I don’t deny that their situation makes them more open to outside help, but it is not the only reason.
Most Arathi still cling to their values and vision of the Empire. It defines them. There is barely any conflict among the Arathi about the outsiders. They don’t just tolerate outsiders, they genuinely enjoy our company. And the Lamplighters are more than willing to help other civilizations in need.
What it appears is that their cultural beliefs aren’t as intolerant as we are expected to believe.
It isn’t solely about survival; it is altruism stemming from their religious beliefs.
Is that a bad thing though? If they were just another Scarlet Crusade style light worshiping group that would be boring. An empire with their own take on the light that is capable of both kindness and brutality sounds much more interesting.
I think it can’t be stated enough though that we can’t look at the Hallowfall expedition and extrapolate what Arathi culture and society is like in general. They have no choice but to adapt if they want to survive down there. We get a good idea of what the Arathi are like, but everything we see should be taken with a grain of salt.

I agree. I want them to be more benevolent. I am not a fan of the tendency to make the Light more ambivalent.
My point is that Blizzard is writing them in a contradictory manner.
And I get that we cant know everything about Arathi society, but I would say we know way more than we think. Considering most Arathi are from the Empire and they are proud of their heritage/culture- you can get a good sense of who they are.
I am a fan, I am bored of everytime the light is on screen its a generic force for good, atleast other religions in the setting are interesting

I get that, but I think it makes things more unique. The fact that they are different from the light is what appeals to you. And I think that’s how it should be. Let some magics be good, some be bad, some ambivalent. It adds variety to the universe.
No it doesn’t, all it does is seperate the universe into white and black, that’s not variety

Black, white, and everything in between. Just because there are poles doesnt mean the space between them is short.
What possible poles are there when everything is white and black

I mean its like a scale. Kind of like DnD’s alignment system
- Amidst the chaos, the forgotten one cried, “When the last star fades, the emperor’s crown will weigh heavy with the sins of a thousand years.” The stalwart soldiers threw down their spears and wept tears of blood and burning anger.
Why does it mention the Emperor’s Crown being weighed down with the Sins of a thousand years!?
Isn’t Sin the domain of Denathrius!?
“The golden one claims a vacant throne. The crown of light will bring only darkness.” - Il’gynoth
Crown of Light… The Emperor’s crown weighed down with the Sins of a thousand years… Am starting to realize why the Arathi would throw down their spears and weep tears of blood and burning anger. This is yet another instance of Denathrius being behind Light Fanatics!
Judging from the Forgotten One’s Quote it seems Denathrius is boasting about the last star’s Light fading. How will Denathrius manage that? Is there something about Remornia we know nothing about? He didn’t stab Beledar with the thing to steal it’s Soul did he?
“A dark heart left broken awaits the taking.” - A Song of the Depths
A Dark Heart filled with Wrath yet not enough for Xal’atath will get pawned off on Ansurek and since this is the final battle of Light vs Dark that means the Emperor himself will appear and strike down Ansurek himself with Remornia a sword connected to Beledar pouring the Pantheon of Light member’s Light into Ansurek causing it and Ansurek’s Void to mutually annihilate each other allowing Denathrius to channel the Sin into Remornia as he hogs her remaining Light for himself so that he can ascend to become a member of the Pantheon of Light.
It’s starting to look like Denathrius is joining the Pantheon of Light bringing the Red Light of Sin to it’s Pantheon.
Dreadlords have a history of manipulating zealots. With Shadowlands though, the Light knew of Denathrius’ plan and scarred his domain. Would he not be allowed to ascend? Or would he be trying to overthrow/take power by force?
The Forgotten One mentions the last star fading suggesting that the entire Pantheon may already have fallen explaining why Xal’atath calls the Naaru brethren.
Incidentally Denathrius has yet to attain a body so he might need Sin to revive himself and thus he might have Remornia stab Ansurek(as she stabbed so many Wrathful Void users causing the Night phase of Beledar) and with the final Sin added to the mixture form a Body from the Light-purified Sin and abandon Remornia in Shadow while throwing out a mocking statement of “Light can brook no alliance with Shadow” as he discards her with a cruel sneer on his face as he becomes the sole member of the Pantheon of Light and takes over it’s Cosmic Realm.
As Enemy Infiltration Preface states the Naaru have an obsessive belief in being right and thus the Naaru Prime Xe’ra(who clearly trusted Lothraxion) would trust any Light purified being even Denathrius seeing his ascendance as a blessing!
Remornia the discarded becomes the Big Bad of War Within and upon death falls into the Void and corrupts the Sunwell(born from M’uru who would be her descendant just as O’ros was Xe’ra’s descendent) from there starting Midnight.
Ah, so you think the Light has no Pantheon and Denathrius will claim it for himself? To try and twist it.
I have always found it hard to reconcile Xe’ra with Revendreth. Seems strange the Light uncovers an infiltration plot, by known infiltrators, and then allows one to join their ranks afterward.
Remornia at the moment would be the only Pantheon of Light member existing after the rest fell to Void for one reason or the other.
The attack on Remornia binding her Soul to Denathrius’s Sword would happen while the Naaru have fallen for a ploy by the Nathrezim feeding false info to Lothraxion whom the Naaru purified with Light and cause immediate retaliation upon the Nathrezim’s Ward in Revendreth in vengeance for Remornia’s injury.
Of course since Denathrius has corrupted Remornia to his side after stabbing her connecting her to his sword he manages to have her send messages to her followers to make sure the Light doesn’t come back for Z’rali abandoning her.
This would make Remornia’s eventual fate a tragic irony: She had her followers abandon Z’rali only to be abandoned by her master herself!
What would you say is Denathrius’ plan then? To corrupt the light and twist it into something else?
Bro is desperate to have denathrius back

To conquer the Cosmos with the 7 Deadly Sins.
Denathrius’s ties to the 7 Deadly Sins means that he is the 7 that the Pattern of the First Ones points towards.
There are 6 and 7. 6 Cosmic Forces and 7 Deadly Sins!
Firim thought that it was 6 Cosmic Forces denying a 7th that existed when in reality it was 6 Cosmic Forces and 7 Deadly Sins.

Im not sure how I feel about Denathrius succeeding, but I like the idea as its own expansion concept. I think it would be fun. I wish Revendreth explored more about the “sins” and whether there is a connection to the Sha.
Enemy Infiltration Preface mentions the Void Lords welcoming the Nathrezim in open arms so the Sha may be the Void’s idea of the Nathrezim’s Whispers of the 7 Deadly Sins.
The 7 Deadly Sins will consume all the Cosmic Forces.
Do note that Azshara created the Wrath, Pride, Radiance and Fury of Azshara so she will eventually bring that up to 7 by making 3 more.
That leaves Life and Disorder to be infected with 7.
I’m starting to think the Arathi Empire is less like the Scarlet Crusade, and more like Kul Tiras. Zealous and unwelcoming to outsiders, but not outright hostile. But maybe that’s my brain filling in the blanks with details I like, rather than what’s in the text.
