SoD so there are alot more logs.
Whether or not you choose to believe there are a TON of retail players is up to you, but logs do not lie. Not to mention a LOT of retail players dont even do logged content (alot of people strictly PvP or collect cosmetics)
From multiple, MULTIPLE websites Modern’s daily unique user count ranges from 1.2 - 2.8 million. Classic sits around 800k-1.2 million. But thats across FOUR versions of the game. Era, Wrath, HC, and SOD. Soon to be 5 with HCSF.
I swear, you dont even read anything people say. I just said I went to warcraft logs and added up all the parses over the last 2 weeks. An actual data count submitted to WARCRAFT LOGS.
https:// sod .warcraftlogs .com/zone/statistics/2008
you have to remove the spaces since forums dont allow links
you add all these numbers up.
Now, to enlighten you even further, retail is on a WEEKLY lockout, while Gnomer is on a 2x a week lockout. Meaning there are twice as many parses per week from raids on SoD. This would mean that retail has roughly 10x more active parses a week than SoD. If SoD has roughly 200k active players, that would put retail at around 2million just based on raid/M+ logs, and that doesnt even count LFR, or PvP
“On Feb. 7, Blizzard Entertainment shared its quarterly reports. According to fourth-quarter financial reports from 2022, the company has managed to increase monthly active users by 14 million. In other words, the number of users increased from 31 million in the third quarter of 2022 to 42 million active monthly users.”
42 million active, unique users, over a month. And you think 130 million unique -characters- in modern is a stretch… yikes.
Like just admit you’re out of your depth on this one dude. Retail is more popular than you wanted to admit. Its ok.
(Edit before: “check the year.” Yeah, I know dude. But they didn’t lose 90% of their player base magically.)
Personally I dont like retail outside of getting AOTC / Keystone hero (2500 rating) every season and I usually quit after that, but I do see the value in it, alot of replayability and a LOT of people love running keys until their fingers bleed, and retail is alt friendly and “pretty” which is why alot of the girls I know favor it over the older versions.
He’s good at one version of the game when it was at it’s simplest and easiest form. Soon as he had to worry about mechanics or push more than 2 buttons he decided the game “sucked now”.
Exactly. In classic all the classes felt incomplete. I really feel like TBC and WOTLK added so much value to the immersion of each class, and made them feel complete. It’s why I love SOD so much, it retains that classic feel while giving the classes a feeling of “completion”
Vanilla WoW is what made WoW the most popular and when it peaked. SoD is constantly casualising content and becoming retail which is why the numbers have fallen off a cliff and the game is swiftly becoming a ghost town.
You don’t need to manually do anything ironforge pro gives statistics estimates for you and it is about 200k sod players that raid.
You realize this is for all their titles right, not only WoW.
They have a quote from retail in that:
In the Warcraft franchise, World of Warcraft delivered significant year-over-year growth in reach, engagement and net bookings in the fourth quarter following the September release of Wrath of the Lich King® Classic and the November launch of Dragonflight™. While early Dragonflight sales have not reached the level of the prior expansion, community feedback on the title has been positive. Blizzard has announced plans to deliver substantially more follow-on content for the expansion than in the past, and post-launch subscriber retention in the West is higher than recent expansions. Elsewhere in the Warcraft franchise, mobile title Warcraft: Arclight Rumble™ continues to progress well through regional testing.
So basically dragon flight has less sales than previous expansions who had about 5 million users. Also community feedback has shifted since then to more or less uncaring / negative about DF.
I even sent you a direct link you can copy paste to see the 2.5million gnomer DPS parses over the last 2 weeks. You want to argue with direct data? Are you really that stubborn? FACTS > your opinion, once again. I see why you still obsess over 2004 wow, you’re too braindead to handle anything else.
I don’t really care what happened in 2 weeks, why do 14 / 3 when I can just see the number from a site that has been trusted to show raid community size?
Gnomer has over 2.5million dps parses in the past 2 weeks, it is not “falling off a cliff or becoming a ghost town”. Every major city is still packed with players. BGs are still packed. Cope harder. Also, WOTLK is what made WoW the most popular actually, if you’re going based on numbers.
Because I use actual data, from a site that is intended to be used for data and is far more trusted. If you want to argue with data, then you can be wrong all day long. Data doesn’t lie. Copium inhaling vanilla purists do.
I never claimed SoD was not popular, I claimed there are about 200k raiders like ironforge pro does. With your 2.5 mil parse one would expect about 500k raiders.
So are you saying that you know better than the website that makes it its purpose to track population size?
Both you and ironforgepro get data from logs. So someone is doing a mistake if you are arriving at 2x their numbers.
14 days… 3 day lockout… could have easily been 6 runs. That’s 2.5m/6 = 416k characters. 2 char average per person (I’m running two already). Thats roughly 208k unique people, which is about what WCL is saying there are. Not not plausible.
LO1 D1 (Last day of 3 day lockout)
LO2 D2
LO3 D5
LO4 D8
LO5 D11
LO6 D14 (First fay of 3 day lockout)
You don’t think WoW is their main title?
And if you read further its attributed to the fact that Shadowlands (and Classic) released during Covid lockdowns so they sold more than they would have at other times. They also say that DF has kept subscribers much better than SL ever did. Not really a “gotcha” my dude.
Source.
Again, just admit retail is more popular than you’re trying to make it out to be. It’s really that simple. We’ve listed you 20 (exaggeration, but you get the point) different metrics and sites that all agree.
You must be playing a different game than most because the world is dead, lfg is dead, guilds have fallen, and people simply don’t play as much as they used to, active player numbers for SoD are falling rapidly.
It’s about subscribers which peaked thanks to vanilla WoW and has dwindled ever since.
