The Bard new class

I think Bard should be your new class. I’m already seeing alot more music put into the game and Bard would easily fit into the Lore of WoW. A Healer/DPS/Controller talent tree. Make them the buff king with their buffs playing music (option to mute of course). Its amazing how one hasn’t been put in as of yet.

It will be. It will be the tactic to create higher pre-sale orders for next expac; so they can continue to milk the playerbase for tokens.

That said, I wouldn’t say no to it since some people would like the class and more options is always better. But yeah, :face_vomiting:

I don’t think there’s much more than there’s always been.

Support class is an awful idea that has no place in modern wow.

It would either be mandatory that every group has to gave one, or do lackluster they’d be a waste of space, the spot better given to a traditional dps or healer.

There is not a singe in-game or in-lore bard to justify bards just randomly existing.
The only “bard” is ETC in a game that Blizzard has practically abandoned.

I like the idea, though I’d give them a tank spec…

Honestly I’d give everyone a healing or tank spec.

The taunt would be Viscuous Mockery

You want Bliz to add a support class to balance next to DPS, Tank and heals?

no, what an incredibly boring class idea.

Admittedly there ARE a number of magical musical instruments that you can pick up in Bastion that will give minor buffs, and there are a few new musical instrument toys in Shadowlands.

That said, there’s still no where near enough evidence of/lore support for music being a significant magical force in the Warcraft universe. There’s hardly even anything approaching bards, magical or otherwise. There’s the metal bands that play on Darkmoon Isle, and the Pandaren that used to sing in the inn on the turtle, and that’s about it. Bards just aren’t a thing on Azeroth.

I don’t think Blizzard could do a support class well in modern WoW. Hell, they couldn’t even do it all that well in Vanilla WoW.

As much as I like bards, a WoW version would ultimately just be a normal healer or DPS with a music theme to it.

and there are other themes that fit better within Warcraft lore, like Tinker.

The Bard could be traditionally said to be a ‘support class’, but it’s also easy to envision as having tank and healer specs as well. Perhaps even a dps spec, with only a handful of support functions. I’m not sure why so many people see it as only a niche class, capable of -only- one function.

While I dislike the entire concept of a bard class, I would accept one being added provided I can completely disable any sound or graphical effects from there. I played EQ 1 that had bards and my god, they were annoying purely due to that alone.

It would absolutely have to be!

I’d like to see them focus on improving the classes they have.

You could change it around but it starts becoming a case of why even call it a bard at that point? Calling it a bard brings the expectation that it’s at least somewhat going to play to traditional bard fantasy, which is being a support class.

I wasn’t terribly thrilled back in vanilla when I rolled this paladin and realized what I actually rolled was a cleric. I had expected a paladin.

Like I said, if you’re just going to do “Music themed tank/healer class” there are much better themes you can use that fit better within Warcraft lore.

My fear is that, if Tinker is introduced into the game, Blizzard would nerf the engineer profession into the dirt (worse than it already is). And honestly…isn’t a Tinker just an “Engineer themed dps class”? It really seems like any new class would just be a ‘themed’ addition.

A bard as a DPS class? Talk about killing them softly with his song…
