See, now you’re getting it! The worse job didn’t pay the artist what she was worth, so she got an opportunity somewhere else, that did pay her what she’s worth!
like to be fair you are making a bunch of assumptions, the person hasnt said 1 thing as to why she change jobs and her comments makes it seems like she wanted to be working at blizzard or at the very least didnt find her time there to have been a bad experience.
so there can bunch of reason as to why she isnt there anymore.
1 blizzard evil
2 the person moved
3 left the company due to all the bs in the media looking for more stable workplace
4 had the experience necessary to get promoted by there wasnt a opening.
I would bet the last one, she hasnt posted anything she is working on riot, maybe she is more in a manager position now or something like that
Yeah, that’s how it works. This isn’t a difficult concept. It’s like if you moved up to shift manager you’d make more money.
So you admit you were wrong when you posted she was getting paid what she was worth at Blizz.
That dude baited you hard.
Wrong.
She was getting paid what she was worth at Blizzard with her position at Blizzard. She agreed to the salary she was being paid. Both parties agreed that the salary she was offered was her worth. This shouldn’t be a difficult concept.
I resubbed and leveled my priest just for this set. Wish the mage artist had the same love for the class but gl in the future to whoever this thread is about
Expensive but livable. Certainly more expensive than most of the US but probably not compared to particularly expensive areas like Irvine.
Blizzard probably pays 3D artists and animators more than Sega but the rent would be 3x what I’m paying here.
You would need around 4,754.5$ (641,077.0¥) in Tokyo to maintain the same standard of life that you can have with 7,200.0$ in Irvine, CA (assuming you rent in both cities). This calculation uses our Cost of Living Plus Rent Index to compare cost of living. This assumes net earnings (after income tax).
https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=United+States&city1=Irvine%2C+CA&country2=Japan&city2=Tokyo
This has little to do with Blizzard and everything to do with the politics in California.
Im on the fence on this. Personally I’m happy for the Artist, their talent is absolutely amazing and if going to Riot will bring better pay and allow them to further grow and express their amazing talent further seriously I’d do that aswell.
But if you take a job and they make it a requirement to go into the office, that’s part of the job, I’m sorry but in Australia when work from home stopped we had to suck it up and continue life.
If they can’t go into the office for whatever reason, personal choice, commute or whatever then they should 100% go and find a job that caters to them.
Blizzard doesn’t seem to concerned because if all the talent was leaving, they’d definitely revert this decision.
So I’m for both, People need to find jobs that cater to them, they need to be happy it’s their life, but if a job requires you to go into work, well that’s a job.
We have no idea if this has anything to do with WFH or not
Regardless, jobs change all the time, hours shift, requirements, if you love your job you usually put up with it, if not you’d leave and find a better suited job.
Like I said I’m happy for the Artist, truely talented definitely worth every penny, if they found a better job and allows them to 100% work from home, even better, they deserve everything great coming to them.
They get paid what they’re worth, and the new priest set looks far more like a paladin set, I guess the artist forgot what class he was designing for.
Who needs a worker that can’t follow directions?
The only reason that WFH isn’t as popular over here is because our internet infrastructure is too garbage to support it.
Only half joking.
Full WFH isn’t super widespread but hybrid is pretty common. My SIL works at the National Archive and does half her week as WFH and the other as in-office. The clinicians I work with will often WFH if their clinic doesn’t necessitate face-to-face appointments.
I feel like this is a boomer quote, like “pull yourself up from your bootstraps”.
The fact is people aren’t getting paid what they’re worth in today’s inflation economy.
Yeah about that…
I’m still waiting for you to make sense. All you’ve done so far is talk about how “you know how the real world works” and puff your teensy little chest out about how superior you allegedly are. Pretty sure you look like a reddit mod irl, but you still won’t take me up on my offer to prove your alleged superiority.
But that’s not the business’ fault. Inflation falls underneath the umbrella of the state and federal government. They control how much money is in circulation.
This weird expectation that a business must scale up to match rising inflation is baffling.
Yes, because businesses are still paying employees their original salary at $2 an hour.
/s
Cumulative Inflation =/= Demand Inflation.
Yeah man I really wish I could argue over semantics when everything at the grocery story is 50% more expensive.
I’m not saying this is “right”, but in nearly every industry, you need to move to another job every 1-2 years if you want to maximize your salary. If you stay with your current company, you will fall behind in salary. If your only focus is salary, then you need to continue to find the next thing. This isn’t just a Blizzard problem.
