The benefits of RDF FAR outweigh any potential social deficits

That’s the only way to move the needle. I’m 100% confident that it’s not going to happen because honestly most of the people clamoring for RDF are people that play retail anyway.

I’ve done both. Talkative people generally engage because they find it pleasurable. Nothing is “forcing” them to. Which has always been my argument. It should be “doing x enhances your game experience” not “not doing x is detrimental to your game experience”.

I started in 2007 as well, and I agree that people talked more, but not every dungeon was full of conversation. Difference is, I remember it changing before RDF was added. By Wrath, people didn’t talk in dungeons all that much.

I’m not really arguing this. I think this is correct.

Lets split the difference and say an hour. That’s still better than now. At least for pre outland content.

Agreed. I don’t know that there is a perfect comparison to WoW. Most MMOs either focus on PvE or PvP. WoW is the first one that tried to do both at a high level. At least that I know of. However, that still means that other factors besides RDF have a negative effect on the community.

Now, here’s where I have the biggest bone to pick with the anti-RDF side. This doesn’t acknowledge:

  • The general change in internet culture since 2008
  • The general push for efficiency that’s become a part of gaming over the past decade
  • The fact that this is a re-release, and people want to “skip to the fun part”.
  • The fact that we’re all older now with less free time
  • The fact that socialization in gaming has declined in ALL games, not just this one
  • The fact that socialization on the internet was something new back then and it’s not now

Those are just things I though of off the top of my head. All those factors are, to me, way more impactful that RDF. RDF, gearscore, etc., are tools. Tools are not bad in and of themselves. It’s all about how people use the tools.

Finally, the biggest thing. Removing RDF didn’t solve the problem. Sure, I’d guess more people have joined guilds, which is good. But the community is just as bad as retail. Quite possibly worse if people are to be believed. The helpful community of people that were here in 2007 has not been recreated by removing RDF. All the unspoken rules that existed back then, things like MS>OS, don’t take nodes people are fighting mobs for, none of that has come back since RDF was removed. People love to blame systems for problems, instead of blaming themselves. It’s been three years. If it hasn’t come back yet, it’s not going to.

If there was a PvE private server with a decent sized population I’d probably be there honestly.

The community I play with is helpful.

Sounds like a you problem, brah.

The only reason I subscribed again was for Classic WotLK. I haven’t really played retail since Legion ruined the game even more than WoD did. I just didn’t expect Blizzard would remove a major feature that was in WotLK with no plans of ever implementing it later. I wanted to play the official WotLK so I’m here, but if it doesn’t feel authentic enough then I might as well play somewhere else.

I would’ve thought the idea of a compromise of RDF enabled and RDF disabled servers would’ve taken care of this situation. As for it splitting the community, we already have different servers for PvE, PvP, RP, and RP-PvP, and it isn’t like we have single shard for each of these types, and there are Classic and Classic WotLK servers, so that’s not a valid argument. I feel like that these excuses about not giving us RDF, or even compromising with something like different servers for it is just a cover for some other excuse that the devs don’t want to admit.

You shouldn’t even acknowledge the “you’re a retail player” argument. That’s one of their favorite talking point, and has been proven time and again to be BS.

yes that is correct i would choose this over this tool if i HAD to choose. if i did not i would not want either but i’m willing to consider both sides.

also corrected it for you.

Game is dying, right now people just raid log and even that is dying. Dungeon’s and leveling is dead af. RDF would help alts tremendously, oh well let’s just wait until P2 and see how many will come back. Let all the no changes people enjoy themselves on dead servers.

Sounds good see you then!

levelled my druid on the weekend mix of dungeons bg and questing got 80 did around the world today. soooo you do you i guess. bye

they are currently doing this right now. just on a bigger scale full expansion cycle. they did wrath and 15 years with RDF now they are trying to do it without it. and you are here pushing back against the exact thing you are arguing saying it will fix it none RDF server wotlk RDF servers retail.

as for doing it now as you stated you split the community which will work untill raid time then it will be " please add LFR we cant make 25 man groups" it would only be a matter of time thats when we get cata. omg all these 80’s i can’t get my resources player housing wod. then its omg someone ninja ed my x item on a random dungeon “individual loot please” mop omg i have everything im so bored please add something to make me play " artifact weapons" omg this games so easy lololo dunm blizzard. all players choices.

Slippery slop is my favorite kind of slop, thanks!

“Noooooo, how can blizzard possibly expect me to have fun if they don’t force everyone to have it the way I want it!” -every neckbeard against RDF ever

Imagine posting that unironically in a sea of people that are on your side telling everyone how the game should be.

I still, personally, would prefer a dungeon-tier exclusion approach to RDF. IE, current tier of dungeons being excluded from RDF.

I would prefer they add the retail level down system over rdf so i can go in and do a dungeon with my low level friends and ny stats squish down to be close to their level for the run and they dont lose any exp.

This actually encourages social interaction while also helping the leveling sceen.

Not saying they should do this, but it i had to chose, i would prefer this.

I did not know of this, but this sounds like a nice feature.

And again, If you watched they said Classic would NEVER HAPPEN. People said to stop asking to stop demanding, And again people kept on… and AGAIN… Here we are.

You can say whatever you want my friend, People say no all the time and change thier minds…

You have a phone don’t you…

No classic ever…

No RDF…

See a trend? Btw I have voted with my money. I came back for wrath and only for wrath.
Will I quit over no RDF? No, but I also will not stop asking or wanting it. Now once Wrath turns into cata classic or any other version I will vote yet again with my money and quit.

Now stop telling others what they can and can’t do or what they should or should not do, come off that horse. You have no clue about a whole range of things that is clear by your posting. This new age thought is cancer.

Half my ignore list is the “people” with those similar names of the same server. Coincidence, i think not…
