Except they complete homogenized it all, removed mana drains, every healer had some sort of aoe healing spell, mana didn’t matter anymore and e.t.c. The list of terrible changes goes on
Mana did matter if I recall for healers.
They literally added new spells to everyone’s kit, how is that homogenizing?
Should probably play Cata before commenting on it as you have here.
What survey? I didn’t get one. If you want a survey to be completely valid, send it to all active players. Select voices don’t represent all voices.
And things were also removed, as stated in my post
I have and it was terrible I’d rather not repeat it
It’s called a sample size. It is common and considered the correct way to survey a population.
Cata is by far the best QoL changes and adds much to do outside of raiding. Rivaled by MoP for content outside of the raid slog.
yep, so popular that sub numbers just kept dropping and dropping and dropping all throughout the expac
This is exactly whats going to happen. Now, i think BFA, Shadowlands, and Dragonflight are widely regard as bad. If they do surveys for all future expansions I expect the people to stop voicing positive opinions at BFA and Legion is a valid endgame stopping point for the game.
Future servers will continue to have twists like SoD. Next year might be a TBC style server etc etc. 2 years from now a Wrath SoD.
It will keep going as long as there is enough interest to warrant it.
They’re doing Cata because the community as a whole wants it. The few here who keep making sock puppets don’t represent the entire classic player base no matter how much they want to pretend they do.
There are a large variety of reasons for this. Not necessarily all in game related. People started having kids, graduating college, working functional adults. Other games came out that people went to play. People were getting bored. Everything was behind significant time gating. Phases are still not popular and drag on too long.
Because it didn’t? Cataclysm maintained a steady player base of 10 million subscribers. Yeah, that’s less than the 12 million that peaked during WOTLK, but no where near “most”.
The big drop everyone keeps trying to attribute Cataclysm didn’t happen until 2013, which happened smack dab in THE MIDDLE OF Mists of Pandaria, not at the beginning of it, but in the middle of it, which also belies the assertion a few vocal members of the community make about Pandas and Theme were the only reasons people didn’t like MoP.
Not just a sample, a representative sample. More than most companies blizzard has incredibly complete data to get a accurate representative sample of the player base. I’m sure you know this, I’m just adding it for the people who don’t understand how polling works
LOLOL They ran an out of game survey about in game content???HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH WHAT LITERAL MORONS!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Always happy to have more information added on. Thank you!
That’s not his problem though, because he’d still be complaining just as much even if there’d be a guaranteed Wrath-era realm.
How does a sample size tell you anything ?
Moreover when the survey was randomize and sent to peoples emails that probably didn’t even see it ?
You also have to factor that those that agreed to Cata in the survey may not be the way their releasing it.
I recall the survey talking about Talent and specs changes; We’re not getting that
So folks that may have agreed to the survey may have even been mislead.
And this isn’t against anyone that wants Cata but equally as much as you want Cata folks want to keep a Wrath Era realm too
Ok, that’s not how it happened. This is the most likely scenario as anyone who knows how polling is done these days knows. Blizzard likely doesn’t have anyone on staff to do polling. They farmed it out to a professional polling company. They looked at the different types of people who play classic games and looked at the numbers in each category. They didn’t randomize it because they have so much data they could create a representative sample. What percent play only classic? What percent play some of both retail and classic? What percent play mostly classic and a little retail? What percent play mostly retail and a little classic?
After creating that representative sample they picked people who fit their criterion. If most of classic players also play retail they sent out more surveys to classic players who also play retail etc. After getting the responses they again did a resort to match their representative sample. If some groups had a greater response rate they didn’t count all their replies. If other groups had a low response rate they’d use more of their replies. They fussed with the replies until they got a representative sample of replies that matched the actual proportion of the different groups playing classic.
An accurate representative sample is the best polling method and that’s what blizzard did because they have all the data to do that easily. Polling is a science and when done properly it’s incredibly accurate.
You’re not special because you liked an older version of the game.
